I am blessed to be retired and be able to do this almost daily. Adter my household chores are done, I sit in my home office and just study God's Word. It is so satisfying and gratifying.
I have wanted to take a vacation with Jesus. What I mean is “ go off the grid” for a week without social media, no internet, no distractions. Just my Bible and study supplies. How wonderful would that be?
I’ve never done this for a full week, but I did it for just 24 hours once and it was incredible. I went to hotel and turned off my phone and read and prayed and just existed alone with God for a full day. I did this for my 10 year anniversary as a Christian. On my way to the hotel, I stopped at some of the places that were important to my testimony, like the bible camp where I surrendered to Jesus for the first time. Highly reccomend!
One of my church worship team leaders, who played piano for almost every church meeting, finally took a month off to rediscover her personal joy in worship. It was wonderful to see my friend deeply reconnect with God-and not only during worship songs!
I recently purchased a interleaved bible. GIRL. It is life changing. I am enjoying utilizing the space to let my creativity flow. My notes are colorful, concise, and decorated. It has enhanced my ability to dive deeper into scripture because I'm having a fun time. YOU were the one who showed me the advantage of an interleaved bible and I can't thank you enough!
Take a 15-20 minute mental break between every hour of intense study for better retention. This helps prevent cognitive overload and poor retention. This method helped me graduate college with high honors. It was a tip I learned from a phycology professor early on.
I am doing the 7 day challenge on galatians right now. I just did the first day. I have to say wow. I recommend everyone to do this. I love it. Thank you so much. The amount of work you put into the study and recording it. I received so much already
This is awesome. I’ve been a silent watcher, but I sincerely enjoy your content. I’m a single mom and a teacher so it’s very difficult to make time and set boundaries to edify myself and indulge in the word of God. I think this is something that I NEED to do, not only because I want to grow closer to God, but because I feel like so much is missing in my life. My routine is always the same and I have no joy. Thank you 😊
Joe how could you! Lol Thank you for this video. It really had me think about whether I am taking my time during my quiet time or if I'm just doing it to check it off my to do list. Like today I spent more time in Psalm 60 when it is a type of psalm I might just gloss over. But my commentary really added a lot of historical information so I wanted to add it all in my Bible.
I’ve been sick (better now thank God) but have been off work for 4 weeks and I’ve studied my bible every day for hours and I’ve loved it. I’m 60 and my kids are grown so I don’t have any major demands since I’ve been recovering. Ive also watched many sermons on-line, which was mostly good but some I will not watch again. God bless you. Stay in Gods word.
This is so encouraging. I used to get up around 4 in the morning to pray and read the word before we started homeschooling at 8. I’ve been longing to get back to that just haven’t been disciplined enough to get going again. I’m going to start again by reading Galatians!
The fact that Joe still messaged you shows how smart you were to set this goal for yourself…it shows how much we gain from uninterrupted time with something special (family, Bible, self)…it shows how always being available to “everyone” can hold us back in other ways. You are an inspiration to many, including me.♥️♥️
The organization I work for challenges us to take what we call HOPEs (half day of prayer and reflection) and we aim for 4-5 hours to do this each month. It's truly such a good reset.
This is a wonderful suggestion & challenge to do! I have been struggling just learning how to be in God's presence & doing something like this may help me out. Now I want to implement this challenge on my weekends where I tend to neglect spending time with God. This can definitely refresh my walk with him and help me read the Bible more. Thank you for another great video! ❤️🌟
While it's true that we have responsibilities that give us limited time with the Lord than we want to, I really felt the Holy Spirit speak to me through this video. I miss spending 2-3 hours in the word and this was before I started seminary school - I've always worked full time and I have two teens who are fairly independent. Due to the busyness of school and its demands along with work - I case manage people who are homeless - I've been struggling to find a set time to focus on God's word. At 5am I'm falling asleep, at 9pm I'm getting distracted by my kids. I've been trying to do a Bible read through, which I haven't done yet but I only have about 300 pages to go. I have been reading almost everyday but not getting much out of it. A deeper Bible study just may be what I need to get me excited about reading the word! Thank you for this video! God has really annointed you to inspire so many people, including myself!
I usually wake up at 5 to spend alone time with God... I wake everyone else up at 8 but usually I spend half that just talking to God, the other half is doing Bible study. It keeps me meditating on the word all day, literally everything causes scripture to pop up into my mind.
This video was a delightful surprise bc 1.) I didn’t know Haley was a believer that’s wonderful 2.) I didn’t expect to want to try this challenge myself but now I’m contemplating on it

