I’ve been on 20 Carnival cruises, and the only one where I had issues with trashy people was a short 5-day cruise out of Miami. When I talk people into trying Carnival, I tell them to stay away from short cruises on older ships.
I had the same experience with Carnival once out of 7 cruises. Unruly kids, no one paid attention during the safety drill, we couldn't get near any food station and ended up eating hamburgers for lunch everyday. It was awful. We found out that the price had been discounted so much at the port city that families on mass booked it full. Carnival needs to step up so that the cruise is enjoyable for all. It was our last Carnival cruise. We moved on to Princess.
I think you were justified. 💯 There shouldn't be ANY scenario where the staff doesn't respond to customer complaints and let passengers ruin the experience for others. Even if the fare was free I would still be considerate of others.
Well after taking a 3 day booze cruise last thanksgiving on the Liberty… we will never do a 3 or 4 day cruise, never do The clown ship again! Our new go to cruise line is MSC. Better ships, crews and , people.
If they were concentrating on pot, well they failed there too. We quit Carnival because we couldnt use our balcony due to the constant smell 4 of the last 5 sailings. Don't care what people do, but shouldn't have to deal with that.
Sailed to Alaska with Carnival. 7 days on the Luminosa. No bad behavior was observed and we had a great time. I would have preferred Princess, but this was an extended family cruise, so the pick was a committee decision. That was our 3rd cruise with Carnival. 2 were great, the one out of Baltimore was a disappointment.
Shows that itinerary/destination has much to do with the type of people you will be with. My Alaska cruise on Holland America was classy, adult and educational. People were more interested in attending lectures than getting drunk!
I still understand I love Norwegian and have been doing it for years. I actually worked for the pride of America and now it’s the only cruise line I will take. I don’t know why people don’t like Norwegian. I think it’s because it’s not a booze cruise.
With Carnival I think there are a couple of factors that need to be considered to have a "decent" cruise. Port of departure and cruise length. Stick with the 6 day or longer cruises you will typically be fine, especially on the XL Ships like Jubilee, Celebration, and Mardi Gras. Avoid the "booze cruise" ones like the 3- or 4-day party cruises. We have done the booze cruises out of New Orleans and Miami, and they are just awful due to the people/demographic on board. We did do the Margaritaville Islander out of Tampa and were totally surprised how great it was! Ready to do that one again....
We experience something similar last year on Carnival Venezia, We made report to GS & Security which they did nothing. We did sail again this summer on carnival and had an enjoyable cruise.
My wife and I have cruised on carnival several times several years ago we vowed to never cruise with them again just recently we went on one out of Galveston on the freedom and we will never cruise on that boat again because both of our bad experiences was on that boat we are going to try the the jubilee next just because it is free with a free drink package I have recently been told it is a much different experience
We have sailed the Jubilee recently and were blown away as to how wonderful it was! It seems like a totally different cruise line than Carnival's older ships. It even seemed more upscale!
Totally understand your situation. Had a similar (I’m thinking who hasn’t had it) experience several years ago. We continued to sail with Carnival even though that particular crowd on board was obnoxious. We figured it was the people on the ship and not the cruise ship or crew that made the experience not the best. The unfortunate part was that we had a couple, who had never cruised, join us. We couldn’t talk that couple into trying cruising again.
I agree with you regarding everyone needs to come to their own conclusions. I love Carnival and have traveled with them for more than 15 cruises. I’ve had not so good experiences happen, however, the situations were quickly rectified. I have never had an experience yet that would stop me from cruising with Carnival. I’ve been on 2 cruises with Royal Caribbean and have not been impressed. I’m happy you gave Carnival another shot!!! Thank you for your informative videos!
Wow, I just came off of a Carnival Glory cruise last week. Nov 4-8. My first with them. I had the best time, no craziness, drunks or rude behavior was anywhere to be found. I had heard about different incidents but this cruise was perfect except for the three couples we had to wait for who were late from their excursions. I travel Norwegian in January but will book another Carnival Glory cruise in the future.
My first cruise back in 1996 was on a Carnival! I swore off of all sailing thinking the problem was cruising! Last year, my son and I took a cruise on Disney Cruise Line and we fell in love with cruising! I took another cruise on DCL earlier this month and now this is my new passion! I don’t think I’ll ever cruise on Carnival again but I will definitely try other cruise lines.
I’ve been on 25 cruises with Carnival and have never had the experience you did. I also have never been on a cruise shorter than 5 days. 3 or 4 day cruises don’t make sense given how far I have to travel nor for the style of cruiser I am. Not at all interested in a booze cruise. Given your experience on the Freedom, what are thoughts about the new safety positions Carnival is adding to their ships?
