I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, and was told that gay people are wrong. Most of my life, I was blindly making jokes about gay people, not even fully understanding what it meant. Boy, was I surprised growing up to realize I that I'm an agnostic atheist lesbian...
Ryan Harris No they don't. You can be an agnostic christian. Agnostic simply means you don't/can't know. Atheist simply means you do not believe in god. Anyone who says they don't know if there is a god or not, but they don't believe in one is an agnostic atheist. If you say you don't know there is a god, but you believe in the Christian god, you're an agnostic Christian.
Seriously People Belief in something is saying your absolutely sure of it, you can't have a belief in a god or no god if at the same time you're not sure at all. I mean, saying you don't know if there's a God but at the same time believing in the Christian God doesn't make u an agnostic Christian it was just make u a Christian! Because saying u believe in a god yet not knowing if there even is one contradicts each other.
Ryan Harris Gonna have to disagree with you there. Obviously anytime faith is required is an example of belief without knowledge. I've never been to Canada, so I don't absolutely know it really exists, but I believe it does. Another example: Say your wife is screwing around on you. She tells you she isn't. You can believe her without having knowledge if it's true or not. In that case, you can believe in something that definitely is not true.
As a baby I was baptized as a baby and raised by religious parents and went to church a lot and prayed a lot , was always surrounded with heterosexuals , always had my phone checked , get good grades , still go to church , yet I’m gay and I feel great , smarter , and brave
Still go to church? Do you do that willingly? If so, how in the world can you stand participating in an immoral belief system that genuinely despises who you are?
Gavin Alexander I didn’t just say oh I’m gay and it’s not a system ? Ever read the Bible ? Half the things humans do are immoral ? Try reading the whole thing ?
You are really an inteligent person! Wow. Where do you get that from? That haircuts are evil? Tell me where does it is written in the Bible. I can tell you: 1 Corinthians 11. It tells that it is a shame for a man to have LONG hair. Maybe from this verse your tiny little brain told you, that it is a sin to cut your hair? If yes. Then you are werry inteligent person! Bravo. Do the same in school Promise? Good boy!
@@fallenslave6684 actually it says that you shall not cut you're hair nor beard into a round shape 😂😂😂 you fucking idiot you obviously have not read the bible
okay! I was just curious cause you know if atheism is true, there doesn't seem to be a true objective in life at all. So I don't even see a good reason to do anything at all.
Turtle Neckson Hello! I wanna mention that you seem to assume advancing science and preventing harmful religion are the objectives of our lives. If atheism is true so that there is no objective given by God, what's more to do? Why should we seek to advance at all?
***** the kind of warning a parent gives a child is much different than a warning given by God. Parents will always say to their kids "look both ways before crossing the street, or you could get run over." God says "don't eat at Red Lobster or I'll kill you"
***** I did not become an atheist because of some "bad experience at church" I simply reached the age of reason. I used to be like you, I would scoff at people, whether it be a close friend or relative, when they told me they don't believe in God. I look back on that today and I am disgusted with the old me. It's physically impossible to hate something that doesn't exist. And instead of naming actual examples of my so called "ignorance", you continue to make empty accusations, let me assure you, I have read the bible. Not cover to cover, but a very significant portion of it. Now you can continue to throw insults around like an ape throwing its own shit all you want. But it's clear to me that based on your previous comments, no one with common sense will ever take you seriously.
***** You say you can pull up literally thousands of presumptuous, arrogant, and cocky atheist comments? Why don't you name a few, not all of them, just a few, at least to back up your claim. I've found one thing about your comments that are almost as constant as the scientific method...And it's that you, yourself like to make vague and bold statements about a group of people you truly don't understand, and yet bring no examples or evidence to support your declarations. I will admit that you seem to have a valid point when linking the study and knowledge of science and scientific theory, to the culture of theism, and the like. And I will be the first to admit, the closest I'd come to being a scientist was when I studied Biology and chemistry in High school. Obviously, the classes were not too in depth and were rather rudimentary. That being said, my knowledge on the subject is dwarfed by the minds that had actually made their theories into common knowledge, which can actually be seen and observed. Now, where your argument begins to falter is when you say that people only take a cursory glance at the bible, without taking into account the reasons or intents behind it, the culture, or all the other things you can supposedly "go on and on" about. Furthermore, you claim that atheists who have come and gone actually didn't read or know most of the Bible. Really? You think they just look for random quotes and verses to add fuel to their argument? Let me tell you something, they don't have to look very hard. The Bible basically does it to itself. And the gullible just overlook the dark stuff and quote all the light hearted, fluffy stuff. You know? Like the difference between "smite every man, woman, and child you see, then take the young girls to be your wife" vs. "Be merciful to the poor" As if the intent of the author writing about how gays are all going to perish in a lake of fire, or how a woman who gets raped can also be stoned to death 'because she didn't scream loud enough', is any justification for the bullshit to be written to begin with. It doesn't matter who wrote the book, why it was written, or what the culture of the time was like. The thing is, the words don't lie. They're not hiding in another dimension, they're plastered on thousands upon thousands of pages in imitation leather books sold in every Walmart on the face of the earth. One thing I find very peculiar, is that you obviously have a very pronounced disdain for atheists, not for what they believe, but because you say they speak out of bigotry and arrogance? Try saying that to people who were spoon-fed literal bullshit like Christianity since their early childhood. Personally, I think Christians are the last people who should be pointing the finger. Take a look at the perspective of an agnostic asking out of genuine curiosity, "Is it really fair that God would send me to Hell, just because I don't believe in him?" With the stereotypical response from the "All-loving" Christian, "Hey, Woah there, pal. God doesn't send you to Hell. You send YOURSELF to Hell by choosing not to believe in him." Kind of makes it sound like a....what's the word....ultimatum? You say you're sick of atheists and their disrespect for Christianity? Well, I hate to be that guy, and don't take this the wrong way. You seem to me like a wise man much older than myself, genuinely, I mean that. But honestly, if it bothers you that much, then why don't you stay away from the videos on youtube created by publicly announced atheists? Kind of seems like you're just looking for something to fuel that fire in your belly.
Your understanding is all mixed up & that’s what so many people do with scripture.. they take it & make it their own. Love your neighbor.. love everyone but not in a homosexual way.
I appreciate what you do. You approach these videos in a non-aggressive way. You do this so your point gets across without being a stereotype atheist. As a fellow atheist, I applaud your work.
Those who doubt the existence of God and the afterlife must look at the claims of so many people about their journey in the spiritual realm. Some in visions and dreams, while others had such mind boggling experience during NDE [near death experience]. These people who have such claims come from different ethnicities, social and educational backgrounds, and religious beliefs [including atheists] You may say it's just an hallucination...but Do you know what truly spells the difference between those who just had hallucinations with those who had a real personal experience with God and the spiritual realm? Those who had hallunications never came back with something tangible to prove the veracity of their claims, of their experience, while those who had a personal experience with God or in the spiritual realm came back with tangible proof in the form of the following: 1. A miraculous recovery from a fatal illness or from a high risk surgery that even doctors are so dumbfounded they consider these recoveries as nothing short of a miracle. 2. These people who have had real experience in the spiritual realm come with stories they would not have known had they not been told by the spiritual beings who spoke to them while in heaven. Case in point: 1. DR. EBEN ALEXANDER, BRAIN SURGEON He only came to know that he had a sister after his near death experience. He was an only child of his adopted parents. His adoption was not disclosed and was kept a secret so he never got to meet his one and only sister who died years ago. How did he find out he had a sister after his NDE? He said during his journey in heaven, he met this woman who had so much love for him. She became his guide during his journey in the spiritual realm. When this brain surgeon came back to life and recovered, he became so curious about the identity of the woman and shared with his parents how he felt so connected, on a soul level, to this woman. His parents then revealed to him that he was adopted and that he had a sister who died years ago..and so to cut the story short, he set out to get more information about his sister and was able to get hold of her picture. He was flabbergasted as the woman in the picture is exactly the same woman who guided him during his journey in the heavenly realm. He became a changed man after his NDE. He now believes in God. [He used to be an atheist]
Thanks for the story, I do believe that believing in it's own of course is a choice. This video wasn't about believing in god though, it was about Homosexual people being discriminated and hated and killed for their way of living, those people didn't hurt anyone. They just wanted to live and be happy and open to others about who they were. Nice Story, just not the right topic really. Also your on an Atheist Channel, you realize that right? Life isn't about words, it's about actions. Not hating, just reminding you that there are people that could get triggered here, 😉
@@Leon-ir3gm I am used to having atheists getting triggered by my views. I am completely okay with that. I want to let you know that there are atheists who became believers in God due to either of the following reasons: # 1. They felt God's presence in an open vision or during NDE [Near death experience] or # 2. Through their study, they explored and studied the accuracy and fulfillment of biblical prophecies. Now, studying the prophecy doesn't take a lot of work. If you truly want to prove the validity of the Bible, study the prophecy..it made many atheists change their perspective about God and the afterlife.