It is June 25 the 2022 today I set my phone timer for 4 hours I did my Bible study ,,my prayer journal,,and my junk journal.. I'm 75 so I don't have an excuse..It was wonderful and I totally enjoyable my days been great.. I can't do it everyday but I can't least 4 days

Joe Joe Joe how could you?! Just kidding. Faith this was a valuable video for me. Thanks. I will check out the you tuber couple and your Galatians study.
Faith, do you listen to music when you study? I'm always curious to know what people listen to in the background. I play calming jazz on TH-cam. I've tried several times to play praise music, but it distracts me because I end up singing and can't multi-task, lol. Anyway, if you do listen to music when you study, may I ask what do you listen to?

Do you have a link to the video Haley says she's reading the Bible for 4 hours straight? Her videos seem to be all non Christian... like reading thriller books for 7 hours etc.
Shame on you Joe!! Lol... I usually spend the 2 hours before bed reading and Bible studying (sometimes more - goodbye sleep lol) and I swear the Bible just sucks me in. I could easily spend 4 hours... although what really helps is having physical references. Bible and dictionary apps are awesome, but then there's phone distractions. I've seriously spent a half hour browsing amazon for highlighters or pens in the middle of reading 😕 so I saved up and bought hard copies of a concordance, histoy reference books, English dictionary and various Bible translations... ok let me shush now lol
Now Joe....you know better than to try distracting your wife when she's having quiet time...lol.It cracked me up you encouraged us to get after Joe.I think setting a challenge for yourself is great!!
Hi Faith!! I really love your channel! I never heard of the couple you are talking about, so think you for letting me know about them. What video does Haley Pham talk about reading the Bible for four hours and what you turned into the challenge? Can you include a link? I subscribed to her channel and tried to find the video you have the clip from. I would love a link so I could watch that. I actually have an unexpected week when I don't have to go anywhere, which is rare, so I am challenging myself to read and study the Word for 3 hours a day and work on the book I am writing for 3 hours a day--from today, Tuesday until Sunday. Thanks for the challenge and I am looking forward to watching Haley's video too! Good bless you!!
I still can’t figure out how to study the Bible and worse how to teach my son. He’s 6. I just don’t know where to begin reading, what I’m really looking for when I’m reading. 🤦🏻♀️
Check the Bible reading schedules on Ambleside Online. :) Their "Year 1" is asked at 6-year-olds. also, Kay Arthur books have themes/key words to look for in each book. ❤
Remember Haileys a full time influencer who can take a chunk of time out of a day to do this. So if you cant thats ok! Also I dont think God would want your nose stuck reading all day, He would want you out there spreading the Good News and serving others. Remember, the pharesies were the ones who were too busy overanalyzing about the law and scripture and Christ was out here in the field saving people.
Yes, you can do it at your own pace and you can also wait and start it in like a couple months if you want! It will be an ongoing challenge here for anyone that wants to take it.
Great question! Short version- it's totally great! But, for the long version answer check out this video here: th-cam.com/video/9TTwY_HfXAw/w-d-xo.html
Yes! I am pretty analog- I am just NOW trying to move my calendar onto my phone and every bit of me hates not writing it down and using highlighters and sticky notes! lol
Did you read the same book for 4 hours or did you switch it up? And how did you decide what to read? This seems like an amazing challenge. I've been struggling with my Bible reading. I love to deep dive and note take and look at commentaries but sometimes I feel like I need to just sit down and read God's word and that's it (which is the issue of what to read, should I read the same book I'm studying or something else, what we read at church or small group that week..etc😅) I'll have to check out your Galatians Study Challenge for sure!
I did the 4 hour challenge this morning and I just read in the same book I was already reading, so I read numbers 11-25, just did a more deep dive into it, it was honestly so nice you should definitely try it!
Haha love all the hate! In all fairness…I used Snapchat since Faith doesn’t usually check it when she’s on a mission 🤣 A text message would have been outrageous
There is no way I could do it. I might could listen to the bible for 1 hour. Max. I have no excuse. None. I misunderstood. I thought it was reading the Bible for 4 hours straight. I still couldn't do it for 4 hours. But I may could study the bible for one hour. It's a start I guess.
Am I the only here that when I hear sharing the word of God "Is My Job" makes me wonder why? She has used this same phrase for her husband's ministry, "His Job". The term ' job ' means 1. A full or part-time position of paid employment. 2. A piece of work, usually at a specific price. I don't want to be challenging to anyone. Am I out of line? I don't believe serving God is a Job. It my involve tasks which are often referred to as jobs. By the way I thought is was very sweet and heart warming of your husband to send a picture of the kids. It was OK to have an interruption from people walking by your studio but not a photo texted of your children. Truly confused here!
Vocational ministry is by definition both a job and a ministry- and that’s good and okay! “Job” doesn’t have to be a negative thing, it’s just a different brain mode of sorts. But; I encourage you to talk to your pastor about it. Maybe it’s different in your region or culture but those in ministry around us have no problem calling their ministry a job and the opposite. That’s simply what it is! But I’m sorry if my language bothered you, it’s just how those in my region and circles speak about vocational ministry. As for the picture, yes it was so sweet! We are just kidding giving him a hard time ☺️ it’s my fault that I can’t open up a picture on my phone without getting distracted with other things! Lol
I see that Joe must have really missed you since he knowingly interrupted you and not for an emergency or ever a semi-emergency … just cuz. 👩👩👦👦 Hopefully, if you choose to take 4 straight hours away again, it will truly be uninterrupted … unless it’s an emergency of course or if the kids go something cute, or Joe needs to know where something is, etc. Just kidding Joe. 😉

