THANK GOD the studio was smart enough to let Angela Lansbury perform the song the way she did!!
Indeed!
So true
Rock ballad sounds terrible!
SafetySpooon so true
why wouldn't they be?
As a kid, i always misheard one of the three girls that says "He's gorgeous~" into thinking she said, "SHE's gorgeous~" thinking that she was talking about Belle being gorgeous. and then the part when Gaston was going to ask Belle to marry him and had the towns folk with him, the three girls were crying. and i thought, "aaww, it's okay lady. Belle's doesn't even like him anyway." True story!
Haha i like that
I don't know about you but that made my day
LOL.
Daisy Tapia HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Fact 108: Belle was the first Disney princess to come in contact with snow. The second was Mulan.
HS Shark huh? How did belle come into contact with snow or mulan?
Lucifer Widow they mean literal snow. The white stuff that falls from the sky.
"Is Mulan a Disney Princess?" BITCH IF SHE CAN SACRIFICE HER LIFE FOR HER FATHERS AND SAVE CHINA SHE'S A GOD DAMN PRINCESS TO ME
Yah according to the princess rules, the character either had to be born royal, marry royal or preform an act of heroism
Damn straight. She earned her title... not married into royalty like so many others. That's why I love her so much.
+devilmaycry1337 Yup! 🙌🏼
She earned the title
she's a QUEEN***
bonus fact. every line in the song "beauty and the beast" has only 5 syllables
Rainey Davidson omg I just tested that and it's true.
Indeed😂 love it!🙌
I laughed so hard when I read it.
Fact #16 is inaccurate. The Beast's princely form was MISTAKENLY named Adam for a toy and a theme park feature, but the creators of the film have gone on record as stating that he does not have a name, canonically speaking.
+TheHeroesOfCRASH Also, when Belle rides back to the castle after Gaston and the villagers arrive, she calls out, "BEAST!" because he just...doesn't have a name.
+Paige Kesselman, She calls him "Beast", because he hadn't yet reverted back to his princely form.
+TheHeroesOfCRASH: The Beast doesn't have a name in the source material is what they mean, because Disney - the man, as well as the company - wanted to give all his Princes names. Even the Princes of _Snow White_ & _Cinderella_ were to have names, just as Aurora/Briar Rose's suitor is Prince Phillip. The Beast being named Prince Adam, though, was a late addition to the completed film and only used for dolls/figures of the Prince. A stand-out figure was a Ken doll dressed in the royal blue-with-gold-trim tux and black-with-gold-stripe slacks that the Beast/Prince Adam wore during dance sequences with Belle that came with a rubber head mask of the Beast covered in fake hair to simulate the Beast fur and was accompanied by a brunette Barbie-as-Belle with her hair tied up in a bun with a twisty tie (removing it would allow her hair to fall freely past her shoulders) wearing her shimmering gold ball gown (her Dorothy-like blue apron dress was an added accessory, as was the Enchanted Mirror).
+TheHeroesOfCRASH in the original book beast has no name he is refered to by beauty as my prince or my love and belle isn't called belle in fact her name is beauty and she is the daughter of a merchant and in another retelling she is the daughter to a king and a good fairy but still called beauty
ShadowFireHime Belle IS French for Beauty. "It's no wonder that her name means 'beauty', her looks have got no parallel. But behind that fair façade, I'm afraid she's rather odd. Very different from the rest of us. She's nothing like the rest of us. Yes, different from the rest of us is Belle..."
TherealRNO true but i've read the book and it clearly states beauty hense why i said beauty and not belle
ARE WE NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT WHY THIS MOVIE IS SET IN FRANCE AND LUMIERE IS THE ONLY ONE WITH A FRENCH ACCENT?!
The Steampunk Mustache well, Babette (his feather duster girlfriend) does to.
While obviously Cogsworth and Mrs.Pots where hired from England.
and jerry Orbach is anything but french
Why not 😮
Mulan IS a Disney Princess. In order to become one, candidates must:
1. Be born royal (Aurora, Pocahontas, Ariel).
2. Marry someone who is royal (Belle, Tiana).
3. Perform in a significant act of heroism (which seems to have been made specifically for Mulan
truly one of Disney's greatest animated movies
+SuperGodzilla2 Definitely one of my top ten Disney movies. :)

