- Did you know that this Gravity Group wooden coaster is a clone of and named after Elvis Presley's favorite roller coaster? The original Zippin Pippin was located at Libertyland in Memphis, Tennessee, which closed in 2005. The original was sold for $2,500 at auction to Robert Reynolds and Stephen Shutts, who own a traveling museum called the Honky Tonk Hall of Fame & Rock-N-Roll Roadshow.
This one also uses the trains and some of the mechanical hardware from the former Thunder Eagle coaster at Race World in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which closed in 2001. Best of all, it only coasts $1 to ride.

One of my favorite coasters. It was originally in Memphis until the city in its infinite “wisdom” decided to shut it down and sell it. It was also Elvis’ favorite ride.
@@chargedonpc9989 it’s the same coaster that was in Memphis. They disassembled it and rebuilt it piece by piece exactly as it was.
The city didn’t really have a say in it the park went under and it sat abandoned until it sold
While technically it is the original Zippin Pippin, a great majority of the coaster was replaced during relocation, and it was basically rebuilt from the ground up.
It is a whole new coaster. They built a exact replica out of the original blueprints, would be impossible to rebuild the original one
Maybe Next year I will Ride Elvis Presley’s Roller Coaster.

Rode this in Memphis when I was a little boy. I'm 51 now. My first real roller coaster. 😀😀 Glad it still exists!
Nothing compares to the feeling and sight of an old woodie, even a clone or a mediocre ride, it just rocks!

I agree. I have at least liked every wooden coaster I've ever ridden, even the ones I'd consider the "worst" ones. Can't say the same for other coasters. Some are great. Some are okay. Some feel like a huge waste of my time, especially when I waited over an hour in line for a less than mediocre ride.
This was my first FAVORITE coaster. We spent many days at Libertyland in Memphis before it closed. The Zippin Pippin was my favorite ride there.

Last time I was in green bay I went on this roller coaster. I especially love the view of lake michigan when the coaster reaches the peak

This use to be a Memphis classic at Libertyland, it was Elvis favorite roller coaster too.
This was my first roller coaster I’ve ever been on. I used to be extremely scared of coasters. And after I rode this, my love for coasters sparked. For anyone who is scared is roller coasters, my advice is just to go ride one and not hold yourself back.
Fr and also begin by riding in the front do not and I mean DO NOT RIDE IN THE BACK IF YOUR NEW TO COASTERS the back is so good but terrifying for beginners.
I go here a lot since I live nearby, the Zippin pippin is my favorite because it helped me like more rollercoasters and not to be afraid.

I rode back seat yesterday and it was the most violent moment I ever experienced on a roller coaster. Overall the ride was great!

It looks like a great coaster. I have ridden many roller coasters, and the old woodies are still my favorite. Though I doubt that I will be able to, I would LOVE to ride Zippin Pippin.
I have loved coasters since I was a child in the 1950s, and I still do today!...and that's even after 4 college degrees. Don't throw your life away, but go out and have some fun! Stop listening to what other people say that you "should" be doing...it's your life to live...ENJOY IT!!

Yes. It is a great ride!
The coaster itself isnt old , gravity group took the blueprints of the og zippin pippin and constructed it , so the ride is glass smooth on the old layout

This is such a great ride! I just went on it! For a mid size coaster it really packs and punch and it goes so fast throughout the layout. There is a moment where it jolts you down and it’s just hilarious. Really good ride!

@@CatsAreKindaCool No, they didn’t remake it. They bought it from Libertyland, broke it down , moved it and put it back together. It’s the original coaster.

Heeey when the zippn pippn was in memphis. It had a loop that made the zippn pippn more exciting.
I’ve found no documentation of it ever having a loop.

Middle sucks, front is decent and back is the obvious choice

Didn’t know it found it’s way elsewhere after Liberty Land closed in Memphis.
It was a pretty crappy park. Pretty much this and a steel coaster that got pretty rusty was all they had as far as adult rides.

Don’t judge it until you ride it.
I hope they always keep up with the maintenance on this fantastic roller coaster. It's not a beat you up, over the top, hyper extreme coaster. It's a simple layout that works. If they were to ever improve or modify I could see this being a perfect candidate for titan track.
Honestly I just hope they add timberliners, the ptc trains are comfy and are charming but the timberliners look sooooooo comfy
