WOW! Incredible. This is phenomenal. I love the older Campagnolo Record groupset that was installed. The original purple with white panels wasn't a bad design ether. This is now a stunning museum or bike shop display piece. Great work. I used to have a lugged steel Bianchi and Centurion back in the 90's. This makes me very nostalgic, as I remember the ride quality. Thank you.
What a great transformation - You were already onto a winner with the Colnago SLX but that original paint colour was horrible - I had my doubts about the pink and white, but it came out looking fantastic. It suits a bike of that vintage - Well done on the stripes and the way the chrome sticker finishes just at the chainset is spot on. The owner has chosen a great groupset and wheels to go with the frame. I hope he gets many miles of enjoyment out of it.
Many thanks Stuart. I had the same reservation in the beginning and actually tried to convince Gerhard to go for a single colour but he had his mind set on the pink and white and he was right, it was the perfect choice 👍🏼
Buff, Very nice full Italian build. Beautiful craftsmanship on your skills. I own a Colnago Conical SLX Columbus tubing Bicycle. Full Campagnolo Record 1993, Campagnolo Omega Hardox Aero rims laced with Tie Dye Colored DT Swiss Titanium spokes. I worked as a mechanic at a bicycle shop here in Rochester Hills Michigan so I did get a discount on the group set when I assembled the bicycle. This was completed in 93’ and still looks amazing today.
Lovely Restauration! I have a Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra ('89 Team Stuttgart) also with SLX Tubing, i rebuild it in 2020 with a 11-Speed 105 R7000 Groupset, Deda Zero 100 Ahead Stem, Mavic Open Pros and 105 Hubs. I already rode over 5000km with it and can say it is by far the best riding bike that i had in my life and everybody is impressed how nice it looks.
Thanks Jeff 🙏🏼👍🏼 I feel for you guys stuck in the middle of winter, it makes me appreciate the few months of sunshine we still have left here before it’s our turn again 😣
Great job Brett. I have an old Peugeot Le Mans in my garage that I received as a donation from my father in law during the pandemic. It’s rideable, but could do with some additional restoration over and above what I have done to get it rideable. I’ve kinda lost interest in cycling (doing more hiking on Table Mountain these days), but I just can’t get myself to sell it on, as as a 47 year old guy, it reminds me SO much of my childhood dream to own one!
Absolutely beautiful work brother! I am restoring a '81 Marinoni special full campagnolo equipped and your videos are helping me so much, thank you thank you and please don't change a thing in your filming it is perfect the way it is!!! Syl from Montreal, Canada. 👍👍😎
Thank you, it’s feedback like yours that makes the long hours of editing worthwhile. 🙏🏼 I’m really pleased to hear you are gaining benefit from my videos and all the best with your Marinoni restoration. They are beautiful bikes and seldom seen here in South Africa 🇿🇦
Your best restoration yet, stunning. Like your final remarks of get your old bike out and give it some love 👍 I had a 1988 Columbus SL frame in my roof storage doing nothing for 10 years til I got it out and dressed it up with 10 speed Centaur in 2003. Original components were suntour superbe which I wish I kept….sadly long gone, but what a beautiful ride today.
Thanks Matt, I appreciate the kind words 🙏🏼 Glad to hear you resurrected that SL frame, they give a really great ride, especially with a modern groupset 👍🏼 Keep riding 🚲
Thank you. Sadly the shipping costs of bicycles out of South Africa don’t make it worthwhile for overseas buyers unless the bike is truly a collectible.
another stunner. the work you, onroad bikes and Andy do is simply breathtaking. long may you all continue, and maybe a long-distance collaboration one day?!?!?
Wow…nicely done Brett…great bike and a well deserved PROFESSIONAL restoration! You sir are an inspiration. Once the weather heats up here in Calgary I plan to do a full resto on my recently purchased Giame SL frame. As others have stated…your videos are very helpful to others looking to attempt a resto. Keep up the great work! Now I wish I knew how to make my own decals etc..sadly it is beyond my current capabilities. Take care. Trevor
Thanks for the kind words Trevor, much appreciated 👍🏼 It’s always rewarding hearing that my videos help and inspire others with their restorations as that is one of the primary reasons for me persisting with this channel. Good luck with your Giame, it sounds like an interesting project 👍🏼
Just lovely 👌 This past year I have had the cracked chainstays on my Colnago Master Olympic frame replaced and the frame resprayed in classic Saronni Red. Oh, and the Precisa forks re-chromed. Looks amazing 👌
Another truly inspiring video and superb result. You mentioned the spray gun, but I couldn't quite catch the details. Could you pleas tell me which setup you use.
You did a great job on this bike, the end result looks fantastic. Just love these classic pieces. There is a 1987 Peugeot Rapport of mine still hanging around in my parent's garage, years and years of dust on it, a nice barn find. I last rode it in 1991 I think. Think I am going to get it and do a sympathetic restoration on it! Just need to make space for it first, my garage is bursting at the seams.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I did a resto on a Peugeot Rapport as well, the video is on my channel if you haven’t yet watched it. They were great starter bikes and very popular in SA 👍🏼
very nice thanks. i bought black spray can 2K epoxy primer for my steel frame, thinking it would be my first layer. i'd guess using 1K etching spray primer under that wouldn't be a good idea, but here i see you doing that. is it so that my non-etching epoxy primer (suitable also for bare steel) is not good enough for rustproofing ? thanks..
Great work. Any reason you youse stickers instead of painting the logos? I notice that you use very little material when you spray the magenta color. What settings and gun do you run?
Thank you. Most of my bikes are restoration projects so I try and match how the bike was done originally. Very few old bikes had airbrushed logos as it wasn’t cost effective to spend the time painting the finer details. I’m using an Aircraft touch up gun for the magenta with a 0.5 needle/nozzle combo.
I guess that’s debatable, depends which side of the fence you sit on. The traditional wheelset has become very collectible and they’re getting hard to find in good condition.
Incredible work Buff. The skill and level of craftsmanship you display is off the charts. This isn't just bike restoration - it's art!
You flatter me Ciarán, thank you for the compliments, much appreciated and glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼👍🏼
Wow, incredible work! I'm always amazed by how gorgeous these bikes look when you're done with them
Thank you very much!

