I remember a few years back Motor Trend had their entire crew and employees launch and abuse the 911 Turbo S back to back to see if the car will ever break , overheat or lock out the launch control. They did 50 or so back to back launches nonstop and the 0-60 time was consistent every single time with no heatsoak/overheating. Pretty freaking impressive for a car with the motor in the trunk lol.

I was at a shop once in my $500 pos, when one of the mechanics pointed out a BMW that was there for 4x $1200 a piece tires!!! That's like almost 10 times what my entire car cost, just for 4 tires!!! I could not imagine paying that much for tires, even if I could afford it!!! I mean, wtf!!!
I own a 991.1 turbo S. Some things to consider. You will not get any foliage into the side intakes. You definitely need to upgrade the exhaust (I have a soul and highly recommended). Additionally, you need to get grates for the front lower bumper intakes, you will get a ton of leaves and debris. Servicing is super easy. Easy to change oil. Air filter is a pain, requires removing the bumper. The PCM is junk. There are no options missing. That’s Porsche blanks from the base Carrara.

From what I know, the blank buttons that you think is missing options actually aren't missing at all. Its just they used the same centre console in every Porsche and they could have other options such as a front lift.
Yes, a 911 is one of the best choices for a driving enthusiast, and there's very little on earth that's better than a Turbo S. A GT3 is more track focused, but for an all-arounder, the Turbo S is the way, the truth, and the light. Congratulations!
Literally, Rich, this is just about my life story. I owned a Neon, too! I can't wait (well, I have to) but I hope the last chapter of my car ownership ends with the 911 Turbo S in a blue color. I always ask Santa and anyone else I meet for a 911 Turbo S whenever they ask what I want. They think I'm joking, for some reason. One day. Oh, and I laughed at the HNIC reference because it's something my dad (also a Corvette lover) enlightened me to, because, well, he was the HNIC of our household ^_^ I love this video and look forward to where it's about my story!
I, too, had a Neon. It was this awful purple color, and my coworkers at the shop called it Barney. But at least it was a manual, and a 2-door, which was very rare. It was fun to drive, and I was able to chirp 3rd gear (somehow). When my wife picked up her grandmother who came to visit, her grandmother loved the car and insisted that it was a Porsche. My wife didn't have the heart to tell her...
Any ICE Porsche, that also is a manual, let alone air cooled, will only appreciate. Electrification is the future and coming on fast, and will make older sports cars incredibly desirable. Nice 👍

Hi Rich, great episode! The 991 Turbo S has tons of power reserves. Mere reprogramming and freeflow airfilters yield 635hp, while larger vtg turbos and exhaust will take you around 685hp. Carbon brakes are nice but if one warps (hot brakes and a puddle) they need to both be changed! If you ever visit Jackie Steward’s Green Hell, Nordschleife Nürburgring, Germany, ALL Porsches are running steel brakes. They will still pull your eyeballs out. The pinnacle for this car comes from 9ff where 1600hp are possible. Looking forward to seeing what you do!.
You are right! It is the best all around sports car that is my favorite. That was nice of you to let that kid launch your ride. I’d like to se you change out the wheels to a set of two or three piece BBS mesh wheels with the color of your choice!
Congrats man! Always love seeing a guy who grew up in a neon get a real deal car. Porsche has historically done nothing for me emotionally, but I’m also coming around. A friend got a gt3 and it’s hard to argue. I still love my m3 for hooning around and having fun…but there might be a Porsche in my future if I ever decide to be a serious person 😂
Poor uncle Rich, guessed the shipping coast for his front spoiler. I hope they do not charge him for wiping it clean when it gets out of the box. Fun Show.
Nice review. I’ve the exact same model. Even the same colour, sapphire blue. I had a 997.2 turbo before. The first thing that struck me with the 991 turbo S was the pin sharp brakes and steering. Incredible cars 😃 Enjoy!!
You're wrong. Owned two Porsches, both suffered catastrophic engine failures despite impeccable maintenance histories. Every time I brought then to the shop, I paid seven times the price for routine service. Replacement part and mechanical service costs are astronomical. Only purchase Japanese sportscars ever since. No headaches, dependable and cheap to own.
911 Turbo S has been my dream car for as long as I can remember (996) but up until a few years ago I started liking track cars, so now I think the best Sports Car ever is a GT2 RS
Just saw this for the first time. Welcome to the Porsche club, Rich! I have the Taycan now, but that's bc I wanted a DD with lots of room for the family. Very happy with it. I've also owned 911's and they were lovely too. Enjoy!
I'm surprised a salesman wasn't called in to convince him that buying a brand new Porsche would actually be cheaper than fixing everything that's wrong on his. That's usually how they get you.
Congratulations on your 911 Turbo!! 🥳🥳. I remember when I bought my 964 Turbo over 20 years in black. Bad Boys car. Wish I never sold it. I’ve still got a few Porsches: 928 s4 924 turbo 944 but no 911.
Be glad you didn’t get the K5. Ours through a rod. It could go anywhere though. My dad once backed off an incline and rolled over, called a tow truck for a tip over; the wrecker got stuck, my dad pulled free back to the main road.
That car is EVERYTHING!! I consider myself fortunate to own a Speed Yellow 997 911 Carrera with great options in a manual 6sp.. But this blue beauty is another thing. Wow. Congratulations.
Road and Track did 60 launches in a row in a test. They got tired before the car did. I think it actually picked up 2 tenths over the course of the test. (tires warmed up) Best was 2.4 I think.