I think the bible was a coming-of-age story about a deity. He starts by making something he thought was perfect, and got bored, so he gave that which was most like himself (some angels, and then humans) free will and thought. When one angel thought he was better than the young god, he cast him and his subordinates into a bin (we call it hell). And when humans decided to defy him for the first time, rather than destroy them, he put them on a world where they wouldn't bother him and they could learn a lesson in his absence. But he quickly got bored and started messing with his mortal pawns... Eventually, he grows to late adolescence and seeks to have a child. Then Jesus's story happens. Eventually, in his age, the god of the bible grew up and left us in his basement. Only to return during his midlife crisis where he plans to kill everybody and start over so he can feel like a kid again.
Slightly off topic, but the part about god making people homosexual for not worshipping him enough made me think about how a lot of these rules and things god did were based off how much people worshipped him and in order to make sure people keep worshipping him. And people say I'm selfish...
This sounds to me like 10 year olds talking to each other like: -"If you don't follow God you'r gay" -"I'm not gay, you are" -"No, you" And in the end nobody even bothered to explain the first premisse ever.
Leo Stamato Yeah, kids don't understand what either "God" or "gay" mean. Then they grow up, learn what gay is (with whatever baggage they may add to that). And define God (or fail to...but believe anyway) in myriad ways...but proudly wear the same X badge as others whose definitions are at odds.
IconoclastXVII. What about young people having same gender sex before the age of 12? It says that children aren't accountable for their actions prior to the age of (12). Help me understand this plz!!!
A correct translation of Leviticus 18:22 says "And with a male, thou shalt not lie down in a woman's bed; it is an abomination." Not only is the verse found in modern versions of the Bible a mistranslation the original phrase is reflective of an aspect of culture that doesn't exist in today's society. [BTW, if the version of the Bible you're reading uses the word homosexuality you might as well give up - that word wasn't coined until the late 19th century.]
+Superficially Steph - just because it's in modern English doesn't mean it's a correct translation. First question to ask is what version of the bible did the translators start with? If you check you're probably going to find that they started with the Latin version which is already a translation of the Greek which is a translation .... Those translations are not necessarily correct since they're translations of copies of copies of translations of copies .... In many cases the copyists didn't even speak the language they were copying. The important point is that a mistranslation or copyist's error at any stage means that all subsequent copies are going to be "wrong". That's a fancy way of saying that, unless the translators were working from the original texts in the original languages the simple fact that a Bible is in modern English does not mean it's correct. And there has been a significant amount of controversy over some of those modern translations. For example, the Revised Standard Version (RSV) correctly translates the Hebrew word "almah" used in Isaiah 7:14 as "young woman" rather than "virgin". That controversy has actually resulted in some conservative pastors burning the RSV in protest. As a complete aside, don't know if you know it but William Tysdale, the individual that first translated the bible to English, was burned at the stake for doing so - the claim was that he was perverting scripture when the real reason was political - an English version of the bible could be read by the people rather than being filtered thru the clergy (since most people couldn't read Latin and the standard of the day was the Latin Vulgate edition). Another complete aside - there are over 400,000 versions of the bible in existence (that's versions, not translations) and they don't all agree - think what that means in terms of any modern English translation - which one did they start with.
+Superficially Steph - it goes beyond not being translated correctly. In addition to translation errors there are copyists errors (remember that it was not uncommon for a copyist not to speak the language of the text he was copying) but texts were also changed to make it agree with the copyist's personal orthodoxy. And there are wholesale additions. For example, everyone is familiar with the story of Jesus and the adulteress ("Let he who is without sin ..."). Great story and wonderful moral but it doesn't appear in any version of the bible before the 12th century. Who added it is unknown. Or the gospel according to Mark - that book originally ended with Mark 16:8. Everything afterwards (Mark 16:9-20) does not appear in the earliest bibles in existence. It was added at a later date, probably to make it consistent with Matthew.
+Pasie Cake - Leviticus is part of the Old Testament and was not originally written in Greek. Translating the original text of Leviticus 18:22 results in something very different from that found in most modern bibles and refers to cultural norms that make zero sense today. hoperemains.webs.com/leviticus1822.htm Nothing to do with "boys"
Very good points. I'd like to mention, why do other people get to decide how I live my life is "allowed" or not? If your religious text says NO then don't do it. But to then take that and say NO ONE will be allowed is wrong. The bible also says not to have sex outside of marriage. Where are the calls for laws criminalizing this?

One thing I don't understand about Christians, is why they don't look back to the original texts when there is a translation problem causing a likely misinterpretation. Is it because they don't realize it's a translation? Maybe they assume other people already did? I get that most can't read those old languages, but many can. As for homosexuality in the old testament, there is good evidence of it being added later on when the politics of the region changed and that it was not in the inspired original laws. I personally think people don't really care to check these things because they like what they are hearing and choose not to think critically about any of it in the first place.
In sixth grade me and three other girls had an art project to do. Trace the outline of someone’s body on a large sheet of paper, and simply decorate it. The girls decided to draw a demon baby on the inside along with spider webs and such, it was nearing Halloween. The art teacher walked over to us and said “It looks nice, but...it might offend somebody.” We each look at each other, and one of the girls looks up at her and squints. “That cross on your wall offends me.” The art teacher took a deep breath and walked away. The next week our large demon baby was on the wall in the main hallway for everyone to see.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." The OT laws are still in effect.
The verses in Romans chapter one that you quoted do no say that God made people gay. Not even reading the context. The specific verse is Romans 1:24 "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves," and Romans 1:26,"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature." The verses say "God gave them up". In other words God just let them do whatever they wanted. It does not say God made them gay.
+Noe Ortiz That is true, but the problem is that some people are misusing those verses, and claiming that they condemn any and all homosexual sex for any reason, when they so obviously do not.
+Ifihada Hammer The bible does condem ALL homosexuality, and nobody wants to hear that... that is why they all try to work around it. Honestly it is the truth and once again people just dont like hearing that.
***** Romans 1: 18-32 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them."
One thing I recently hear and I like a lot. If God gave us the liberty to choose what we want to do, why do you (religious guy) want to force us by making these rules laws of the government? Aren't you going against god's will by doing that?
Tomayah mayo No... what I was implying is 1) we often learn from books, they are a great resource for learning especially history and 2) the age of the information does not matter if the information is accurate so even though we know from over 6000 years ago 2+2 does equal 4 we still hold on to that truth and don't act dismissive of it solely because of its age. And you do live your life by several books.

It's funny how some Christians use context as an excuse. It's bullshit. Are they really telling me that an omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent God couldn't fix a book that is meant to guide us towards him??? Sometimes the interpretation of some verses is so utterly stupid.