Can I do this now? A year later
Gotta remember Haley has no kids & works from home- so 4hrs is more realistic for her.. now, 1 hour is totally doable for pretty much everyone!!
Right! I have 5 kids so I'm being interrupted like every few minutes.
Yes! Good point! That’s why I wanted my challenge to be different!
Great point! I homeschool 9 kids, sooooo. We need to embrace our season!
My life, my mission field, for this season is motherhood 24/7. It won’t be a forever season so I’m embracing it whole heartedly.

@@HowtoFaithALife An application of this is the pomodoro method. I use it all the time. You can do 25 min study /5 minute break or 50/10.
@@HowtoFaithALife 15-20 minutes after every hour of study

This was convicting about how much time I’m wasting scrolling through meaningless things in the morning instead of truly starting my day with God.

JOE! Joe! joe!! How could you?? LOL
Joe how could you. 😊
JOE !!!! How could you
I feel like I need a reset button sometimes.
It would amazing if you guys make a video together 💖💖💖
JOE HOW COULD YOU!
Is too late to join or do the Galatians challenge? 😊
Not at all! I’ll be offering it forever! Join!

You have a studio?!? Seriously
Joe seriously?! How could you??
Come on joe! Lol
Joe, Joe, Joe. 🙃😁
Haha love all the hate! In all fairness…I used Snapchat since Faith doesn’t usually check it when she’s on a mission 🤣
A text message would have been outrageous
TRUE! LOL :)
Yes! My challenge is about a 1 hr commitment per day, because it’s just a bit more manageable! Lol
One hour is a great place to start!! It’s not about how long you can do, it’s about your heart going into it!

Shame on you Joe...LOL!!
Joooeeeee, you had 1 job.... Epic fail! Lol
😂😂
Lol
Joe your a little booger. My husband does the same thing lol.
Shut everything off while you are doing
