  • Clancy I. from California shares his experience, strength, and hope!
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there! :)
From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope."

I sobered up in March, 1977 and during the next 4 years was heavily and joyously involved in Southern California Service Work. My first AA job was washing real heavy coffee mugs at my Bell Gardens home group. I bonded with Bill my first Sponsor at my first meeting. and worked my first 12 steps, before moving to Garden Grove, where I had two home groups, and met my 2nd Sponsor Eddie, a Man I grew to Love like the father I never had. If there was an AA job no one wanted to do, I raised my hand and volunteered. Bill had told me being of service to AA and my fellow men and women was how I could say Thank You for the gift of Sobriety. From GSR at 3 months to DCM at 7 months and serving in my various home positions, all of them and higher Area jobs, I learned about AA, and why it needed faithful servants. I also got to know Chuck C,
Paul O, and heard about Clancy I. One thing is do not ask him to be your sponsor, as you will spend Saturdays at his house, doing chores like cutting his grass, Washing and waxing his car, washing his house windows and get fed also, etc.
It took me a couple of years of being around that area and also hearing him speak, before I realized I had met Clancy at the Midnite Mission, in about June 1966, when My Street pal Bill and I knocked on those metal doors, asking about a bed and a meal, only to hear that growls voice of his say" You guys haven't suffered enough," and slammed the door in our face. It was my privilege to get to know and call him my friend, during those 4 years in Cal. and at various sites he spoke at country wide. We always hugged at those instances.
He had 62 years in Earthly AA, and I am sure he speaks often at the Big Sky Meeting

I am an alcoholic. I am not drunk now and I am like that, thank God since 31st. January 1975. I do not comprehend the notion OF HOW SEVERE IS YOUR DISEASE!!!! If I take THE FIRST DRINK today, I set myself on the tortuous path to my insanity and death!!! The disease of Alcoholism does not admit of degrees of severity. This is kust my opinion. Thanks drockclapton for you sharing!

Me personally: I am an alcoholic, that said, I view the 12 steps as a ladder. It's a matter of how severe is your disease. Some people reach stage 3 and are good. then there are those who reach stage 12 and still struggle. I think I'm at about a 6. Trying hard to quit. bout to break out the big book.
