Would you do a live stream starting a book from the start and chat with us (in chat) as you are making it. If we have questions you could answer them live. 👍🍻
You are literally my childhood go-to DIY channel. Now I'm back, grown-up, I'm happy that you are still making DIYs and probably will catch up to you and your new DIYs! I hope people my generation will remember you also like I did and thank you for making us a crafter of our own.... Now, I've been using all the things I've learned from you since I was a kid, up to now at art school.
Could you please make a video on how to add a ribbon bookmark to books with exposed binding like this? I love making Coptic stitch journals but haven’t been able to find any information on how to add a ribbon bookmark, it would help tremendously 🙏🏼
Beautiful designs for your paper collection 🤗🤗🤗. I have made several books following your tutorials…….this stitch looks to be an easier one to do and the two colour thread looks so neat. 🥰
I used to have lots of notebooks which were only filled little bit and i felt bad to keep them away but now because of you i recover all my notebooks and i have got soo good at it that i actually use them as my school notebooks! Thankyou soo much u have taught me good things and i can save as much paper as possible!💕
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this clear demonstration of the butterfly method of bookbinding. I worked with you and was finally able to complete a small book!
Those are some lovely designs! And I’m looking forward to trying this method out soon. I’m really grateful for all your tutorials - I’ve made some notebooks following them for friends and family with some little paintings here and there as a personal touch, which they’ve loved and actually used (perfect for when I was a broke student lol). I wish I were able to support you thru patreon, I definitely hope to do so once I get a job and stable income because I love your content and I’m sad you don’t get the views and support you deserve for the effort you put into your videos and how useful they are, practically speaking. I’ve tried to find other tutorials but no other channels are as clear with their instructions or as “zen” and enjoyable as yours. I usually binge your channel while I work on bookbinding projects lol
I was watching this and then realized I had this book! It was in a stack of books I bid on and won at the FOBA conference in June this year. Thanks for the heads up!

Great video, thank you. My only question was how loose does this kind of binding feel? It doesn’t look like the signatures are that tightly bound together, at least when you laid it flat, and I would want it to feel much tighter and not be able to see the stitching at all from the inside of the book. Does that make sense?

I just made your double needle Coptic stitch book... and my book looks so much like the one you created here. When I saw the thumbnail I was amazed. Of course, it is a different covering, but the color and pattern are quite similar. Your double-needle Coptic stitch tutorial is by far the best out there of any bookbinding tutorial I could find. By far! I will be making more notebooks in the future. Will try this method next. thanks!

I've just done one 💖 How do you keep all the signatures neatly aligned? OR there should be some space for asymmetry? (I mean the edges of the paper, some are more forward than the others ;; )
My signatures are that way too. The middle pages move forward when folded in half. I don't really mind it, but you can trim the book edge of you want them all to be the same :)
I am so inspired by your videos, I just placed an order with amazon for the RU Memories kit you demonstrated. Is there anywhere I should start? You have so much here.I was thinking of trying this while I am waiting for my order.

Brilliant tutorial. Say, would you mind terribly making a tutorial for this method but using a hard cover? You mention it in passing in this here but I can't understand what you mean. I did a search, but if i search for Japanese 4-needle all the results are about the Japanese four hole method instead. And if I search for Butterfly bookbinding, something else entirely different comes up. Thank you.
It can take some practice to get a feel for the right tension. If you've already bound your book and it's too loose, you can cut the threads and rebind it (I've done this many times). But also know, exposed bindings are naturally a bit loose which makes the pages open flat.

Adorable stitch!
Thanks for the tutorial! I would like to know if we can do this type of bookbinding with a hard cover as well. Is that also possible?
super cute! since you are using an iron-on adhesive, why not iron the fabric onto the book board instead of gluing?
What do you think of adding beads or charms on the threads of an exposed binding? Does it weaken the binding or make the book difficult to use?
