2024 Jane Waite & Paul Curzon: 'Tear and share' research-to-practice activities with semantic waves

As researchers, we wish to not only have an impact in our intellectual fields but also empower practitioners, but how? The notion of ‘semantic waves’ is having spectacular success in teaching computer science in England. It has been taken up as best practice in official guidelines by OFSTED, the national inspectorate, and many English school websites now proudly proclaim they use semantic waves to teach computing science. How did this happen? In this Roundtable, we share how this impact was achieved.
We summarise how we have successfully shared insights from using LCT beyond the academy to shape computer science education in England. We discuss the barriers and opportunities we have encountered when sharing research. So, let's learn together about research-to-practice and start building on each other's experiences!
