- If you are in the market for a new sleeping bag you have to check out the brand new Sleeping bag from Kodiak Canvas Tent. These folks thought outside of the box and came up with a new design that is both comfortable and warm. Traditional sleeping bags are comfortable but heat escapes from the opening. Mummy bags trap that heat in but leave you with no room to move. The Z-Top sleeping bag incorporates an extra panel that can zip on and off that helps lock that heat in. You kinda need to see it to understand it.
Besides the innovation of the Z-Top, this sleeping bag is very well made with locking YKK Zippers, a Cotton Canvas outer, a large pillow landing area, a big footbox, and so much more.

I know this is an older video, but I bought one of these and took it on a recent camping trip, and it's the most comfortable I've ever owned, without question. That head flap at the top seems so obvious for keeping cold air from coming in, but it's still incredible that no one thought to include it until now, and the foot box gives you a ton of room down at the bottom. Kodiak must have a patent on the design, because that's the only reason I can think of that it hasn't been copied by other companies yet.
OK OK.. That seriously might be the most innovative bag I have ever seen.. Love the glory hole.. I mean head covering you get with that bag!! Freaking dope!

I really appreciate you showing your new sleeping bag. I was trying to find something my step son would feel comfy using. He's a pretty big boy himself, about 6'2, and about a little less than 400 lbs. I'd say that this would be perfect for him. I was thinking about buying him a couple Teton sleeping bags to put inside each other but this bag with the booster quilt just might be the ticket. Thanks a lot, again...

That looks like a KILLER bag Chris! I’m sooo accustomed to cotton canvas bags with flannel lining, I know - heavy as shit - but VERY useful say at a deer camp where we drive in & setup for Week1. Using on either the concrete floor of a barn, or if you’re lucky, on a cot. Looks perfect for our use, so thank you for the review! Curious about any waterproofness? A 15lb bag yet $250 bag looks pretty damn comfy...price us a lil scary but may push past bc made USA & meets the needs.
So comfortable man, best sleeping bag I've ever used so far. It is a bit pricey but I'm thinking it will last a long time. Not sure on waterproofness.

I'm not positive but I think you could. It would make the z-top function useless on half the bag though if that matters.

But even without that, I love heavy, canvas covered sleeping bags. Hard to find nowadays. I’ll definitely check it out, as well as their other gear.

The cell phone pocket is just beautiful....all of that unnecessary radiation close by even when I have no reception! Just what we all need. Question is, how many Trojan magnums fit in that strategically placed pocket of convenience?
I bet that it's a pain in the ass when you have to get up and go piss in the middle of the night when it's zero degrees out. I guess you take the z-top with you to keep your shoulders warm, huh? It really does seem to be a good system but the price is too far out there.
Similar to my thoughts. We have bear issues around here and Id like to be able to jump oit of bed a little quicker.
However, it is very promising to see such a effective attempt to fix the drawback of the good old rectangle bag- the large drafty top opening.
If I make something like this for mine, I may attach it with snaps. Just for the sake of removability, and the night I have to make an emergency exit.
