Oh my goodness! I’m so excited 🎉 I just thought I’d have a lazy morning and catch up on some youtube and next minute, those are my socks on screen! Thank you so much for such a wonderful prize and for the joy of having to explain to my bewildered family that I won a competition for cheating :D 😂😅
Dear Ali, When you mention another podcast, and it sounds interesting, I immediately pause your video and bop over there to check it out… (I’ll forget if I don’t do it right away.) Sometimes I’ll discover one to subscribe to but, really, there’s always a sense of relief, coming back to you. I’ve watched both your vlogs (so many, so long) that it feels like “coming home.” A comfort in an increasingly scary world. 🌻🧶🥰
OMG! I can't believe I won something! How exciting and thank you so much to the donor of the Pumpkin Patch yarn! What a delicious colourway! ❤🎃 Thank you for the Sockalong! I'll be in touch. Congratulations to all the winners!
Fun, fun...loved all. I crochet a lot but lately doing more knitting. I crochet and knit some hats, not fancy for homeless. I tried a sock project several years ago but I couldn't get pass the heel....still somewhere. Love the yarn colors. Thank you for the cheers and smiles.
YES!!! The Virus is finally on the hook. I'm actually making another one right now but the yarn is so thin it's driving me mad. Once I get going, I just refer to the previous repeat to keep on track.
Confession time! I am a crocheter. 😊 I haven't made the virus shawl yet, either! 😮 And I make at least one shawl every month! ❤ I'm not sure why. Maybe that'll go on my 2024 list 🤔
Another enjoyable episode. I love the giraffe legs lol. Looks like it will be huge when it’s finished, I’m sure Pheobe will love it. I’m just trying to learn to crochet. I’ve been able to do one stitch for quite a while so I’ve managed a couple of blankets but I’m now learning to figure out written patterns.
Waited to watch till Sunday evening, thought I would quick step through the foot of a sock now just have the toe to finish. Good to see you looking better.😄🧶💃
Hi Ali! Love your excitement about Strictly! I am working on two different pairs of socks (one is a gift!). I have made two virus shawls and have yarn to make another. I have to tell you @ the spinning I kind of have the same problem....I have a spinning wheel and drop spindles. I typically only bring the wheel out after the holidays. I spin several braids and then set it aside. It is how things go! 😊💚
I have yet to make a virus shawl. It is on my list, I have the yarn - just need to start it. If the repeats are easy, I may take it with me as a project to work on whilst I'm on my cruise. I had thougth about making one when the Lock Down/Shelter-in-Place started in March of 2020. I thought it would be my cheeky little nod to the horrible virus. 😉😉 Glad you are feeling better. I am just now working on the border of my advent blanket. Two other ladies and I swap our yarn scraps and notions with each other. We each send 12 to the other two, so we have 24 advent gifts to open. I put all of mine into a blanket using the Just Feel Cozy Wrap, by Caliesha Ryan (I just made it a bit wider) with all my yarns from the last two years, the blanket is taller that I am (5ft 3 in).
So pleased to hear that you’re feeling better. You may even be able to celebrate with a little glass of Prosecco at the weekend 😉 I’m not far along on my Christmas cardigan either (I’m doing the christmashappyness by Iris Hlin Voggsdottir). I’ve made it more difficult for myself because I couldn’t bare the thought of knitting in the round and steeking 😱 so I’m adapting the pattern. I consoled myself by thinking it’d be fun to knit a Christmas project throughout the season and then have it ready for next year 😄🎄 However, I may have a completed pair of Strictly socks soon 🎉 Thank you for another great podcast 🥇
Thanks for keeping me company while I crochet up some Christmas gifts. I think I have to join the sockalong next year just for the comments. Take care and feel better soon.