Funny that many people who would probably say "that's the old testament and was nullified by the new testament" are probably the same people who have a fit about removing the 10 commandments from courthouses. I've never heard anyone say the 10 commandments were nullified by the new testament.

On behalf of all the rude people(and there is alot) i would like to say sorry for your bad experiences. I can promise you that not all people are like that.
Amber Hites anyone can believe anything until their beliefs start to harm other people. if I believe all christians are hilariously naive (which I kind of do) that's ok but I can't try to lock them up in mental asylums or stone them to death.
I’m Catholic but my family doesn’t care about the clobberverses about homosexuality. We allow everyone in our family to have LGBTQ+ friends, allow LGBTQ+ people into our house; there was one girl on roblox who is LGBTQ+ and everyone in her town is homophobic, and she says that I am the nicest Christian ever, or something like that. And now that I think of it, if God doesn’t want people to be LGBTQ+, then why did he give us feelings for people of the same sex?
I think that people just need to realize that the bible or nothing in it was written by god himself! The bible was written by the high priests of that time and they added and embellished as they saw fit. Not all stories are true they are wrote to make a point. If you want to follow a verse follow this one if no other, there are others but I think this one says it all. Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
I'm born Catholic and I love this video. Keep up the good work man. People can be so stupid about things sometimes. I mean the Bible is only a weapon harmful when there's no logical thinking behind certain things. That includes most of the anti-gay arguments I hear people ranting about on the roadside. Thanks for showing people on both sides a completely objective view of things.
Thank you for sharing on FB. I am a Activist for the LGBT, and I am trying to get participation for my developing theory on Homosexuality...This is helpful....
One guy I know one told me a story about him getting shot point-blank in the right side of his chest. He was a "sinner" at the time and begun to drift off. He is now pleading for "God" to spare his life. When he wakes up he is in a coma and is told that he is in stable condition. He gives "God" all of the praise and props, but not once commended the effort and hard work of the doctor. He now claims it was the BLOOD OF GOD DRIVING THROUGH THEM TO DO WHAT THEY DID. -If there were no doctors or if the person that saw you hadn't called the ambulance (let's say the person is an athiest), what would pleading to an imaginary being so for you? You would be dead.