The line where Belle asks if the Beast could grow a beard was actually added in the 2017 Live action version :D
yeah but this video is from 2015
i wonder how that happened
Mulan is not a princess, but because of Chinese politics and ranking, she holds enough noble rank to outrank certain members of the Emperor's family.
Wow. I didn't know that. I thought she was simply a soldier who married another soldier. Which is cool in and of itself. But this is even more fascinating.
Winter Naomi Vera Yeah, it's really interesting. She was from a noble family anyway (consider that the snobby guy in blue, an envoy of the Emperor, knew her dad personally, though they weren't friends), and then won glory for herself and her family by defeating the Huns and was honored by the Emperor. Publicly.
He also offered her a job as his highest court official (replacing the snobby guy in blue). Although she turned the job itself down, technically she'd still hold the noble rank needed in order to be in that job. Add onto that, the emperor gave into her keeping the Imperial Sword and a medallion bearing the Imperial Crest, which her family gets to keep until he asks for it back.
All of these honors on top of the fact that she married a captain in the army and the son of a general (generals were usually high-ranking nobles, with great honors for themselves and their families anyway).
Which is why the very basic premise of movie II - her guarding and escorting the Emperor's daughters - works and makes sense. In order to be a princess in China, you didn't have to be the daughter of the Emperor. You could be his sisters, his nieces, even his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th cousins, because princesses had ranks among themselves. And we know from movie 2 that Mulan outranks the Emperor's lowest-ranked daughters, because she's allowed to give them orders about things beyond safety.
Wow. That's so awesome. I didn't know all that. Also, I don't think there's been a Disney Princess yet who is as awesome in real life as well as animation. Mulan is voiced by Ming Na Wen, who plays Agent May in Agents of SHIELD, and she is just as badass as her animated counter part. @^-^@
She is in the official Disney Princess line up, and therefore a Disney Princess.
Natalie Moore yeah, the point is that even though by rank she's not a princess she holds enough power to qualify, hence why Disney made her a princess.
My favorite Disney movie of all time. Interesting to find out about Belle and Ariel being inspired by the same person. They're my two favorite Disney princesses.
I'd loved to see 107 facts about the Hunchback Of Notre Dame!
Corrections:
Disney filmmaker stated that there is really no name given to the Beast. It's not Adam.
Adam probably came from the sequels.
They sent the wrong demo to Angela Lansbury. They sent the demo intended for the pop version. So at first Angela declined stating she couldnt do it. But Disney realizing they sent the wrong demo, they sent the "movie version" demo. And Angela accepted the role.
I think he doesn't have a name in original story by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. Adam is a Disney thing.
I've seen the sequel and there is no name in it either (only a bunch of timeline and other mistakes :D) but about the name, I read somewhere that the actress who plays Belle confirmed it was Adam.. :)
The animator of the beast, Glen Keane, himself, confirmed they did not give any name to the beast. It's not Adam. :)
*****
Here's a recent 2016 article from Glamour.com
The Beast’s Real Name: It's long been assumed that the Beast's real name was Adam, but Hahn reveals that it wasn't true of the 1991 version: "As filmmakers, we never named him because there was never going to be a sequel where he turns back into the Beast. A lot of the fans came up with Adam, but we didn’t name him. To us, he’s not Adam. Had we named him, we would have named him a French name because the fairy tale takes place in France. So he would have been Francois or something. But if he’s Adam to you, he can stay Adam!"
www.glamour.com/story/10-fascinating-revelations-about-beauty-and-the-beast-25-years-later
It's not Adam. In a non-Disney produced book, I think they called him Adam. The writers went on saying that it wasn't until his death scene where they realized that they didn't name him. They decided to stick with beast
I love this movie so much I could cry.
Thanks a lot for the vid, Tim!
I have you beat. I love it so much, I do cry. @^-^@
Winter Naomi Vera OMG, don't you just love it when the little bird lands in Beast's hands to eat the seeds during "Something There," and Beast smiles as bright as the August sun?! :'D (Happy tears)
And, oh my gracious, I melt every time Beast tells Cogsworth he let Belle go, "because [he] loves her."
Absolutely. That's one of my favorite scenes in the movie. How he hears her talking about how she neeeds to help her father and he looks at the rose before telling her that she needs to go to him. He cares more about her than he does about breaking the spell. :,)
I did a presentation on Beauty and the Beast for my Speaking and Listening class, because there's this new controversy that Beauty and the Beast promotes Stockholm Syndrome and abusive relationships, and I absolutely refused to let that misconception slide. I might even do a paper on why Belle is not only one of the greatest female heroes in Disney, but one of the greatest heroes period in Disney. Period. I don't think there are many that have been more in control of their circumstances for the most part than Belle. The castle gates aren't chained or barred. She is there because she gave her word that she wouldn't leave. Another one of my favorite scenes is where the Beast has just saved her. He passes out after fighting the wolves aand she turns to mount Phillipe, and you see the fear in her eyes as she does so. But then her expression changes as she realizes that the Beast saves her life. She turns around and wraps her shawl around the Beast taking him back to the castle. She is free. The monster that has imprisoned her will die, and because he saved her, she realizes that can't happen. She continues to keep her word not to protect her father, but to save the life of a former enemy. This changes the Beasts heart, and he gives her the library as a token of his gratitude. He loves her not because she's beautiful. But because she saved him when, at the time, he wasn't worth it. It's this act that changes him. This is not only the story of a love between a boy and a girl, but of forgiveness and redemption. She is willing to place herself, her life in front of an angry mob, to save not the monster, but the changed man. Her selfless love made the man she ultimately fell in love with. That's why it's not only my favorite Disney movie, but one of fy favorite movies, period. :,)
I knew it, there is something about Belle and Dorothy's appearances. That's why they look so similar.
I learned a lot, but you missed a couple good ones:
1.The original cast of Beauty and the Beast starred Susan Egan as Belle, who would later be the voice of Meg in Hercules.
2.The voice of Gaston, Richard White, played the Phantom (a character known for his physical ugliness) in Maury Yeston's musical adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera in the same year. Talk about jumping the spectrum!
Fact: 108: its not a fairy tale, the story based on the real live of Petrus Gonsavus (born in 1537), he had a rarely disease called "Hypertrichose. His whole body was hairy like a wild animal, the most thought that he was a speaking monkey. As a curiosity he came to the Royal Household of King Henry II. of France and was kept like an animal in the royal zoo, as a creature of devil. Soon the man began to talk, learned reading and writing and got more and more respect. Than an experiment was tryed: One daughter of a royal employee should marry him. The Beauty and the Beast found together. Their famous destiny confirmed the myth, that love is stronger than cruelty and ignorance.
Seastorm13 Thanks for sharing this story. Without you I would have never knew such a heartwarming and also dramatic story!! He and his wife were the real Beauty and the Beast.
Thats the fairytale based of! ;-)