You are so much younger looking in past years. You have reversed the aging process! How did you do that? I need to know your secret, lol! How is your mum and hubby. I'm sure it's wonderful to be out and in the open, and not be able to visit loved ones for fear of the dreaded Covid! Love your crocheted socks. I need to try some myself. Take care. Hope to see you again soon.❤❤❤
I’ve gone red now - mentioning my name and husband will keep reminding me he’s “lovely” ❤ Thank you. That yarn for the shawl is lovely as I made one as well. Been going through a very dark time for the past few weeks so you cheered me up. So pleased you’re getting more sponsorship for your channel. I agree - amigurumi arms and legs are very fiddly but so worth it for the completed little critter. Lesley x
Love your crochet socks! Thankyou for all your vlogs and sharing. I am watching from Diane Buswells hometown here in Bunbury Western Australia. She was in my daughters class at school and always winning dance competitions 😊
I'm sorry to hear that you have been feeling poorly - and that I have missed out on most of Vlogtober. It was a wild month over here but I hope things quiet down and I am very much looking forward to Vlogmas! I am actually sitting here, listening to you and fighting some very fiddly "Pinguin feet". My sister in law asked for an Amigurumi for Christmas and I couldn't say no - but Grrrrrrrr. 😅Hope you're feeling well soon- Cheers from rainy Cologne! N.
I've made, I believe 3, virus shawls. I think I followed Fiber Spider. He has lots of tutorials and is very detailed. Good luck in all your making. Even though you've probably checked it out by now.
Hi Ali, I have emailed you at little drops with some help with your Virus Shawl dilemma. I recently finished on using Scheepjes Licorice Yum Yum and I wore it all through the winter, I love mine and have plans to make some more shawls with some of my other Scheepjes cakes. I love your socks and I'm inspired to finally cast on the Drippity Drop socks, bought them when they came out and haven't gotten around to them yet. I'm so glad you're feeling much better and I hope that continues to improve. Wishing you all the best xx Chickie from Oz
Ooo thanks Chickie! I am so behind with my emails so will get on top of that this morning :) I also just received a parcel from you! I am about to open it up! 🤗😃 I shall email you 💌 xx
Lovely seeing all your wonderful sock projects. I must admit I have tried the virus in blanket form so that I could help teach it at my local yarn store, and it's not a pattern for me. Its never interested me if I'm honest but I love the scheepjes whirl you are using for it x
Really enjoyed the clog today. I have made a virus shawl and really enjoyed it. The only problem was I have ended up with the light colour near my face which was not my intention. Have just cast on a ranunculus and following tips by Sun Dragon. Hopefully it will turn out ok ❤
Hi Ali, another great podcast thank you. Loved everything you showed. I’m not sure if it will help but I know Bella Coco has done a you tube tutorial for the virus shawl a few years ago so not sure if that will be of any help to start it off and for the pattern repeat. It does look a lovely shawl to make. Great to hear you are feeling better and the antibiotics are finishing (I secretly know why your happy about it really and it’s not because they made you feel unwell… it was really because you couldn’t have your glass of wine wasn’t it 🥂🍾🤫ssshhhh I won’t tell if you don’t )😂😂 really looking forward to vlogmas with you all. Take care all of you and stay well. Xxxx
Can I just say your jumper looks so gorgeous on you! I hope you do lengthen it because you should wear it everyday! Gorgeous! Glad you're feeling better as well! ❤
Hi Ali!!! Your video cheered me up no end 😊 It's been a blah Monday for me today and a glass of wine, sock knitting and you has been just the ticket❣️ Your Nano will be there when you are ready to dive in. There's no pressure 🤓 I hope you're done your antibiotics and can enjoy a glass of wine again 🥂 Cheers...Nancy
You looks lovely in your yellow Ranucculas. When you pick up sts for the gusset in socks, do twist the st as you knit it. This will give a nice tight stitch. Great prizes by the way ❤❤❤
I did the virus shawl and found it to be a giant pain in the .... you get the idea. I wouldn't ever make one again as there are many shawls out there every bit as pretty or more so that are much more user friendly!
OMG! You’ve made mince pies possible for me! There is no place for raisins (imho) in a sweet. But, to scrape out the chunky bits and just eat the pastry is genius! :-). I am constantly amazed by our mutual quirkiness :-D. Delights me to no end, Ali!