Put them in an exam class and let them interpret the paper how they want. After that they will see how much of a shame they have done and they will not graduate. The same with this vlogger also. After death, he will be so ashamed and will not enter in Hevaen.
Fr. I was raising an eyebrow at this video and even I'm a Christian. I keep it simple and believe it as is. Yknow? No mind boggling and racking brains and I'm honestly at peace
Before chutch the preacher asked me what I did last week and I told him that my son has a son that is a year old. I went on to say that it became apparent to me that my son lovrs his son very much and that got me wondering if my son loves his son more then he loves me. So to find out the answer I told my son to slit hid sons neck. The preacher then praised my actions and told me his sermon today was that of another father that did the same exact thing as I did. I said well praise the Lord and let's spread the good word to the rest of the congregation. OMG - Genesis 22:10 or should it read Genocide 22:10
There are several things wrong with these arguments. 1.) To say that God is calling every little thing an abomination is pulling verses out of context. Each of those verses you read have deeper meanings. For example "anything you cherish is an abomination". This is referring to God's commandment to not put anything non eternal at high value. (Take for example Matthew 6:33, just to name one verse). To place material items at equal higher value than eternal things is absolutely an abomination, even if some Christians leave this out. 2.) As far as Leviticus goes...I am what you would consider a "conservative" Christian, meaning I strive to keep my perspective eternal and not naturalistic, and I do not dismiss this verse at all. Leviticus is a set of laws written to the nations directly from God. At the time, God had laid down very specific laws as to how to handle each sin. My God hates sin, he is not a pushover who will tolerate some sin every once in a while. God loves his children, but He is ALWAYS just. A price must always be paid for our actions. In the Old Testament, an earthly sacrifice was always made. Now, we have Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price for all of our sins. We do not need to make sacrifices here on this earth. The price is paid through Christ if we accept him, and the price will be paid in hell for those who don't accept him. “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Matthew 5:17
*"There are several things wrong with these arguments. 1.) To say that God is calling every little thing an abomination is pulling verses out of context. Each of those verses you read have deeper meanings. For example "anything you cherish is an abomination". This is referring to God's commandment to not put anything non eternal at high value. (Take for example Matthew **6:33**, just to name one verse). To place material items at equal higher value than eternal things is absolutely an abomination, even if some Christians leave this out."* Well, you're actually taking his argument out of context. He was not reading the verses on abominations for the sole purpose of pointing out abomination, he was reading them to point out the picking and choosing that Christians undertake when they point to the Old Testaments classification of LGBT relationships as abominations, while concurrently ignoring the other abominations listed within the old testament. The context for why the specific abominations are considered as such is not relevant to his argument. The relevant argument is the hypocrisy of pointing to some while ignoring others. *"2.) As far as Leviticus goes...I am what you would consider a "conservative" Christian, meaning I strive to keep my perspective eternal and not naturalistic, and I do not dismiss this verse at all. Leviticus is a set of laws written to the nations directly from God."* If by "nations" you mean all nations on earth, that is incorrect. The Mosaic laws of the Old Testament were written solely for the Israelites. *"At the time, God had laid down very specific laws as to how to handle each sin. My God hates sin, he is not a pushover who will tolerate some sin every once in a while. God loves his children, but He is ALWAYS just."* Um, I have to take issue with this one. It is not just to commit infanticide. It is not just to commit genocide. It is not just to sanction and command the rape, pillory, and slavery which the god of the Old Testament commanded the Israelites to commit against the inhabitants of "The Promised Land." It is no less than what is being currently inflicted on the middle east by ISIS. It is not just to physically torture, for an eternity, a poor person who has stolen food to eat. It is not just to physically torture, for an eternity, an individual who has died without the opportunity to have accepted him, or a child who has died without the requisite acceptance of him. It is not just to torture for an eternity, an individual for who they have genuinely loved. It is not just for there to be a system in place, by which a serial killer could spend a lifetime torturing and brutalizing other human beings, then accept Christ as his savior before death and live an eternity in the bible's concept of heaven. I could keep listing things ad nausea but it would only labor the point. The god of the Bible is not just. *"A price must always be paid for our actions. In the Old Testament, an earthly sacrifice was always made."* This is nothing more than all other primitive religions notions of a blood sacrifice being sufficient to atone for wrong doings. There is no justice in the notion that one can do wrong, then spill the blood of an innocent creature to atone for that wrong. It's pure barbarism. *"Now, we have Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price for all of our sins. We do not need to make sacrifices here on this earth. The price is paid through Christ if we accept him, and the price will be paid in hell for those who don't accept him."* And that says all there is to say. This is no more than an abusive spouse who threatens to kill, maim and harm if his "love" is not reciprocated, and that is not love. There is nothing noble, enlightened, loving or just about this notion.
Apparently a person can be born into a religion with beliefs, and never understand any of the beliefs. For instance in Christianity it is (not) taught to hate or malign a gay person, although homosexuality is called a sin... it is the sin which is hated, not the sinner that needs true love, and this apparently some do not understand.
+DeWayne Benson Well god in bible clearly states he wishes homosexuals death, not love. god is literally telling to kill not to love. you really need to work on your text comprehension skills.
+truthseeker I have read Paul's letters in 7 languages, including Greek, and I have far more knowledge of Koine Greek and the context surrounding those 3 little verses you so love than you. Do you know why Paul wrote those letters, and why he was where he was when he wrote them. Do you know who he was writing about, and why they did what they were doing, do you even know where Paul was when he wrote those verses? Or, do you prefer to ignorantly take things at face value? Why did God give them over? When you answer that, you will have the answer to the most crucial aspect regarding the context those verses were written in. People like you do love to rip out verses from the inspired Word of God and their context, in some lame attempt to justify your own issues. FYI, for a homosexual to have sexual relations with someone of the opposite gender is unnatural and not normal for a homosexual.
*FOR ALL THE BELIEVERS* (or not) A lot of people have it twisted. Like he said, there are a lot of things getting misinterpreted. God forgives all sins, not one sin is greater then another. A SIN IS A SIN. He died for our sins. If he will forgive one killing his own child, why would he send gays to hell for loving whom they love? “All are welcomed, few are chosen” Rather one decides to “accept” gays or not, it is not our job as human sinners to sit there & tell someone they are going to hell because they’re sin is not our own sin. It’s Hippocratic, truthfully. The Bible also says adultery is sin, and so is sex before marriage. That is also VERY frowned upon, so what difference is there between those sins & the sin of being gay? God loves us all. & it’s his job, & his job only, to determine who gets to walk thru the gates of heaven or not. Not mine, not yours, not theirs.. but HIS. The job of a believer is to spread the word of Jesus, & that is it. Not to damn, or shame another sinner, because we are not greater. A mistake I feel a lot of us do, is judge, or focus, on other people’s paths instead of putting our 100% on our own paths. Which I feel defeats the purpose of peaching the Bible.
@@weirdbutawesome8703 She is 100% correct. I am no Bible scholar or preacher, but I do my research. Christianity is just about loving God first and loving others. That is it. In the terms of loving God is about following and trusting in Him to become more like Him. Once this manifests (by the Holy Spirit), you will love like God. How to do it is first Read his WORD and prayer. Caution: You might know how to, but staying in the WORD and prayer keeps you steadfast. In other words, don't think just because you prayed once and went to church and read a verse that you are better than anyone. Continuation. To love one another means yo accept them for whatever they are and whoever they are. Hard isn't it? That's why most people who say they are Christians fail (although it's not too late to change). It's hard because the way of the world is to categorize and label and place in a box with a glamorous stigma label and that's it. Jesus basically flips that. Just to love. As a Christian with a homosexual friend or associate or family member, don't go all preacher or "I'm better than you because I don't like my same sex" attitude. Rather, love. Jesus says that people (everyone in the whole world) will know who's you are (and who you serve) by how you LOVE. Now personally, this guy is a critique and I enjoy watching him.. not because I'm an anthiest - actually because I'm a Christian. (Plus I want to be a psychologist when I grow up and seeing people's minds on display is entertaining. I love philosophy as well). Even if this is so, I could answer close to, if not all of his assumptions and points but I respect his point of view up until the satire. Plus, who actually wants to - let alone has time for - responses for every athiest in the comment section? (As I write what I just sarcastically went off about 3 lines above. That's a discussion for a different day. 😅) Thesis : Love is the key.
A lot of verses aren't directed toward us as of today. Like when God said to silence the women in church and never let a women be a leader of a church , he didn't mean we should do that NOW. He meant, at that time, the women were screaming and speaking out of turn when in the church. At that time, it is what God said. But not now... Does what I'm saying make sense? I'm not a pastor or anything so I'm sorry if I didn't add an important detail. I'm still studying.
Well question everything deeply and don't let the easy way out of saying, (blind) faith fool you. If you believe, it's just faith. Faith is not studying merely believing.
Jurnei Deutschman Except he didn’t say that. He said that about a specific church in a group of people. And the same person who wrote that book appointed women as leaders and says that. Do you see how you need to read a little bit more than one verse out of context to understand? Once again atheist demonstrate they don’t have reasoning skills or understand the religion they want to criticize. Because I mean you are objectively wrong. Read the last chapter of Romans if you don’t believe me. You also have to understand the difference between the culture back then and something being excepted or offensive and something being considered a sin. Paul also says not to do plenty of things that aren’t immoral lol
The fact that the Bible is not clear on homosexuality says a lot, I could go into all kinds of detail on the translations etc but it seems so unlikely that it would matter.
Hi, Hemant In Matthew, Jesus says something along the lines of: Whatever you hold true on Earth shall be held true in Heaven, and whatever you discard on Earth shall be discarded in Heaven. Doesn't this mean that we get to change our laws to suit our society, and not go to hell for it? I mean, we're not killing witches, heretics, or unruly children anymore, even though the Bible specifically commands it. I think it's time to discard all of the condemnations of Leviticus, not just the ones about seafood.
As a Christian I tend to interpret the bible based on the two greatest commandments as defined by Matthew 22 verses 34-40 which state that the two greatest commandments are to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength" and to "Love thy neighbor as thyself" Which means to love others as yourself, so if any other commands make me feel that I am not treating someone as I would want them to treat me I would just flat out disregard it.
@@gregsudmeier6897 Ok? I didn't attribute these verses to anyone in particular, so I don't understand the purpose of what you're saying. Also, odd choice to reply to a seven year old comment.
Coming from a fundamentalist Christian upbringing I was versed in the arguments against homosexuality. I was also aware of the counter arguments. As I began to reject my lifelong beliefs we began attending a liberal mainline church that is very openly gay friendly, as many are. While I laud the liberal churches on their acceptance I'd realized over the years and came to solidify my understanding that one denominations exegesis is another's eisegesis and vice versa. And with that, as I came to reject the Bible and Jesus as god, I say, throw the baby out with the bathwater. The Bible is like a broken clock. Just because it's right a couple times a day didn't make it worthwhile as a guide for life.
God does not make them gay. They choose it first. You need an english lesson. vs. 26 " For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:" Now it gives the cause "Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." Working around verses will help you end up in hell.
Marquez Garner He is correct, and how would explain everything that happening is in the bible, which prove his statement that god doesn't create our story from the time were born to the time we die, There is no free will.
How Christians justify supporting homosexuality despite certain Bible verses: Leviticus Chapter 18 - In context, gay sex is only an abomination if done in a Pagan temple (wtf??). Leviticus Chapter 20 - Let's pretend this one doesn't exist. Besides, this is in the Old Testament, which is nullified by the New Testament (even though the word of an omni-benevolent, all-knowing being shouldn't be wrong to begin with). Romans Chapter 1 - Paul said some silly things, we shouldn't take him seriously (even though this would mean the Bible isn't infallible, opening up a can of worms in regards to the credibility of the rest of the book). Also, more Pagan temples. How atheists justify supporting homosexuality despite certain Bible verses: Leviticus Chapter 18 - The Bible is bullshit. Leviticus Chapter 20 - The Bible is bullshit. Romans Chapter 1 - The Bible is bullshit. Being a good person is so much simpler when you're an atheist.
HappyToBeReligionFree No Christian that practices the Bible would have an inherent problem with someone who disagrees with them; if any do they are practicing hypocrisy.
Deli Cheese I've been in many discussions with theists here on TH-cam. Any dissent is usually met with a range from mild anger to outright vitriol. Tolerance is merely an illusion. That said, Christianity doesn't appear to be the fast track to any sort of politeness. To quote Steven Weinberg, "With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion."
HOwLY GAAAAAAAAWDDD FUCK, ME TOO!!!!!!! Such an entertaining book, specially if you're into blood and violence and extra super natural things that if someone claimed today they'd be reported and thrown into a mental asylum.
Grant McGough Every Christian church should follow that acceptance. Christ's teaching is to love the sinner, and hate the sin. Sin is NOT only sexual error.
BT Movie Correct, the Gay should be invited into the church, here with the HS and gifts of the church, these people could be helped. Churches that ordain the Gay however, is not a church I would attend.
ColtDeltaElite10mm... Those that say they are not a sinner, are a liar, also in this life is the natural that can be seen, and the spiritual that cannot. Christ sent us (into) the world, not to demonize, but as witnesses to save souls: Rom 7:13-20 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. NKJV
ColtDeltaElite10mm... 1 Cor 2:13-14 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. NKJV In James 3:1 apparently you also did not understand. Recently I was accused of being a preacher, and I responded instead my posts spoke boldly, as Christ commanded His followers. You do not have to be a preacher nor teacher to be mature in the word of the Lord God, just know His word and be truthful.
That primitive and evil book of contradictions has been so grossly misunderstood and misinterpreted that it has caused untold suffering in the world. It can be used to justify any sort of evil and has been for eons.
So, I have a dilemma. Whenever I try to point out all the immoral things in the old testament, mainly Leviticus, to my mother, she always says I'm "taking it out of context." I find her retort to me is just a way to try to justify herself. I'm not exactly sure my retort to this. Does any one have any ideas on how I can have an "intelligent" conversation with her, without my point being shot down immediately?
You could open up a bible and show her exactly where the verses are and she'll see that you weren't taking them out of context at all. I have religious friends that always say I'm taking verses out of context or if it's from the Old Testament the verses are no longer "relevant". So if she's super about Jesus, that's probably what she'll say back. Just say this back, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." Matthew 5:17. (It's a quote from Jesus) But anyway, if she isn't willing to listen at all, there's not much of a point.
Ohoh, or you could direct her to the Skeptics Annotated Bible website. There's a section where you can click on "hatred", "murder", "sexism", "rape" all that stuff and find huge lists of everywhere those subjects come up in the bible. It's pretty rad.
You want a resolution for you dilemma? Don't have them altogether. Trust me, my Mom is the same, when I first got into Atheism I used to have debates with mine and just like your mom she always say something of that nature repeatedly in almost all arguments because her mind is basically programmed to trust in God no matter what. There's not really anything you can say to change that. It's best if you just enjoy your time with your mother in doing other things than engaging at this endless cycle of debates.
I do realize that her brain is programmed that way. I find it extremely ironic when she states all the good "god" has brought, yet disregards all the bad things. It does seem more logical to just stop, by that I mean, 3 years of hearing the same things should have given me the hint that she can't come up with a logical retort. Thanks for the advice.
Im not Atheist, and was raised in the south in a Baptist Christian church and trust me when i say this. I love that this video brought the topic to mind. I discussed this with mu church community and everything he said was true. People have different views of the bible and i apprecaite the views from both sides.
As a Christian you should have loved this. He is not an atheist. He is arguing to try to convert homosexuals into christianity. Most christians want to do that because they know that their beliefs are dying off faster with each generation, and they are afraid of not being to conn enough money out of people their money to support the vast wealth of churches. Both he and people like you are the only true evil in this world.
I know! Being an abomination is great! You get the racial HD of a Magical Beast of your level, A sizable bonus to your strength, dexterity, and constitution, and a 50% chance to gain any special abilities of whichever person or creature was the base for accruing the template, all for just +1 CR!
Equating all laws in the Old Testament to each other shows a misunderstanding of Christ's purpose and the scope of his mission. He changed _ceremonial laws_ and _dietary laws_, but _Natural Law_ (e.g. sexuality) remained. Thus, the verses quoted regarding fish and goats are irrelevant. I'm not sure how we can conclude that God makes someone homosexual from that passage (Romans). I'm not here to argue homosexuality is _choice_ or if people are _born this way_, but the passage itself merely shows that the people have chosen against God by _acting on their passions_. God doesn't inhibit their free will. Ultimately, the sin is not in _having homosexual temptations_, but in _acting out_ on them, which these people did. Perhaps the most applicable passage to marriage and human sexuality is in Matt 19:5, "Have you not heard that from the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So, they are no long two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no two shall separate." From a secular and religious pov, the above passage is a great explanation of the purpose of man and woman's unitive and reproductive nature. They were and are, as we see from a natural pov, intended for each other. We can simply _appeal to nature_ to explain that marriage between a man and a woman is a commitment to what nature has intended for us. With that said, hatred toward any group of people is unethical. Tolerance, however, applies only to people, and never to principles.
Jay Lyons because the bible says so (thanks to our friend leviticus). She said that the bible is mostly made of metaphors and life lessons, i wonder what that particular phrase really means And rember that the bible also says that the new testament supports the old testament.
Leviticus 18:22 is about lesbians as well which is common sense that didn't need to be mentioned for both and back in the days people only referred to men when speaking.
Deuteronomy 23:2 “No one born of a forbidden union may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord." So, limbo or bust.
Ok let me just tell all of you people who are gay i am a Christian. I’m supposed to hate gay people but I don’t. Is that a sin? I don’t know but let me say I think everyone deserves a chance to love even if it’s with their own gender people tell me your supposed to follow all the rules of the Bible but I don’t that doesn’t make me less of a Christian it just something I’m still trying to grip I may be Christian but I don’t hate you guys because your just trying to love you can be lesbian gay straight and more and I can be Christian but that doesn’t mean I hate you guys I’m loving you because that is what the Bible says to love everybody also I don’t think it’s a sin.
i get that the bible is about as clear as sewage (and about as valuable too) and pointing that out is interesting and often times necessary, but haven't we as modern societies reached the point where it shouldn't matter what the bible says about anything, because it shouldn't have any effect on the laws that we make? seperation of church and state is wonderful thing for both the state and the church, so dear believers, please do us all a favor and stop interjecting your beliefs into state-business, and we make sure that the state doesn't interfere with your churches...deal?
Sure, we should be at that point. And I think we're approaching it. Or at least headed there. But its not just legislation that's formed by religion. Religion influences society (through baked-in cultural values) and society influences religion.
maybe i wasn't too clear myself (oh the irony... don't minde me, i'll just go stand shamefully in the corner), so let me try to make my point more precise. as modern societies we have been able to show all the times the bible's claims are wrong, yet we still allow it to dictate aspects of our lives because it claims to be the word of god... regardless of our stance on the existance of god, we should have come to the conclusion that this book certainly isn't his/her word, and it should be treated as what it actually is: a poorly written fiction novel, shamelessly copying myths that came before it
Torqas Bell Since religious institutions are tax-exempt, they are a financial liability on the general populace, and therefore subject to our scrutiny. Also, they attempt to control a person's thoughts, a clear violation of personal freedom. So, churches, pay your own way in society, and realize that you can't establish thought crimes. Maybe then we'll leave you alone. Maybe. And stop lying to people. You don't have any evidence, so stop presenting your gibberish as the truth.
Torqas Bell No, Religion holds the world together. Without it. No one would value life. People do good on earth in fear of eternal hell. If they didn’t fear suffering why would they do good?? If I won’t be punished for killing someone then why not?! Not only that. But religion sets certain standards for reasons. Look at all the chaos being caused by people wanting to be gay. None of this would happen if everyone stuck to traditional values and people trying to be rebellious. Religions also protect people from fear as well. An atheist man at age 80 is scared of death thinking nothing exist. But a 80 year old Christian doesn’t fear death because he knows he is going somewhere good. religion is only bad when you decide to be rebellious to it
Ashley Hall Religions protect people who fall into certain categories. Religious activists in the U.S advocate for the death of minorities and religion itself has been used as a justification for murder and slavery of pagans, and other groups who may not even be comitting atrocities on the grounds that they do not believe in the same god or are inferior. Who the hell wants to be gay in a world where you can be killed for it, and overpopulation is a serious problem. People just *are* what they are and choose to accept it. Religion if anything divides people into tribes and categories and prevents them from coming together to achieve greater living. Also your value of life argument is relative. Personally to me if there is an afterlife, the normal life loses its significance. Even Christians and believers of similar faiths are afraid and flagellate themselves on not being worthy of going to heaven. Its quite a spectacle. When I do nice things for people I dont think about hell. Why do you assume that everyone else does. What a shallow way of thinking. I only do good because it only helps me? People have this thing called empathy and thats why we havent begun stoning people to death over dumb fucking things (yet). The best part is, you dont need religion to sit down and think about other people. Just because you may find value in your own life due to religion does not mean you do not strip away the value of other lives in the pursuit of it.
I like how you read 1 Corinthians 9-10 and conviently leave out 11 "11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." That's literally one of the most important quotes in the bible. Nice way to take 9-10 completely out of context. Credibility=0
7:27 "it's silly for anyone to say we should use the Bible as a rulebook for life. With so many ways to interpret it, it's not very helpful at all" Catholics would agree with you on this. This argument is only effective against Protestants with their "sola scriptura" principle. The rulebook for Catholics is Catechism of the Catholic Church.
There is also that I've at least heard some people say that "lying with mankind as one would womankind" means to hold a man to the same lowered standards as women, insulting the man and calling him weak. Of course, this isn't saying that women should be held to those standards, it's just that women at least used to be held as being below men. Granted, of course, that that doesn't take into account the bit of both parties having committed a sin, and thus should be put to death.
Hey guys guess what, GOD didn't write the bible. People who believed in him did. If you had the ability to write a book of rules then wouldn't u include some of your own concerns too. Also there is the case that if back then homosexuality was very uncommon and considered wrong by all it would still be put in the bible even if God specifically think against gays.
No, but he supposedly did have his "creations" write the book for him since he's apparently too lazy to do it himself. So, why couldn't man get it right? Oh, maybe because man isn't perfect. Oh but wait, if man isn't perfect, then a perfect being couldn't have made them...which means god isn't perfect. But if god isn't perfect, he can't be the all powerful, all knowing god that he claims to be... Maybe, just maybe, the bible was made up by humans who were trying to control the rest of us by promising eternal paradise or eternal torture.
KitsuneKitty22 Homosexuality was quite accepted at the time, hence my comment regarding the exigence of the Bible on going against popular belief. The idea that you can be superior to other people is partially due to the belief that you are unlike them in a superior way (one God ruling in your favor against a pantheon of Gods randomly dictating your luck is a good way to go about it, and what better way to sell it whilst expressing your disdain for such unfavorable gods than going against them?) is very powerful and easy to sell. And I totally agree with your comment, it speaks the truth (or T, as we drag-queens like to put it).
Voltage 67o and why God gave you the free wheel to do whatever you want you control your own choices get your facts right. I'm done talking to you peace out.
Truth, still if they were created by "God" they would know that they should not eat the apple and still perfect people created by a perfect God would have common sense, so that makes them STUPID on top of everything. I don't care really is garbage to me. A fairytale.
+Karolyn Matías If God made everything perfect then time wouldn't exist because there would be no imbalance to correct. The imperfections allow for work to be done which allows for beings to go through time. We are given the ability to work towards impossible perfection. An eternal journey for mankind to pursue. I would take part in it and not complain about it being imperfect because that allows for possibility and progression.