so is there a theory saying that Gaston killed bambi's mother?
+BubblegumGirl366 Now it would make sense, seeing as she's in the film. There's also a scene in Bambi where a bird is shot, as Gaston does in the film. That's my theory anyway.
+BubblegumGirl366 On the next Cartoon Conspiracies.
+BubblegumGirl366 That just makes him so much more unlikable.
+BubblegumGirl366 That just makes him so much more unlikable.
+BubblegumGirl366 There is also a semi-popular theory that it was Clayton who killed her, I forget the evidence as described though.
"Disney Princess" is the title of an elite group of female characters that portray certain ethical, heroic, gentle, or good-natured qualities. It is not a group specific to characters that are princesses, which would explain why Mulan is in the group. When the group was first formed, Esmerelda and Tinkerbell were part of the lineup before Disney decided what it meant to be a "Disney Princess" and those two didn't fit the bill.
Jake Murphy princess when Walt was alive meant that they were a princess or married a prince now a days it means just what you said
"Disney Princess" didn't exist when Walt Disney was alive. There was no Disney Princess franchise back then. There were only characters in films who were princesses. The definition of a princess is exactly what you said: a woman who marries a prince. I don't know what that has to do with anything, though.
I hear the "grey stuff" at the be our guest place tastes AMAZING! I hope to try it sometime.
It is! They have a grey stuff cupcake and that's amazing, too.

I thought the book she was reading was Aladdin. That theory is around the internet somewhere
personally I think that theory is wrong. It would make more sense if the story she was reading was her own.
Vegan Olivia
People think that it’s Aladdin, but tbh it doesn’t make sense. Aladdin wasn’t a prince in disguise, he was disguised as a prince.

The line "do you think you could grow a beard" was actually recommended to Keane by Lumiere's lead animator Nik Ranieri. (That line has made it back into the live action adaptation.)
oh really
See, I thought the book Belle was reading was The Princess Bride. You know, far off places, daring sword fights, a prince (charming) in disguise who's identity is revealed later on in the book?
Dana Casillas I always thought it was her own. think about it.