The only place raisins are acceptable is in malt loaf 😂 And sultanas too! I have made my own mince pies before but pureed the mince pie filling you buy in jars 😂
Joanna Martinez on TH-cam has a great video. I firstly made her 2 point virus poncho so might be worth checking out that video for tips too. As I said I made the 2 point virus poncho and I've made several virus shawls. Made 2 with gradient cakes and they went to a craft sale and raffle and my other is a lovely sparkly teal.
Hi Ally, glad you feel better. You can't go wrong with Fiber Spider. His tutorials are amazing, very clear. I made virus (few if them+few others) shawl following his tutorial. Want to thank you for mince pie recipe, yummy 🙂👍🌟
Hi Ali I love your podcasts. Much love xxx ps Ive just finished the West Lynne Beanie by West Lynne Wool, designed by Mandy Moore. I wish i could send you a photo if it, it looks lovely xxx
That was fun ,,,Ali,,,!!! Congrats to the winners of the lovely prizes,, and saw💜my friend ,Sandi,,,,grinch socks you mentioned,,,!!! Such a fun knit along,,I love the groups,,, Look forward to you and Sherrie,,blanket along,,,Coming,,, Love the socks,,,!!you have on the go,,,and have never done a virus shawl,,,,!!!Looks interesting,,, Thanks Ali, Elaine🍁🏡🏡
Congrats to all of the winners!!! And thanks for showing my socks. It was so fun seeing them on the screen! I’m very excited for the blanket along. I was hoping to start a memories blanket in the New Year.
I’m also a crocheter that hasn’t yet made a virus shawl. I’ve had the yarn for it for quite some time, but haven’t done it. I love your crochet socks, and you made them sound so enjoyable! They’re going on my list.
I really did enjoy making them once I had the swing right. I had to start again a couple of times but that didn't feel like too much of a chore as they work up so quickly! 😃
Thoroughly recommend the Fiber Spider tutorial - he makes everything so clear and guides you through the repeat. I had no trouble getting the pattern to 'stick' and my virus shawl came out perfectly. Not even a tiny frog! lol
Hi Ali . Your beautiful shawl/ blanket reminds me of 2020 when you and your little family kept me company every day . Can’t wait to see finished giraffe 🦒.
I struggled with the virus pattern at first too. Fiber Spider is a great teacher though so I'm sure he will help you work it out. I use Whirls a lot and noticed that my tulip etimo hooks work best for the splitting. I also use 3.5mm. I'm so glad you're feeling better and I love your crochet socks!
How lovely to see you and hear all about the Strictly socks! As soon as Christmas is over, I am going to learn to knit socks. I have yarn, pattern and dpns. Wish me luck!
Good luck Anne! Don't forget to check out people like Earth Tones Girl and Very Pink Knits here on TH-cam - they have fantastic sock tutorials! Enjoy your sock knitting journey 🧦🤗
Lovely vlog. Yes! Follow Fiber Spider for making the V Shawl. I’ve made 2 and actually working on V meets Granny! Using Lion brand, Ferris Wheel (I’ve 3 balls), color is Wild Violets. The giraffe for Phoebe is going to be amazing. Thanks for an enjoyable vlog I watched whilst crocheting on my shawl ❤️ Take care of yourselves
It was again a nice vlog and i have enjoyed it thank you 🙏🏻 It is sad you don’t live in my neighborhood so that i can say trow a few bols of yarn 🧶 behind my door so i can crochet for you the legs and arms of the giraffe 🦒 i would like to do it for you if i can do that then.😘 I am a person that helps people if i can 😃 I am already seeing out for the Christmas countdown vlogs and i am looking forward and dreaming that i am sitting warm at home with a nice cup of tea and watching the vlogs.😊 Greetings ❤
Hi Ali, I've really enjoyed watching your podcasts 😊 you're so jolly and make me smile, you did inspire me to make the Drippity Drop socks by Kay Jones, used WYS signature 4ply colourway Robin , then watching just now downloaded the Swiss Dot Socks by Nancy Wheeler so yes you've definitely inspired me 😂 take care xx
Your Rundle Socks are so pretty! I love crochet socks. Oh wow all the socks in the sock-a-long is so lovely! Thanks so much for sharing the sock parade ❤ I made the Rundle socks and Virus Shawl (twice). They were all lots of fun. What wonderful prizes!! Congratulations to all the winners!
