SEGA worked hard to find a mascot in the 90s that would be able to stand on his own versus the iconic Super Mario. Let's take a look at some early designs before they finally decided on Sonic the Hedgehog.

I would love to see some conceptual art for Tails, Amy and Cream. As well as hear the back stories for each.
Two solid video series that I can make since both the concept art and origin videos are doing so well!
Tails has a bunch of predecesors, one of them being a turtle called boomer, They eventually scrapped that idea and Tails in the beta was brown

I agree with this. Though some designs look somewhat cute or cool, our hegdehog Sonic seemed like the best design.

As Joseph Fletcher said earlier, one of the designs for Sonic was an armadillo. Alongside Eggman, this beta Sonic design would become a character (and a good guy who can go decently fast no less), named Mighty. Odd that he wasn't mentioned at all in the video.

I wonder what would Sonic the Rabbit looked like if it was in the movies both the old and the new design would have looked liked. Btw I'm really happy that they chose Hedgehog especially the New Movie Sonic design is my favorite design of Sonic.

Closest we’ve gotten to this is the character creator in Sonic Forces but I definitely wouldn’t mind a callback to this design.
Well at least they brought back a bunny character in the form of Cream.

To be fair the rabbit ended up being sonic wife in the comics at least she is a princess and was the original winner of the contest

0:43 0:46 The purple bunny looks like Bonnie and the Blue Bunny looks like Toy Bonnie from Five Nights at Freddy's. Maybe that's why Scott Cawthon likes the classie Sonic-looking-Bunny to make his own design characters as the animatronics.
