What a blessing! Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Leher. My family owned Panhandle Trailways and we're friends of his.

I wish that the NTBS(National Trailways Bus System) "The Real Trailways" existed today. Today's Trailways Transportation System is a shell of the once great NTBS & Continental Trailways.

My grandfather owned the Trailways Depot in San Francisco WWII era. My father was a Seminary student in Portland Oregon after the war and I was born there in 1948. When I was about 2 my parents out me on a Trailways bus with my 13 year old twin cousins and we traveled from Portland to San Francisco. Every Trailways stop along the route had been instructed to take care of us. (Can you imagine doing this today?!) My grandparents received us safe and sound. My mom, dad and new baby brother drove our old car back to San Francisco (dad finished Seminary). My father cleaned Trailways busses (yuck) while looking for a good job.

I worked in the baggage/freight department when it was Continental Trailways. That was back in 1971 in Ft. Worth, TX.

werksdesign My stepdad was doing the New Orleans to Houston run back then. Before he married my mother, she was a ticket agent at the Baton Rouge station. In the late 1960’s, my brother and I spent many summer days hanging around the station, barefoot, while Mom worked the ticket counter. At the end of the day, the bottoms of our feet were pitch black from hanging around that garage. Good memories!
Talking to my stepdad right now. He’s just made 91. He’s asking how old you were back then.

I didn't know that either. They must only run in certain areas of the U.S. because I've never seen them.

Not sure what year this was from but they show a flip-phone at 3:36 and a space shuttle at 0:17 (and later).
(The last space shuttle was in July 2011 and the iphone was introduced in 2007.)

I read somewhere (don’t remember where) that Trailways years ago had Bus Attendants on some of their routes and they would serve snacks drinks etc while en route between which years did Trailways have this service also on what route and what did they serve?

Did there used to be a difference in how Greyhound treated black people and how Trailways treated black people ? I think I knew a black senior citizen who preferred to take Trailways for some reason.

@@mauriceboykin4422 I just made a statement about my experience with one other person. It wasn’t a matter of right or wrong. I just had a question as to whether somebody else’s experience was credible. Thanks anyway.