Hello -l ve done 4 or 5 viral shawls and l think its one of the nicest and popular shawls to do.. and its a great gift for someone you think deserve something special.. and after a while you will remember the pattern by heart ..so good luck . Gretings from sveden ..
I did make the virus shawl using a Whirl in Jade Jimjam colourway in June-July 2020. I thought it was an appropriate project for the time and I do love it. Tempted to make another one - Fiber Spider is a great teacher. I'm sure you will find his tutorial very clear. He made another shawl called the "virus meets granny" which is quite pretty despite the slightly macabre name - maybe it's just me finding it macabre, I don't know, but it made me think of all the elderly people who suffered during the pandemic. I love your crocheted socks - i might try those sometime after all the Christmas gifts are done.
Hello! Glad to see you again! I made a few virus shawls, really addictive, I also made a virus blanket, I followed a tutorial by Jonna Martinez and Bella Coco. Good luck with it. Don’t worry about the christmas jumper, it will be finished some day. Take care, see you next time, love from Belgium, Lieve
So glad to see you looking better. Another great vlog. Have made 4 or 5 Virus shawls, printed the Chart and found that so much easier to follow. Thank you for the pattern recommends 😊 Am going to try a crochet pair, agree with you, it makes me happy crocheting
I’m working on a scarf. Am looking forward to vlogmas ❤ and really, really excited about the Jan blanket event. I’m so glad that you are feeling better!
I started a virus shawl im nearly done but cant remember what row im on 😂 i must take the bull by the horn and finish it i followed the bella coco tutourial x
Hi, Ali ! You wanted to know what I'm working on. I've crocheted 2 hats for me, a hat for a little guy who turned 1 Nov. 10, a baby blanket for a cousin's daughter's 3rd baby. I've got a good start ona rectangular shawl....but need more yarn.....so tonight I started a pair of crocheted slippers in a bulky yarn.....if they turn out nice, they might end up being a birthday present for a long-time friend whose birthday is Nov 20.
Ali, I've held off crocheting socks because I'm afraid they will be uncomfortable to walk on given they have got to be more textured than knit socks. Have you found that to be the case?
I haven't but I like the feel of chunkier feeling socks. My thicker ones that I wear with wellies are very comfy and warm, I shall road test these crochet ones in my every day boots very soon 🤗
Hi Ali. Thanks for the podcast. I am knitting the Sarah Hatton Starbeck jumper at the moment. I really love your scrappy blanket. Do you have a pattern for it? If not, what stitch did you use? Thanks. x
I shall look that one up! The triangle blanket is the Triangle Granny Wrap by Annaboo’s House - I just used 4ply yarn and added each mini as I went 😃annabooshouse.blogspot.com/2016/11/granny-wrap-stylecraft-blog-tour.html
Hi Ali. Do you know how many grams of yarn you used in your scrappy Granny Advent Wrap? I have some fabulous Autumn shade minis but would need to supplement them with more yarn so I’d like an idea of how much I need to gather together.
Hi! I weighed it and it’s 610g of fingering weight yarn 😃 I don’t think I’ve ever weighed it before so that’s really handy for me to know too, thanks for asking! 💗
Such an enjoyable vlog and I love your idea for the giraffe markings. I love your crochet socks and I’m going to buy the pattern. I have made a virus shawl using a ball of Scheepjes cotton yarn. I followed a tutorial by “Ophelia Talks” on TH-cam and her tutorial is called “how to crochet the virus shawl”. I found it very easy to follow and would thoroughly recommend you have a look at her channel. 😊
Dear Ali,
When you mention another podcast, and it sounds interesting, I immediately pause your video and bop over there to check it out… (I’ll forget if I don’t do it right away.)
Sometimes I’ll discover one to subscribe to but, really, there’s always a sense of relief, coming back to you.
I’ve watched both your vlogs (so many, so long) that it feels like “coming home.”