Thank you 👍🏼 I was a little worried about the pink/purple initially but I love how it turned out.
Fantastic work mate! The attention to detail certainly shows through! Those Shamals really set it off👌
Thanks Patrick and I have to agree, those Shamals are the icing on the cake 🍰 😊👍🏼
That's a great save for this frame super job should be proud getting better each job.....
Thanks Noel, it’s a steep learning curve but I’m enjoying the process 👍🏼

Sounds great, I love steel bikes that have been neo-retro’d, it’s the best of both worlds and that EM Corsa Extra is a super frameset 👌🏼👍🏼
Simply incredible. Makes me want to get the biking season started. Greetings from snowy Ottawa Canada!

Nailed it Brett, cracking job mate.

Brett, your tallent and passion shows in your work🙌
Thanks bud, you had the vision 👍🏼
Well, you did it, bro! Absolutely gorgeous, perfect paint. And Shamal fits the description color perfectly. Congratulation.
Thanks my friend, it gave me a few extra grey hairs but finally turned out well 😊👍🏼

Wow, that looks beautiful. You should put those bikes up for sale. I would buy one for sure.
Thank you. Sadly the shipping costs of bicycles out of South Africa don’t make it worthwhile for overseas buyers unless the bike is truly a collectible.
Another great project. Well done!
Thanks, glad you liked it!

Thank you 🙏🏼 That’s been a thought of mine as well, maybe we can make it happen some time 👍🏼
Thank you friend. Unfortunately, we have it a little further together.
Very nice Buff. Always top shelf stuff from you.
Thanks Wynand 👍🏼
Very nice!! Love your videos and you do beautiful work. Thank you

Amazing restoration, I have an identical bike in excellent original condition and it is a pleasure to own and ride.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼 You’re fortunate to have such a gem, I hope I manage to find one in my size sometime in the future 👌🏼
Looking forward to it, Buff. You do outstanding work!

@@BuffsVintageBikes Thanks - I love it - my dream bike 🤩

Thank you John, appreciate the kind words 👍🏼
Excellent and inspiring as always. Nice group set too!

@@BuffsVintageBikes Yes, I already watched that video(s) and several others as well. Enjoying the the content very much.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! ; )

You can an epoxy primer directly onto bare metal as well. An etch primer just works better for steel that had previous rust issues 👍🏼

WOW! I'm gobsmacked. That is another sterling job done. 👏 👏👏😍😍
Nice!!
The modern shamal wheelset looks much nicer than the traditional 36 spokes wheelset

Bicycle porn at its best. Well done mate that looks fantstic. 😊
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the finished result 🙏🏼👍🏼
Super job