It breaks my heart when I see gay people falling for these terror passages. What your missing my friend is 2 things context and language. Leviticus was written in Hebrew and the New Testament was written in ancient Greek. English is a horrible translation of Hebrew and Greek. For instance the Jews had several words that were translated as abomination. In Lev 18:22 the word Toevah is used which meant idolatry, witchcraft. In the passage talking about forbidden foods the word Shequets is used which referred to dietary violations. Romans 1 is clearly idolatry, you have to read the entire chapter. Any book can be taken out of context without reading the entire story. Look at the story of Jonathan and David. David said he loves Jonathan more than that of a woman. The Bible says they kissed and embraced one another. And the word love used in the passage was a romantic love.
Gay Christian I'm sure you have simalar excuses for the passages talking about magic rings and dragons... I have no doubt that you could explain the bible claiming that birds blood can cure leprosy...Or the promotion of slavery and genocide... I'm sure all this nonsense and bullshit can be explained away... In the mean time get on your knees (see what I did there?), clasp your hand in prayer and stand aside. The days when assholes use mythology to justify atrocities are OVER. Let it go or die clinging to it, it makes no difference.
Lucky Sevans Look I'm not trying to start a quarrel with anyone. I don't have all the answers. I live by faith in something greater than myself...greater than what this world has to offer. Jesus gives me that hope. You can spend the rest of your life making fun of it but it's not going to change your situation. There will be people of faith on earth probably your entire life.
Gay Christian I understand your not trying to fight/quarrel believe it or not I'm not either. I also do not have "all the answers" but then again I didn't ask you for any answers much less all of them... You live primarily by the blood pumping through your veins... and make no mistake if atheists lose this struggle against religion you will be dragged from your home and have rocks thrown at you until that blood stops flowing, and so will I... This has happened repeatedly through out history. I'm not "making fun" of anything... and I think it very telling that my reciting what the bible says is considered "making fun". I have no desire for my situation to change... I have a wonderful life, sure I've been through hardships but I wouldn't change a thing, except my nose I have a comically large nose. And yes there are many who will continue to believe in an imaginary sky god long after I'm dead, this changes nothing.
Gay Christian No I am not, infact I haven't cited any verses at all. The only position I've taken is 1: I do not believe god exists 2: religion is evil.
The bible has many contradictions and so much is open to interpretation. That's why it's not infallible. Many books and letters were banned from the bible and it was decided by the early church. The bible has some great guidelines for living but men wrote the books and men decided to put it together. And why would God set up people to fail? Most gay people aren't gay by choice. Their brains are wired differently. One must also look at the time and culture in which these books were written. They were written to an ancient culture.
Dan Miller Dan its merely a book that testifies of His character and nature. Jesus said that. Christians a lot of times treat it like a book of commandments and rules.
Silverbug 19 Where are the errors and contradictions? Littered all over. I'm not trying to diminish the bible, I just cannot see how it could be from God. Context doesn't erase errors.
God didn't give us His Word so we can decide what it means. There is no "Interpret it as you want to." That is close-minded and molding God into your own ideal image, when we are suppose to be made in His image. When we open the Word of God, we're suppose to open our minds to hear from Him. We've all had people twists our words. "That's not what I meant." It's infuriating, isn't it? God's Word is sacred, so when interpret it to fit our own ideas and views, we are not just twisting a friend's words, but we are blaspheming and perverting the holy Word of God.

