I'm a 75-year-old lady and believe it or not, I just discovered Bill Hader 2 weeks ago. Let's face it, I'm not exactly his target audience demographic, so it's not surprising that I would not know him like my daughter (who's Bill's age) does. But I was so charmed by a video including Bill that fell into my lap that I've been binge watching every YT video I can find with Bill in it. His impressions/comedy are so impressive and he's become my go-to when I'm having a tough day. Wow, what an incredibly gifted talent!
Hader's impressions are so uncanny -- he just becomes the person, and he switches them on and off so effortlessly. And his laughter is always adorably contagious.
He puts in the work to get the little nuances that really sell a good impression, like he doesn't just say "Deh's a bamb in derr," at the end his "there" sounds more like "deauUhhre," like 4-5 extra sounds to trail it, I would never think to do that
Couldn’t agree more and I’m usually harsh on impressions but his are spot on. You’d wonder where he produces the voices from despite the obvious. 😅 Such a nice guy too, so humble yet so talented!

Try using a calculator, lots of us find him boring. I'm one of many people who used to watch him on SNL but now feels like 'I would swear he was funny at one time, but maybe I'm wrong about that'. Some people are in love with him but there's no need to mistake that for him being universally beloved. He's like a funny high school kid... like, ok, that's nice, you won the hometown talent show in 2005. Funny little self-conscious faces and voices, good for you. SNL is very good at making the audience confused as to whether they think somebody is actually funny or just so cute that you'll watch them brush their teeth and laugh about it.
I wanted to see if anyone commented on the many “Buddy”s. Kind of an odd thing to call Dave but he probably didn’t feel comfortable calling him Dave or Mr. Letterman
Easily one of the funniest guys in the business. He's got such a dorky, lovable quality about him, too. He deserves every bit of success for his skills.
Exactly! I love how goofy he is here. I was part of a small group in high school that referred to itself as the "Nerd Herd". I could have seen him being a part of our group.
Yes, definitely the Golden Age of Late Night TV, from Letterman in the '80's Conan in the '90's all through the middle part of the last decade (plus Craig Ferguson and others) up till they all left in the middle of the last decade. Since late night TV went infantile, I don't even know anyone who watches any of these shows. I don't even know what demographic these shows even play to.
You are right. Also I have not heard that "mark my words" phrase in a long time except when I say a variation of it often. My dad always said "write it down in you're daybook" he had a ton of those.
Comedians are known to be some of the best talk show guests. They have gags and anecdotes for almost any topic and if not they’re usually good at ad-libbing due to their quick wittedness. Plus unlike some actors/musicians/writers they rarely take themselves too seriously so can laugh at themselves which makes the host look good.
As no one in particular, I was around Tom off and on for a couple years back around the time that he was forming, and then had just formed, Cruise/Wagner. I can assure you Tom is literally like this with everyone. If he runs into the janitor in the basement, he is amazed and walks away knowing the guys name, and having found out something about him. If people are light bulbs, the dude was somehow constantly a 400 watt light bulb.
I had the chance to work on set with Cruise and it's just a good rap, always kind and enthusiasts, he is aware of his status so he makes always effort to give some "Tom Cruise" to everyone.
