Miss Estruch I found your channel through a quick TH-cam search for a specific topic I will definitely be sharing with my friends also I’m a year 12 student and recently we’ve started year 13 content for aqa starting with photosynthesis so maybe some more year 13 based content would be good as I’m a little worried about learning the new content by myself I know year 13 content is a little on the heavy side 😬 especially because we don’t have the textbooks either to have something to refer to
when trying to learn. thank you for asking x

hi miss thanks for the video, i just wanted to ask if you could please clarify the species definition in many textbooks, where it says "a species is a group of organisms that can interbreed and produce fertile offspring" - doesn't interbreeding mean organisms from different species breeding together and doesn't that then produce infertile offspring? it doesn't make any sense
i thought inbreed was the correct term to use for breeding within the same species

inbreed is breeding within the same family. Interbreeding is between the difference races of species.
I know what you are saying, I don't like the use of 'interbreed' as that often means between different species. I phrase it as 'when individuals breed to create fertile offspring' instead.

It may be good use for some students if you would walk through some practice questions going through each topic and talking us through how to answer them and where the marks are given. 🤷🏽♂️

Why have you done the calculation upside down?
At which point? The formula given here is the one stated in the AQA specification
@@MissEstruchBiology In class we are given D= 1 - (sigma n(n-1) / N(N-1))
Formula is upside down? Index of diversity should be an answer between 0 and 1. this example the answer should be 180/600 = 0.3! Not 3.3
Not for Simpsons index of diversity, there are different formula out there, but this is what AQA state