The best thing about buying a Porsche is the purchase experience. I tagged along with my buddy who was shopping for a Ferrari and was treated rudely because he wasn't a veteran Ferrari owner. We head to Porsche dealer and he was treated as if he was a king. They even allowed me a test drive of the car my buddy was eyeing even if I wasn't buying the car (way out of my pay grade).

The Beatle was best sport car ever. So amazing the 911 built its platform on it.
I’ll never forget the first time I got to drive a turbo s I’ve never merged on a highway so smoothly and fast hit about a buck 30 in 6-7 secs for someone that comes from the inner city that dreams about cars like these to actually getting a chance to drive them is surreal
So, the owner left the keys in it? 🤣
@@pookysdad4884 Nope I do bodywork for a family owned dealership franchise that happens to own a Porsche store so I drive them from the shop to there and back

@@TwoDogsBigYard WOOOOOSHHHHH

That plate is epic.
What does the licence plate mean
Tim Caine. You better google that one, buddy.
The only thing you need to do with that car is give it to me. I'll splurge for the new tires.
That’s a fair request give this man the car.
You do know the tires are about $400 each, right? Front are about $350, back are $450ish?

Nice 👍
that aint a manual
@@rttrtt1374 Nor air cooled. Was just an example. Cool.
Electric cars are not the future. It won’t happen. Alt fuels will end up winning in the end. We can come back here in 20 years and see who wins.

As a Massachusetts resident, and being in several Porsche 911's (friend's cars I am a muscle car guy)...Porsche is amazing daily for our crappy streets and even snow if you want. They just do everything well. Congrats Rich
Crazy how far youve come dude. I remember the srt4 days. Went from cruising around worcester to 1.25M subs, and a legit business doing what you love. Congrats bro. BTW pretty sure I was on a flight from SD to BOS with you back in April #notcreepin

@@citizenerased1992 it's in Massachusetts. We don't pronounce our Rs so we say it "Woostah", but yeah, definitely not worCHester. You are correct on the proper pronunciation tho.

Well he shows off and says ''tell me I'm wrong''. Of course some will be triggered.

There are 72 now. Some drivers want to take their time and drive slow.

If you have an M3 you already win at life.
The srt4s still hold a solid place in my heart. My first desired car while I was around 12 years old.
The 911 is absolutely gorgeous! The factory wheels tho….are kinda ‘meh’ but the paint color is ON POINT.
What DOES that License plate actually mean?
Hockey Night in Canada. Rich is a big Bruins fan.
"...get 80% of the driving experience for less than half the price." I've often thought this very thing about my car loves vs my budget.
Congrats Rich, once you go Porsche it's hard to go back. They're such good driver cars, all across the range from the Macan to the 911.
Anecdotal experience.

it was cute that uncle Rich thought it would be a grand at Porsche to fix that.
Yeah. It was almost that much for the inspection

The best thing about buying a Porsche is the purchase experience. I tagged along with my buddy who was shopping for a Ferrari and was treated rudely because he wasn't a veteran Ferrari owner.