I am about to turn Platinum on Carnival. I've only sailed from Galveston or New Orleans and have never seen a fight or totally drunk people. I have however met some really great people and are great food. However...a bunch of friends (11) talked me into a NCL cruise to Alaska. It was a nightmare. The ship was the Bliss. The people on board were ok but the ship was the worst. All the bars ran out of beer, when we went to the specialty restaurant they ran out of several dishes. While in the MDR we had to ask for butter for the rolls and water to drink. List luggage, bad plane arraignments, etc. it's a shame because I'm scared to try them again.
My first cruise was on the freedom 2 years ago and other than kids doing the Laugh Olympics foot race every night outside my door, and enough weed smell so even the fish were getting baked in the ocean, I had a great time.
I love carnival unfortunately it was both ! The carnival crew for not stopping in . & the cruisers for acting a fool ! I’m glad u gave carnival another chance. Thanks for your channel
going back on Carnival in February for the first time in over 10 years...Been loyal to Royal but going with an open mind. Not crazy about the drink limit. The whole idea for me and a drink package is to try different drinks but with a limited package I'll need to stick to my favorites.
We’ve been on carnival 10 to 12 times in the past 12 years and we noticed the same things that have during our last couple cruises with them. We also decided to stop cruising with them.
I had a similar experience my 2nd time on the freedom in 14 years. 1st time in 09 was amazing. In 23 HORRIBLE! Kids runnin wild, noisy, rude behavior. And the balcony next to mine, you set your watch when he would smoke pot. Rough 5 days for my wife and I that both platinum.
I was diamond on carnival for years, we changed to msc and now I am a blue diamond on msc, I do book regular rooms on msc, but I love yatch club and I will bid for those every time.
I think it depends what time of year. The summer months are the worst. I tried all 4 seasons . I love the off seasons better . Meaning when those kids are in school lol. 😉
I personally LOVE NCL. It was my fav Cruising Experience so far. NCL Escape had a great mix of good food and solid entertainment. I wish I had a better Itinary. I'm going on a 10 day Europeon trip next fall on the Dawn. And that ship concerns me because its smaller and has less entertainment on board. But 8 of those days are Port stops so the ship doesn't really matter.
You will absolutely love your cruise onDawn my mother and I just finished this one in August. The best thing is this is the first time we ever got a suite we have got the cheapest one, but if the room is enormous, and I love the fact that it was all windows across your cab and you can watch the ocean and you get a Butler and they unpack for you.
The price, date, length of cruise, itinerary, and ship have a huge impact on the atmosphere of any specific cruise. The cruise line is only one variable and probably not the most important variable. The content I appreciate most is when creators show me the good and bad experiences they've observed and then teach me about decisions I can make to maximize the positive on my own cruises. Keep up the great work!
Carnival is the only cruise line that my husband and I have been on. We have been fortunate enough to have never experienced anything that has been bad.
I get it. We have done tons of cruises on Carnival. We are 7 nights from platinum. In 2022, we were on the Sunshine out of Charleston. We had been on the ship years ago out of Barcelona for its second cruise after being hacked up from the Destiny. It was my least favorite ship. I just hate the layout and some other things. In 2022, we thought we would give the ship another try. We hated the cruise. The food was awful, the entertainments was not much better, the passengers were rude, and we still hate the ship itself. We were going to abandon Carnival. We booked a cruise to Alaska on the NCL Encore. A beautiful ship and great itinerary. The food as good and the crew was great. If it was not for NCL, we would probably have jumped ship to NCL. NCL is still the NCL I disliked 17yrs ago but worse. It is a corporate thing. After we got back from Alaska and recovered from Covid, I booked a really cheap cruise on the Elation out of Jacksonville for Jan 2024. It was one of the best cruises we had been on in a long time. We had a great time. The price was great. Since then I booked 2 Carnival cruises for 2025 one on the Elation In Jan. again and one on the Venenzia in March. 5 day cruises are the shortest I will do. The vibe on 5 day cruses is way different than 7+ day cruises. European cruises have an even better Vibe. If you want to do something that is the polar opposite of Carnival, try a Viking river cruise. Expensive, classy, and the best service anywhere. You get what you pay for. If I could afford it, I would love to try their ocean ships.
We've been on 17 cruises with Carnival. None were horrifically "bad" and most were enjoyable. We have always faulted Carnival for picking and choosing which policy they will enforce on any given day; specifically the MDR dress code but we suck it up. A bad cruise is much better than a good day at work in the final analysis. Maybe the two new positions that Carnival is going to hire for their fleet will things better, especially with controlling the kids, but I have serious doubts. Those salaries will undoubtedly be made up in future cruise fares.