I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, and was told that gay people are wrong. Most of my life, I was blindly making jokes about gay people, not even fully understanding what it meant. Boy, was I surprised growing up to realize I that I'm an agnostic atheist lesbian...
Enigma Sorts Brilliant!
Are you agnostic or atheist? You can't be both, they contradict each other.

+MementoMori religion can be harmful and prevent some scientific advancements.
Turtle Neckson Hello! I wanna mention that you seem to assume advancing science and preventing harmful religion are the objectives of our lives. If atheism is true so that there is no objective given by God, what's more to do? Why should we seek to advance at all?
If the New Testament was written to nullify the Old Testament, why is it still in the Bible, and why did God have to correct himself to begin with?
+truthseeker Hey, I can make assertions and claim them to be true too. Mind offering some examples of how I'm "Such an idiot?" If not, move along.
+Jacob Pohlabel I have no idea why God would change his mind, but Jesus preached love so that is a plus.
***** the kind of warning a parent gives a child is much different than a warning given by God. Parents will always say to their kids "look both ways before crossing the street, or you could get run over."

"Be merciful to the poor"
As if the intent of the author writing about how gays are all going to perish in a lake of fire, or how a woman who gets raped can also be stoned to death 'because she didn't scream loud enough', is any justification for the bullshit to be written to begin with.
But then they ignore the fact that “Love overules all sins” is said in the bible sooooo....

Those who had hallunications never came back with something tangible to prove the veracity of their claims, of their experience, while those who had a personal experience with God or in the spiritual realm came back with tangible proof in the form of the following:
Case in point:
1. DR. EBEN ALEXANDER, BRAIN SURGEON
He only came to know that he had a sister after his near death experience.