Yes Mulan is a princess. If you knew the rules of becoming a Disney princess you would know the rules were altered after her movie. The rule ,Must perform an act of heroism, was added just to ensure she was indeed a princess.
Yes, Mulan is. There are criteria to become an official Disney princess, and let's see how Mulan measures up:
Mandatory:
*Human- yes
*Animated- yes
*Introduced in the first movie- yes
*Box office success- yes
* Movie receives a huge following of young girls- yes
Must meet at least one:
*Born royal- no
*Marries into royalty- no
*Performs (a) significant act(s) of heroism- literally what the movie is about

The rock ballad version of "Beauty and the Beast" released with the movie. It's sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. It's in the end credits and played on the radio :)

That "beard" line mentioned in fact #63 did make it into the live-action remake! Congratulations, Glen Keane! Your wish came true! It is, after all, what Disney does!
Oh! After so many years the line where Belle ask the beast if he could grow a beard actually made to the live action movie!
Neat-o facts! Beauty and the Beast remains my favourite Classic Disney film and Belle remains my favourite Disney princess. I wanna try the grey stuff from the movie lol
beauty and the beast as a rock ballad? am i the only one who wants to hear that
I would consider the version Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson do for the end credits to be in a rock ballad style. So that gives you a pretty good idea what they had in mind :)
no definitely not
Just went it and listened to it... Sounded WAY different in my memories :O I could have SWORN there were heavy guitars and stuff. Must be thinking of a different Disney movie :/
You're not the only one. One way to make it better: make it a goth love ballad!

Facts about the total drama series!!

#46 that standing ovation story is just unbelievable and unimaginable!
My eyes popped when he said that the beasts voice was Jackie chan's in China! I love Jackie Chan!
ONLY the CHINESE version is voiced by Jackie Chan. The Beast's voice has always been ROBBY BENSON, who is famous as the star of "Ode to Billie Joe" and "Ice Castles".
Is Bell's blue dress a homage to Julie Garland in " The Wizard of Oz "
Maybe...
Likely not, considering that "The Wizard of Oz" is NOT a Disney movie. But you never know...
The "Bimbettes" are called "silly girls" in the stage show. Much more appropriate haha
Mulan is a technical Disney princes, she performed a act of heroism, and had a love interest. While those two are not mutually exclusive to be a Disney Princess she has to have several requirements but those are two if she is not born or married into royalty, and box office plays a lot into it.
107 facts about Snow White!! please!!!
No. His name isn't Adam. That is a fan-given name, NOT canon.
Linda Liriel in a Disney made trivia game it says that his name is Adam
link pls
Linda Liriel just google it
yeah. because there isn't a plethora of Disney quizzes -.-
In the movie his name was 'The Beast' or 'The prince'. But a few years later Disney released a trivia game that said his name was Adam. In the musical, they also called him Adam. So, technically his name is Adam. But, if you are referring to the 1991 version, he is "The Beast". The creator also said that they didn't give him a name because the were too busy and forgot. That is why he was given the name Adam later on.
#53 That is entirely correct, but CAPS's main function was digitally inking and painting over pencil sketches. Literally every frame of Beauty and the Beast (and all 2D Disney movies between Rescuers Down Under and Home on the Range, inclusive) were processed using CAPS.
I'd totally go for 107 Enchanted Facts tbh.
Oh my god Glen Keane and I had the same idea. I always wished the beast stayed a beast.
Sabrina me you and Glen Keane honey
Tim sounds like Kermit the Frog.
The reason the Beast's name is never mentioned is because the production was rushed (hence the recycled scenes) the name Adam was added to the Canon later as a nod to Glen Keene's heavy studying of the Cistine Chapel in preparation for the transformation scene. there is a nod to this where the prince's limp hand briefly resembles the iconic depiction of Adam's hand awaiting the touch from God; before he awakens and stands before Belle.
Also, in the French dub Mrs Potts is Mrs Chammomile.
"Do you think you could grow a beard?" Made it to the live action Beauty and the Beast! I thought that was genius, I never knew they actually thought about it the animated! :O
13:12 that could be any deer.
Facts on Aladdin please!
That part about belle asking about the beard is now in the 2017 live action remake
I love Angela Lansbury so much!! Good for her for changing the song into perfection. :)
Mulan is not a Princess because she didn't marry a member of the royal family.
She is according to Disney.
She isn't technically a princess but she is popular enough that Disney made her into a princess.
Thanks for the explanation :3
Will N pretty sure money made is also part of it
They are SO gonna ruin beauty and the beast in the live adaption
How and why ?
Ana Alanis nothing can beat the animation, it's too good
+Phoebe Hubbard RIGHT
true true
Of course at least they pushed it back to 2017 as November this yr beauty and the beast is 25 yrs old
THAT JACKIE CHAN/BEAST THING HAS ME DYING OF LAUGHTER OMG
#108: The animator, Glen Keane, was not only the lead animator on Tarzan, but is the son of BILL Keane, creator of "The Family Circus" (Bill drew an homage to this in one of his panels)
107 facts about Ed,Edd n Eddy pls
107 facts of Peter Pan!!
11:36 that line was added in the live action film
One of my favorite Disney films of all time. I am looking forward to the live action release as well. Also, I am too a fan of Adam being a beastly prince I do hope they retcon that someday.