My wife and I haven’t been on Carnival in at least 7-8 years and we got engaged and married on the Conquest in 2007 and had a great time but as we’ve sailed with them every year on our anniversary- we’re just “peeved” that someone brand new - a first time cruiser - can “buy their way onboard early” when we’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars to reach this “complimentary benefit” as Platinum and Diamond guests. Because of this “money grab” Carnival has done - we refuse to go on another cruise with them. There are other lines that treat their “higher up status guests” with respect and don’t pull these shenanigans just to earn extra revenue for the company!
The first one I tried was a bunch of drunks and “smokers” . Complained to them about the neighboring cabin smoking dope which blew onto our balcony, nothing done. I’ll never go back
I think Carnival has a responsibility to hold its passengers accountable to their rules. They will continue to lose business until they get this under control. MSC is a strong price competitor.
I was on the Carnival Sunshine from the Port of Charleston in September. I have decided not to go on another Carnival cruise again. The ship was not clean and I seemed to be the only person on the ship that washed hands before eating. There was no one to at least attempt to get people to wash hands before they went to the buffet or the other eating places. YUCK! Also, while we were at the Blue Iguana bar there were two cockroaches crawling on the bar top. Carnival is a "no" for me from now on no matter how cheap.
I have no argument with your feelings about Carnival, but I won't take the chance again. I've been on 3 Carnival cruises and won't do it again because if the passengers.
I have been on more than 100 cruises. There is a noticeable difference in the class of people that cruise on Carnival ships based on the home port. Leaving out of New York, LA, or Miami is usually a better crowd than ships leaving from Galveston, New Orleans, Port Canaveral and other smaller home ports. I am still not a fan of Carnival, rating it on slightly better than NCL. There are far better options and more value for your money ships.
Carnival is not my favorite cruise line. Although I have been on 6 carnival cruises, I won't say that I won't cruise with them again because it all depends on the price and the itinerary. In the past 4 years, cruising has been bitter Sweet. I love all the new ships that were being built during the pandemic. But we have created monster. cruising didn't used to be this bad prepandemic. And if my memory serves me correctly pre pandemic, the prices were very reasonable. You could easily find a 7 day cruise for around $700-800 per person. Now it seems that 7 day cruises are averaging 1200 to 1500 per person. Like I said, I like all the attention that the cruise industry has received in the past 3 to 4 years. But I will much rather go back to the pre pandemic levels.
I've never cruise Carnival. Maybe I'm no fun? 😂 Have sailed RCCL, NCL, Princess, & just returned from my second HAL cruise, a 21-day Caribbean cruise round trip out of Boston. We're getting up in age. I think there was one kid and just a couple of teenagers aboard. 👍 (Lots of freaking riders though, but elevators were never crowded!)
Don’t risk it with Carnival anymore. Especially on any 3-5 day cruise. The only time it will be enjoyable is Panama Canal or Alaska if they’re even doing that. Past Carnival cruiser with 30 Carnival cruises. Never again……
We cruised with Carnival once on Splendor out of Long Beach. It was disappointing to say the least. We never went back to Carnival and have cruised with Royal Caribbean eight times and enjoyed all of them immensely! Carnival is a joke. Don't waste your time and money on them.
I have had several bad & not so good Carnival experiences...I am sworn off ...price is big issue with family, but I will not do Carnival afain. Thanks, but no thanks.
Almost every time, when booking low price cruises, expect to have a bad experiences, from the ship or cruise itself or the people that are on it. Book high price cruises it keeps you away from it
I've cruised 12 times with carnival most were fine we were on the sunrise in September and the passengers were truly low class and I definitely never sail on that ship again 👎👎👎👎👎👎
You should’ve known better than to go on a “party” cruise! Freedom is an old ship, WHY would you go on an old ship? It’s the same with Royal, if it’s an old ship you won’t enjoy yourself.
I’ve been on 20 Carnival cruises, and the only one where I had issues with trashy people was a short 5-day cruise out of Miami. When I talk people into trying Carnival, I tell them to stay away from short cruises on older ships.
Agreed. I do not take short cruises at all from any brand. 6 and 7 day cruises have a very different vibe and clientele.
Short cruises in general are this way on other lines too. Why pay for a miserable experience.
I had the same experience with Carnival once out of 7 cruises. Unruly kids, no one paid attention during the safety drill, we couldn't get near any food station and ended up eating hamburgers for lunch everyday. It was awful. This! 110%!!
On my last Carnival cruise, I witnessed a passenger puke in the pool. That was the last straw for me with Carnival.
Many puke in the pools on Icon of the Seas also. So I assume you won't be sailing Royal either. Great.
I love Carnival and will be sailing with on the Jubilee in January and on the Horizon and Celebration in November next year.
I love Carnival, BUT if you do a 4 Day $200 to Bermuda, you will get the cheap party cruisers that you deserve.
Bahamas
If they were concentrating on pot, well they failed there too. We quit Carnival because we couldnt use our balcony due to the constant smell 4 of the last 5 sailings. Don't care what people do, but shouldn't have to deal with that.

