  • MPG and Real World Journey COST's
    --------------
Cost of the journey 1 WAY IS Calculated as ROUGHLY
A Full tank of FUEL is = £43÷10 bars on the Fuel Gauge ×7bars used on gauge = £30 One Way .
Distance travelled one way was 381 Miles
The TOTAL Journey time was 8 hours 40 min +/- 20 min ( Including a 45 min Break) as the Average speed was just 45mph or constant 50 mph (GPS SPEED) on all the motorways.
At 70 mph it would have taken 6hour 40 (but the MPG nose dives over 65 MPH )
    Vehicle Test CONDITIONS
    -------
    Fully Loaded(LADEN) Prius • 1 October 2020
(Converted to a VAN with all the seats and boot linings removed*)
(*Apart from the drivers Seat in case that is not obvious ) )
    • prius .van
No Compromise on Comfort as I Used all the Electrics including:-
    AC on Recirculate
    Heated windscreen.
Cruise Control was used throughout with the car in ECO MODE.
Inbuilt Stereo and SAT NAV on
    Chargers used on devices
    DRIVING WEATHER CONDITiONS
    --------------------------------------------------------------
Was raining heavily throughout the 2 way Journey so that increased the MPG (Drag on the TYREs Treads wading through the water and drag coefficient on the Cars Body)
    FUEL USED
    --------------------
I used a mix of BP Fuel and Esso Synergy.
The fuel makes a big difference as i used to use Asda fuel but since they added More Ethanol to the Fuel the car would shake at at certain Loads as the engine would "knock" and the ECU Retarded the ignition timing. This Hammered the MPG .Discoverted this after changing a number of parts ⚠️ EGR Valve,VVTI solenoid,Knock Sensor(as there was no ERROR when I scanned the ECU)
I have tried different Fuels and Shell V-power can achieve upto 10-20MPG more than ASDA fuel .
(I believe on V-Power I could have Achieved an Average of near 75 to 85 MPG on this Trip)
    Driving Safety Measures
    ---------------------------------------
1.I Highly Recommend Using A Fresh Coat of Rain Repellent just before the journey on the Cars Glass made life easy and i could clearly see in the DARK as it pelted down with rain while other Road users were forced to slow down because they could not see .This in turn helped MPG
2.Premacy 4 Tyres used as they are Rated A for fuel efficiency and also A for their Grip in the wet
3.The Prius had a recent Oil Change with OEM Prius oil with less than 2000 Miles of use.
4.The Tyres were all inflated just before the Journey to 2.5 Bar
    5.Oil level Checked
    6.Screenwash Topped up
    Food
    ---------
Had 1 stop for the bathroom on the way up.
Food Strategy was to take Home made Pizza as its Easy to manage and eat and there was NO risk of getting Corona 🤒🤕
Time I started the journey and WHY ?
    -------------------------------------------------------------
Left my house at midnight so
1.there was no traffic and I could maintain my speed
2.less Idiot drivers to deal with
    3.Less stress.
The 🇯🇵TOYODA 🇯🇵was amazing as ever comfortable,Reliable and Efficient.
Much better than doing this trip in a LWB VW Transporter 170BHP as I did the week before (Fuel Cost in the Transporter was around £180 but I did do additional stops in Wakefield and Bradford to meet people and drop off Kitchen fittings )
    SPEED vs COST OF TRIP
    --------------------------------
Averaging 53 mph as DASHBOARD indicated or 50mph Real GPS speed on the motorways. averaged 71+mpg up until i got to the Touge type roads into Scotland ( could have done better but was getting late )
On the way back went faster (60 to 70 MPH) and had a long 3 hour break.
Total cost of the journey from Near Reading (Knowl Hill Esso) to Edinburgh and back to Reading RG1 was around £60 to £65.
This includes Driving around Edinburgh City Centre seeing the sights and City (Amazing place) • Scotland
I made a wrong turn as was nattering and had to pay £5 for the M6 TOLL ROAD So try and avoid this
WHY DID I Bother with this test am I a Broke A%s se*ual Chocolate ?

The idea of making this trip up to Scotland into a hypermiling MPG challenge was inspired by the TOPGEAR episode in the Audi A8 . • Top Gear - Audi A8 Fue...
The PRIUS cannot do the Journey and back on one tank ( can get -254 Miles Short of it )(508 MILES ON ONE TANK) as it does not have a big enough FUEL Tank (45L) .Clarkson did 39 odd MPG in His Audi A8 this Prius car can do at least around 28 MPG more(almost 70 mpg) 🧐
With the looming Economic Depression/Recession money might be tight for many people.uploaded this video as i wanted to show what was possible on a tight budget .
    (Always observe the quarantine rules)
Its good to have a change of scenery for your mental health.
This car can take 5 people so this trip return works out at £13 per a person 🤑 go for it .Wear a mask and explore.observe the rules before planing a trip .
Its difficult to leave England .so its a good excuse to explore this Beautiful Island🇬🇧 Peace and Love to All