Holly shit. My mind is blown.
how do Christians react to the fact that "virgin" and "young woman" were often synonymous and therefore didn't have separate words?
Slightly off topic, but the part about god making people homosexual for not worshipping him enough made me think about how a lot of these rules and things god did were based off how much people worshipped him and in order to make sure people keep worshipping him. And people say I'm selfish...
I know right! And people would probably answer that by saying that "he made this whole universe, of course we have to worship him"..
This sounds to me like 10 year olds talking to each other like:
-"If you don't follow God you'r gay"
-"I'm not gay, you are"
-"No, you"
And in the end nobody even bothered to explain the first premisse ever.

A correct translation of Leviticus 18:22 says
"And with a male, thou shalt not lie down in a woman's bed; it is an abomination."
Not only is the verse found in modern versions of the Bible a mistranslation the original phrase is reflective of an aspect of culture that doesn't exist in today's society.

Nothing to do with "boys"
So, don't cheat on your wife with another man. Simple enough. Don't cheat.
@Pastor Craig Is that in the original Aramaic, or a modern translation?
But why do you think sexual immorality includes homosexuality?

That all is good, but you need to respect other people's feelings as well. Just sayin

Some in visions and dreams, while others had such mind boggling experience during NDE [near death experience]. These people who have such claims come from different ethnicities, social and educational backgrounds, and religious beliefs [including atheists]
You may say it's just an hallucination...but
Do you know what truly spells the difference between those who just had hallucinations with those who had a real personal experience with God and the spiritual realm?
Those who had hallunications never came back with something tangible to prove the veracity of their claims, of their experience, while those who had a personal experience with God or in the spiritual realm came back with tangible proof in the form of the following:
Case in point:
1. DR. EBEN ALEXANDER, BRAIN SURGEON
He only came to know that he had a sister after his near death experience.
I think Leviticus was a closeted homosexual. It's common for them to lash out in denial.
Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
The OT laws are still in effect.
The verses in Romans chapter one that you quoted do no say that God made people gay. Not even reading the context.
The specific verse is Romans 1:24 "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,"
and Romans 1:26,"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature."
The verses say "God gave them up". In other words God just let them do whatever they wanted. It does not say God made them gay.
+Noe Ortiz
That is true, but the problem is that some people are misusing those verses, and claiming that they condemn any and all homosexual sex for any reason, when they so obviously do not.

+Ifihada Hammer The bible does condem ALL homosexuality, and nobody wants to hear that... that is why they all try to work around it. Honestly it is the truth and once again people just dont like hearing that.
Joanna Naegeli Where does the BIble condemn 2 members of the same sex in a loving and committed relationship?
***** Romans 1: 18-32
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

Funny that many people who would probably say "that's the old testament and was nullified by the new testament" are probably the same people who have a fit about removing the 10 commandments from courthouses. I've never heard anyone say the 10 commandments were nullified by the new testament.
It doesnt matter what the bible says until you can prove the validity of the bible itself, in my opinion.
of course bible is not valid but unfortunately it has a wide impact on our lives as billions of people take it seriously
That's what I always tell these ignorant Christians. Especially my mom
I'm sorry but we have a right to believe that homosexuality is wrong just like you have a right to believe that it is right. I get that some people that are Christians are very rude to the people and supporters of these causes but it doesn't mean that all Christians are like this. On behalf of all the rude people(and there is alot) i would like to say sorry for your bad experiences. I can promise you that not all people are like that.

Exactly what i was trying to say.
The Lamborghini Show Spoilers god aint real. This is just one more thing that proves it.
Luke 6:37
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Well, you're actually taking his argument out of context.
Leviticus is a set of laws written to the nations directly from God."*
If by "nations" you mean all nations on earth, that is incorrect. The Mosaic laws of the Old Testament were written solely for the Israelites.
*"At the time, God had laid down very specific laws as to how to handle each sin. My God hates sin, he is not a pushover who will tolerate some sin every once in a while. God loves his children, but He is ALWAYS just."*
Um, I have to take issue with this one.
In the Old Testament, an earthly sacrifice was always made."*
This is nothing more than all other primitive religions notions of a blood sacrifice being sufficient to atone for wrong doings. There is no justice in the notion that one can do wrong, then spill the blood of an innocent creature to atone for that wrong. It's pure barbarism.
*"Now, we have Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price for all of our sins. We do not need to make sacrifices here on this earth. The price is paid through Christ if we accept him, and the price will be paid in hell for those who don't accept him."*
And that says all there is to say.

I have read Paul's letters in 7 languages, including Greek, and I have far more knowledge of Koine Greek and the context surrounding those 3 little verses you so love than you.
*FOR ALL THE BELIEVERS* (or not)
A lot of people have it twisted. Like he said, there are a lot of things getting misinterpreted.
God forgives all sins, not one sin is greater then another. A SIN IS A SIN. He died for our sins. If he will forgive one killing his own child, why would he send gays to hell for loving whom they love?
“All are welcomed, few are chosen”
Rather one decides to “accept” gays or not, it is not our job as human sinners to sit there & tell someone they are going to hell because they’re sin is not our own sin.
I absolutely agree, i pray the holds you secure in these uncertain times. jesus keep and bless you
So why??!!? Why are there so many goddamn homophobic Christians? I honestly just dont wanna follow the religion anymore

Plus, who actually wants to - let alone has time for - responses for every athiest in the comment section? (As I write what I just sarcastically went off about 3 lines above. That's a discussion for a different day. 😅)
Thesis : Love is the key.
Rommel Cruz Sager I suppose so.
But my church has a female pastor. She went to school and everything. ?
Jurnei Deutschman... what a false teacher are you! Shut up woman. This happens when Woman tries to preach. She lies.
Hi, Hemant
In Matthew, Jesus says something along the lines of: Whatever you hold true on Earth shall be held true in Heaven, and whatever you discard on Earth shall be discarded in Heaven.
It would certainly appear to be so
As a Christian I tend to interpret the bible based on the two greatest commandments as defined by Matthew 22 verses 34-40 which state that the two greatest commandments are to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength" and to "Love thy neighbor as thyself" Which means to love others as yourself, so if any other commands make me feel that I am not treating someone as I would want them to treat me I would just flat out disregard it.
The New Testament verses reference Deut. 6:4-5, and Leviticus 19:18. Jesus didn’t make up the concepts, he quoted them.
@@gregsudmeier6897 Ok? I didn't attribute these verses to anyone in particular, so I don't understand the purpose of what you're saying. Also, odd choice to reply to a seven year old comment.
Thank you for approaching this in an unbiased way.
You need an english lesson. vs. 26 " For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:"
Now it gives the cause "Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."