A comfort in an increasingly scary world. 🌻🧶🥰
What a lovely thing to say, thank you so much 😊 I’m so happy you get that feeling here ❤️
OMG! I can't believe I won something! How exciting and thank you so much to the donor of the Pumpkin Patch yarn! What a delicious colourway! ❤🎃 Thank you for the Sockalong! I'll be in touch. Congratulations to all the winners!
Yay Leanna! So glad you saw the video! I will get it sent out this week 🤗
I am so glad that my friend Leanna won! Yahoo!
You look beautiful in your yellow rununculus❤ love your hair too😊glad you’re feeling better than in October🙏
What a lovely idea and a gorgeous pattern for those minis! 😃
So pleased to hear that you’re feeling better. You may even be able to celebrate with a little glass of Prosecco at the weekend 😉 I’m not far along on my Christmas cardigan either (I’m doing the christmashappyness by Iris Hlin Voggsdottir). fiber spider is great. Clear, concise, I can follow him.
Thanks for keeping me company while I crochet up some Christmas gifts. I think I have to join the sockalong next year just for the comments.
Take care and feel better soon.
Hello Ally, i haven't watched any ọf my podcasts and was surprised to see your new hairstyle without bangs. i love it and your hair color. take care
Lesley x
Imptessive multiple socks on the go. I would probably confuse myself 😂
I haven't made a virus shawl so you're not the only one! No plans to, either. Never say never, though.
Well Ali that was certainly a box of sweetie all sorts Thankyou 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thinking I was the only slow maker, I always really enjoy all your videos. Thank you!
Love your crochet socks! Thankyou for all your vlogs and sharing. I am watching from Diane Buswells hometown here in Bunbury Western Australia. She was in my daughters class at school and always winning dance competitions 😊
Brilliant!! You have the perfect excuse to knit on your Strictly socks whenever you want! ⭐️
You're just what the doctor ordered for me this morning, thank you. Hugs from Michigan, US

Your Nano will be there when you are ready to dive in. There's no pressure 🤓
I hope you're done your antibiotics and can enjoy a glass of wine again 🥂
Cheers...Nancy
Hello Ali, I think Jonna Martinez has a tutorial for a Virus Shawl. She is very easy to follow in her tutorials. 😉 Erica x
I have crocheted a virus shawl, but I did make a virus baby banket.
I had started a virus shawl about 8 years ago. It was very confusing. Maybe now is the time to try again as there are more videos out on it now.
You looks lovely in your yellow Ranucculas.
When you pick up sts for the gusset in socks, do twist the st as you knit it. This will give a nice tight stitch. Great prizes by the way ❤❤❤

OMG! You’ve made mince pies possible for me! There is no place for raisins (imho) in a sweet. But, to scrape out the chunky bits and just eat the pastry is genius! :-). I am constantly amazed by our mutual quirkiness :-D. Delights me to no end, Ali!

Hi Ally, glad you feel better. You can't go wrong with Fiber Spider. His tutorials are amazing, very clear. I made virus (few if them+few others) shawl following his tutorial. Want to thank you for mince pie recipe, yummy 🙂👍🌟

I am already seeing out for the Christmas countdown vlogs and i am looking forward and dreaming that i am sitting warm at home with a nice cup of tea and watching the vlogs.😊
Greetings ❤
It would be lovely if we all lived on one long knitting street! With maybe a yarn shop at one end, and a cafe/bookshop at the other 😁xx
Love seeing your makes, looking forward to Vlogmas. So glad you are feeling better.
Inspiring Video!
Thanks Marquita!I am looking forward to testing the socks out this week!
Thank you for this! Although now that pattern name DOES seem a bit worrying 🫣 Good luck with all the xmas gifts! xx
Lovely video Ali. So glad to see you looking so well.
I made 2 virus shawls. Fiber Spider tutorial is very good and clear. Greetings from Italy

Yay!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lol that thumbnail and episode title..too funny
Always inspiring thank you 😊
Wow you have been busy Pat! So lovely to be making things for others as gifts 💕 xx
@@LittleDropsofWonderful Thanks, Ali.
@@LittleDropsofWonderful Thank you for the info. I now get to say those lovely words “I need more yarn”. 😃
Thanks so much for this Penny! I will definitely have a look at that channel too! x
