We need more of these in the UK. People are obsessed with huge SUVs here, which is a mental illness imo

Yes the UK loves a huge SUV! If everyone had a kei in the UK there would never be a parking problem! Thanks for watching

Yes nice get around Kei Car for sure. But you intend to import one to your country ONLY buy the Turbo version as it has the most fun with the max horsepower for this class. Non turbo Equals Boring!!

I must admit if I was going to send a car for Japan it would have to be something special. I do love a turbo and also a kei... Hence the purchase of the Mira turbo project!
      Thanks for watching

I did see a Suzuki Alto Kei Car the other day in the UK driving along, first one I've seen here!! I do wonder if they have the low road tax, and how easy parts would be to get since the service you did was quite reasonable in cost! Yours seems like a decent car for what you get, and who needs a big engine anyway lol

I am not sure, but I guess that the road tax would be in the below 1500cc category? As far as parts are concerned, I am sure that there are specialist companies in the UK that cater for these things. Yes, Kei cars are extremely good value for money. Thanks for watching!

I had always assumed that everything about your lifestyle would be neat and tidy and so it was actually a surprise to see that you are actually quite laid back about that sort of thing although I'm sure you had a lot of help from other family members in getting the car into that state! The kei car concept is actually quite appealing in some ways as although, as with so many modern cars, they have a lot of electronic tech, they also take you back to earlier times when cars were generally smaller and simpler and you had to use more ingenuity to get more out of them. I've seen warmed over examples with higher turbo boost and sports suspension etc. and I'm guessing they could actually be quite entertaining to drive without having to reach crazy speeds. You mention the 63bhp limit for such cars but does that also apply to anyone who wants to tune and mod their car?

I would love to say that my lifestyle is neat and tidy but unfortunately that's not always the case. The word hectic springs to mind! The state of the car was a family effort so I can't take full responsibility unlike the mess in the workshop. Yes, kei cars nowadays are loaded with tech yet still quite simple. Also the lack of things that aren't so important like fancy engine covers and covers below the engine probably keeps things more simple too. The way these cars are designed by making the most of the space that's available is amazing. There are plenty of tuning parts available for kei cars so bumping up the horsepower shouldn't be difficult but I'm not sure if the legality of doing these things is ok. Thanks for watching and commenting

@@MEZURASHII.lifeinJapan You have an excuse as you spend so much time and effort and attention to detail in the work you do and it's good that you are not stuck in the mode during your everyday life. I would like to be able to claim the same excuse but my professional life is equally chaotic.
I too am amazed by the packaging of these kei cars and it good to know they lack the unnecessary trimmings.
On the tuning side it will be interesting if you come across this kind of thing on your various travels and what the people selling the stuff have to say about the legality. It would be nice to think a certain degree of freedom is allowed as long as safety isn't compromised. I certainly wouldn't want to significantly boost the power without considering how that would affect brakes and handling etc. But at the same time I love the idea of exploring how much you could get out of so little.

I had a Peugeot 108 which was a 1L. That’s probably the smallest car I owed and was also one of the most fun.
The only thing is that most Japanese imports of these types of cars, is that they are automatic. My brain doesn’t work with autos and my left leg keeps trying to hit the clutch and then suddenly emergency brake mode 😂

Yes there is certainly something to be said about little cars. Some models can be such a fun drive. I've always thought that small engine cars and bikes are also fun as you can use 100% of the power unlike larger cars and bikes!?
Yes most cars in Japan seem to be auto's. I've always been a manual gearbox guy although nowadays autos can shift a lot faster than a human. Guess I'm old fashioned! I used to stick my left leg out of the way in an auto to stop accidently pushing the brake!😂
      Thanks for watching

@@MEZURASHII.lifeinJapanhaha, I had to do the left leg in the passenger side years ago when we got a courtesy car and that was an auto. My wife’s got a Grandland and it’s got a huge centre console blocking me from doing that trick 😂
Can’t wait for the next set of vids.

I change my Lexus RX450h oil for $20 ($38 for 10 quarts of full synthetic oil at Costco for Costco brand and $43 for 6 quarts for Mobil). The car takes 6.5 quarts, and the OEM oil filter is $6, a total of $26.🙂 Drop off the old oil at Oreille Auto Parts for free.

It sounds like oil in America is very good value for money. This comment is certainly a good tip for people servicing their cars and want to save some money. Thank you.