Being a good person is so much simpler when you're an atheist.
"Good people do good things. Bad people do bad things. It takes religion for good people to do bad things"
+Christian Dauz That quote sounds familiar, who said it?
MrAsav
Steven Weinberg
Thanks
I thought that quote was from Christopher Hitchens.
Well put together video. Nicely explained.
Liberal Christians? Like free prisoners?
Precisely.
What are you talking about? Christianity believe in freewill; you cannot get much more liberal than that.
Deli Cheese Free will, as long as you do what they say. Disagree with them and see what happens.
HappyToBeReligionFree
No Christian that practices the Bible would have an inherent problem with someone who disagrees with them; if any do they are practicing hypocrisy.
"if they're seeking the Lord in good faith, who am i to judge?"
-POPE FRANCIS
"In this world there is Advantages and Disadvantages"

I love the bible.
It's my favorite fictional novel.
Love it :)
HOwLY GAAAAAAAAWDDD FUCK, ME TOO!!!!!!! Such an entertaining book, specially if you're into blood and violence and extra super natural things that if someone claimed today they'd be reported and thrown into a mental asylum.
Real original
When I read the bible, it feels like I'm talking to a mentally unstable three-year-old.
You are now my favorite human
I go to an episcopal church, or the Church of England. We are very accepting, and accept the LGBT community.
Grant McGough Every Christian church should follow that acceptance. Christ's teaching is to love the sinner, and hate the sin. Sin is NOT only sexual error.
DeWayne Benson Yup
1 Cor 2:13-14
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
NKJV
In James 3:1 apparently you also did not understand.
Wouldn't it be much simpler if politicians just kept their beliefs out of politics?
(It's a quote from Jesus)
But anyway, if she isn't willing to listen at all, there's not much of a point.
Ohoh, or you could direct her to the Skeptics Annotated Bible website. There's a section where you can click on "hatred", "murder", "sexism", "rape" all that stuff and find huge lists of everywhere those subjects come up in the bible. It's pretty rad.
Ask her what the correct context is. "What is the context in which killing children for being disobedient is okay?"
We need more books and videos like this. Thank you!
Randy D. If he's not, an atheist. Why is the channel named atheist voice?
Dude I really like your videos my parents have try to push religion on me I watch your videos to help justify my belief
the abomination part is fine but you've crossed the line with the killing, God. that's a big no-no. shame on you
I know! Being an abomination is great! You get the racial HD of a Magical Beast of your level, A sizable bonus to your strength, dexterity, and constitution, and a 50% chance to gain any special abilities of whichever person or creature was the base for accruing the template, all for just +1 CR!
Kyle Rhulain
Really? I thought it made you immune to radiation....
Why does nobody ever discuss the homosexual love affair between David and Jonathan?
No doubt in my mind that they were in love.
+Allan Provost Right???
they didn't have a homosexual love affair
David and Jonathan were not gay. They loved one another as brothers.
yes yes. maybe. maybe not. and if not you'd never admit it. so you crazy christians are not a reliable source.
helenvalentine95 "Crazy Christians would never admit it"
Like condescending bigoted atheists won't admit that homosexuality is a sin ;-)
if you're saying the bible is politically incorrect you're rite
Therefore, what God has joined together, no two shall separate."
From a secular and religious pov, the above passage is a great explanation of the purpose of man and woman's unitive and reproductive nature.
Hement, can you do a video about what the bible says about people with disabalaties?
The Bible is meant to be taken more metaphorically than literally. Learning lessons rather than rules.
Then why doesn't the Bible say that?
Uh not when it was written it was written to control a populace it was meant to be literal.. 2000 years ago..
I hope "God" too is a metaphor..lol.. Then really we can club Bible with Harry Potter series..
Marcus Aragão
Why must they die?
Jay Lyons because the bible says so (thanks to our friend leviticus).
She said that the bible is mostly made of metaphors and life lessons, i wonder what that particular phrase really means
And rember that the bible also says that the new testament supports the old testament.
Leviticus 18:22 is about lesbians as well which is common sense that didn't need to be mentioned for both and back in the days people only referred to men when speaking.
all i can say. bible is really full of contradiction.
I'm not, I'm a bastard. My mom and dad weren't married, so I'm doomed to either burn forever, or sit alone, forever, because I was born.
Only if you believe in Catholicism bro.
Deuteronomy 23:2
“No one born of a forbidden union may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord."
So, limbo or bust.
Though that might be something only Catholics care about.
Muffinie Puffs
Meh, fuck the bible.
love how this guy respects the bible and doesn't talk in a smart ass way. Thanks for the video 👍👍
To say the Apostle Paul, 'Said a lot of silly things', is one of the biggest understatements I've heard in awhile.
With so many ways to interpret it, it's not very helpful at all"
Catholics would agree with you on this. This argument is only effective against Protestants with their "sola scriptura" principle. The rulebook for Catholics is Catechism of the Catholic Church.
I don't understand, did Jesus himself ever said that homosexually is a sin?
rosa Homosexuality? No. Divorce? Yes! They talked about it in the Good Wife!
Throughout the Bible it says that God punished the gay people
I am very interested about that book. I am not religious but theology is fascinating to me, as me previous comment already hinted. :)
We have an atheist interpreting Scripture !?
HAHAHAHAHA !
I see you didn't actually watch the video.
HAHAHAHAHA !
2:51 my dad read that verse to me...he knows I'm bisexual....
My dad likes that verse ;-;
Oof
I fucked it a bit with the Jesus part (some of the abraamic religions don't accept the new testament...), but the point still stands.
K, I'm done now.
According to the bible, and other Christians, god gave them the knowledge to write in the book.
Jesus loves everyone but he hates the sin they do
To sin means to violate the will of a deity. Without evidence that a deity exists, there is no evidence that anybody can sin.
Jesus loved them but if they hate Jesus then Jesus is their enemy.
Religion is a scam. Stop spreading our bullshit down innocent people.
Voltage 67o and why God gave you the free wheel to do whatever you want you control your own choices get your facts right. I'm done talking to you peace out.
3Of1Mil I completely agree. I think that they probably just made it up to get money or divide people for whatever reason.
And they say god loves us no matter what
And they say that if you sin a lot you go to Hell
I believe in God and Jesus but I don't take everything the bible says to heart. It's so outdated that we can't really.
That's a sad way to look at it.
BASSFZz Well I'm pretty happy...
Elisabeth Grace I didn't say you weren't happy.
BASSFZz What did you mean then?
Elisabeth Grace I mean there's a lot of knowledge these ancient people had. To write then off as outdated is incredibly sad.
Some people deserve no response.
I have a good one: if "God" is so fucking perfect why he created us imperfect? perfect can't create imperfect things. A good contradiction
Truth, still if they were created by "God" they would know that they should not eat the apple and still perfect people created by a perfect God would have common sense, so that makes them STUPID on top of everything. I don't care really is garbage to me. A fairytale.
And you know What's funny? That a believer is watching an Atheists video that's more funny 👏

I don't complain of being imperfect, What I was trying to say in my statement is that is impossible a perfect God, there's nothing perfect.
Gay Christian
I understand your not trying to fight/quarrel believe it or not I'm not either.
Lucky Sevans Aren't you doing the same thing bigoted Christians do? Twist verses to suit a particular position?
Gay Christian No I am not, infact I haven't cited any verses at all. The only position I've taken is 1: I do not believe god exists 2: religion is evil.
The bible has many contradictions and so much is open to interpretation. That's why it's not infallible. Many books and letters were banned from the bible and it was decided by the early church. The bible has some great guidelines for living but men wrote the books and men decided to put it together. And why would God set up people to fail? Most gay people aren't gay by choice. Their brains are wired differently. One must also look at the time and culture in which these books were written. They were written to an ancient culture.
Exactly. The bible presents a contradictory, maniacal (among other things) God. Jesus presents a loving father.
Dan Miller Dan its merely a book that testifies of His character and nature. Jesus said that. Christians a lot of times treat it like a book of commandments and rules.
Silverbug 19 Christians view it as the written word of God which, to me, is preposterous, considering its many errors and contradictions.
Amy K Where? Read contextually.
God's Word is sacred, so when interpret it to fit our own ideas and views, we are not just twisting a friend's words, but we are blaspheming and perverting the holy Word of God.
the bible is filled with contradictions. and the only way to sort out witch ones to follow is to interpret.
Just like Yah created us why didn’t he create the book
God is all powerful! He is able to clean your heart from all unrighteousness!
Yet there are still innocent people dying each day.
Marlicka Laronde the fuck you talking about
Rice 米 everything happens for a reason God is God and that’s that.
Nicole Holmes what reason then, fucker?
Amen
After I read the bible..
It gaves me 20% of answers but left 80% of questions in my mind
Like why did ever God did this laws?
