Ralph was fire but the world already had a bad boy and a hip hop/r n b crew all coming out of the same camp all within a few years of each other during the 'New Jack' era. Then you had Johnny with the grown man voice who was already a soon artist prior to singing with NE. I've said this so many times; he never got the credit he deserves.
He should’ve went solo when he wanted to back in 1987. Not go solo but at least release a solo project then get back with the group. What he wanted to do was too late sadly :(

He wanted to go solo and too be true to New Edition , He had a chance to go solo without his brother's from the start but he remembered it was them that invited him into the group he maintained his loyalty. Bobby's first album didn't do much at all girlfriend was his biggest, But Ralph shared his ideas and visions with Bobby as far as the new jack swing was concern when ralph knew anything bobby took that concept to Guy and LA and Face Bobby's biggest Album erupted followed by Guy and many others blowing up on this same concept . He was loyal to MCA record label when Disney had offered him more money for a solo album he allowed Gerald Busby to talk him into a New Edition Album , Promotion and tour of the album while his brother's BBD went behind his back to replace him with Johnny. Johnny solo project emerged following that and BBD followed johnny leaving the lead singer out of the ordinary to go out last. While MCA was playing hardball with Ralph's career Ralph could have teamed up with Disney a gigantic company who could have either taken a law suit for Ralph's contract or bought his contract and freed him from any future obligations . He choose to be loyal. In life it's never ok to be totally selfish but sometimes in life when it comes to your best interest it's ok to be selfish because it's then about you and your family. Bobby Brown , BBD or Johnny Gill didn't wait on Ralph they all went for their own personal piece of the pie leaving Ralph to learn a huge lesson. They all know Ralph is the face and voice of New Edition maybe the group was founded by Bobby Brown but whenever a New Edition concert run come about the show can't go on without Ralph many concerts have gone on without Bobby and others but a no show for Ralph the NE fans want a refund . Fortunately for Ralph when all his his original brothers RBRM was out doing their thing it was Johnny who showed up and let Ralph know he still have talent to share with the public he added a beautiful song All Mine for his fans.I'm Wishing all 6 brothers the best on their 2022 tour and prayerfully their Vegas Residency.