I know exactly what you are saying without saying it. Unfortunately Carnival seems to turn a blind eye.
My first cruise back in 1996 was on a Carnival! I swore off of all sailing thinking the problem was cruising! It’s MOSTLY the passengers, Yet also the Cruise line for allowing/not Handling the passengers, or Repremanding…

3:45 - "Sleepless nights surrounded by constant noise and disrespect." Sounds more like prison.

Try celebrity you won’t go back
No try Virgin, it is amazing
i call a spade a spade if i see it my wife sometime tells me to be quiet but that’s not me ! if it’s a teaching moment ill will not hesitate !!!
Msc go get your blue diamond.

Holland America is the best cruise line for older adults with college degrees!
I don’t spend my money with Spirit, Motel 6, Golden Corral, Dollar Tree, Greyhound or Carnival but you can do whatever makes you feel satisfied.
I think Carnival has a responsibility to hold its passengers accountable to their rules. They will continue to lose business until they get this under control. MSC is a strong price competitor.

My understanding is it's common knowledge Carnival is THE worst cruise line for anyone besides 20 nothing party people.
Went on liberty and it was gross in October

I liked Mardi Gras, wasn't to cruise on Jubilee.
How much is carnival paying you???😮
I've never cruise Carnival.
I wanna see the video that made you hate NCL.
Don’t risk it with Carnival anymore. Especially on any 3-5 day cruise. The only time it will be enjoyable is Panama Canal or Alaska if they’re even doing that. Past Carnival cruiser with 30 Carnival cruises. Never again……
I don't see myself on a Carnival cruise. It's just not my style. But I don't see why people don't care for Norwegian.

That's y it's the wall mart of cruising.
Carnival fire not freedom.
I cruised with them in 2007, had the same experience...I would NEVER go on Carnival again ‼️I LOVE NCL💜🫶🤩
NCL isnt very kid friendly, so its a no for me with family
