Mind blown how much work goes on behind the scenes of a large farm. Kinda makes me wish I’d gone down that road as a career. I noticed the sarcasm with the quality of the new trailer and the weld that was cracking that hadn’t cracked 😅
Tom Lamb, he’s a farmer!! And a good egg helping old ladies And a massive loading shovel driver!! What’s your plan for the loading shovel? Massive bucket to load trucks or tons of fun shifting stone? Or both lol Great video Tom, my fave British farmery TH-cam thing at the moment.
Seeing that old tractor from the 40s reminds me of when my grandad, who farmed at Blackmore in Essex, bout some black market tires for his tractor. He became so worried about being found out that he dumped the tires in the village pond. He was a real worrier, which might have contributed to his dying of a heart attach before he even made 50. My dad died of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma aged 72, which we suspect was bought on by the chemicals farmers used back then (organophosphates and dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane, aka DDT). Take care of your health if you are farming today, or you might not see your grand children grow up.
That weld is definitely cracked on the toe. Liquid penetrant would show the extent. There is a lot of stress concentrated on that that bit. The paint seems to be cracking due to excessive stress on the metal
Another brilliant TL vid making an early start here in Australia more enjoyable. Love the little bit of history on that tractor from WW2. Keep these vids coming Tom, really interesting stuff seeing what goes into running the farm 👍
David the cat is a super star!!! Never ending chores on the farm! Cool stroy about the tractor. I have a farmall M. Most of our farmalls in the states have narrow front ends. Handful of wide fronts. Should do a will it start video on it!
Hey Tom farms are full time repair schedule to keep machines tip top big flexing of trailer ramp mount with welding cracking at anchor points great variety of farm work keep this sh1t up tomman excellent 👍🏻
When I was helping out on farms we had fields that were just loaded with flint and the tyres suffered so bad as a result. We used to keep 6 of every size just to keep up. Sometimes during harvest we would have to swap a tyre every 6 or 8 days. I saw David the cat looking to commit some no good. Keep an eye on that one. thanks for posting....
Quite the friday Tom! Got alot more done than i did! You've really got to do a vid on farm structure and history, you've got alot of ppl working on the farm!
You can definitely see that weld coming away @10:53. With that much flex that is absolutely going fail eventually. Going over the weld is not going to keep it fixed unless you work out some triangulation to prevent the flex.
Don’t know if this will be any good for you but I have a small tip for your concrete floors (for future). We have always kept a small step (10-20mm) between internal and external slabs. External being the lowest of course and the shutters always land on the external slab level. The idea behind it is that when you have heavy rain and strong winds, no water gets in the shed under the shutters. The rubber seals work of course, but if the floor level is not very good in doorway or seal gets damaged, the water will find its way in to the grain shed and flood the floor.
I’d be talking another look at that weld. Looks suss. Maybe get some gussets welded in to deal with that flex. Another job to do :( He’s Tom Lamb. He’s a Welder, Mechanic, Arbourist, Diesel Fitter, Hydraulic Engineer, Concreter, Volunteer, and sometimes, he’s a farmer.
Looks like every day on the farm 🙄. Frantically trying to fix stuff faster than it gets broken, and in between all the repair work try to get some work done to bring in the $$$ to pay for the parts and repairs!
You’re going to need a second pit Tom. 😂 I didn’t like the way the bracket the ram is attached to flexed at the weld. You mite need a brace in there before it breaks.
That weld is starting to crack. Doesnt look like enough penetration when it was first welded. Probably welded too fast with not enough amps.looks good on the surface but no strength
Very Ed China. They're my fav, too. If I got quite the same. Quite tough and good when the world gets messy. You can tell what's you and what isn't, plus a good texture and tactility (if that's a word). They don't stretch as much as others as hands get wet, but you sort of forget they're on, until you look.
Blimey Tom. How many acres do you farm? It's must be thousands to produce enough grain to fill two sheds that size. In 2021 they had what they called a plague of mice destroying their grain in storage. This video is like something from a Hitchcock horror movie. th-cam.com/video/5ILxK37tT1o/w-d-xo.html
Tom still waiting for my offer of working for 12 eggs aday lol. On real note That trailer needs some stiffening bars. Weather hydraulic lifters are its not goin to last 😒 ano theres top man out there @welderfabber baz cal Not forgetting the director
People don't realise how much is involved in just keeping farm stuff together and operating. Good to see your day.
you know what you need Tom!?.... Another Pit! 😆
Not getting bored watching you daily work routine at all Tom, I love hard work, I can watch it all day hahaha
Glad you enjoy it!
Tom lamb Friday on the Farm Ep1 😂 would like to see it continue!
On it!
Agree
Agreed great to see
Yes the weld is broken. The shaft looked a little loose as well 😊

Yer heap oh shit
Warms my heart to see Concrete Cat again :)
Great video Tom if you zoom in on the video there looks like a crack starting right at the top 👍👍
Could be
Thats so cool I love that the farm has kept the old tractors around credit to your family

Very interesting video Tom good to see people look after there equipment if you do it looks after you 👍 😄😄
I like the bit about the history of the tractor, I'd like to see a video about the history of the farm if you didn't already make one.
Busy but varied day of fun and games - great stuff - have a great weekend, Tom.

@10:53 I think it needs bracing to stop the flexing.
Great video Tom, nice to see David again. Would you ever let Henry Cole in your sheds to buy any old tractors or machinery ?
Another brilliant TL vid making an early start here in Australia more enjoyable. Love the little bit of history on that tractor from WW2. Keep these vids coming Tom, really interesting stuff seeing what goes into running the farm 👍
Il keep it up

Thank you for sharing this with us. Fascinating and insightful.
Thanks
Thanks Tom. Really great video as always. How do you know what to do with so many different mechanical parts and manufacturers? (Tom Lamb cap owner 😀)
You learnt the best manufacturer over time

Some days we don’t have anyone
Ditch the bar on the ramp, Ratchet Straps are all the rage now, many a new trailer comes out of a factory with them!
You can definitely see that weld coming away @10:53. With that much flex that is absolutely going fail eventually. Going over the weld is not going to keep it fixed unless you work out some triangulation to prevent the flex.
That ramp mount looked a bit weak to me. No support on a flat panel, it's going to break (just my opinion) that is a busy day cheers Tom
Thanks for that 😳😅

The shed floor is sloped outwards
Our farm has a crawler tractor at the bottom of the Atlantic that a uboat got. 😂
Tom, is that the Bailey low loader you purchased recently in this video ?. Brand new !!!!
Bit of a meccano job on the drill 😅 usual farming day fixing broke down things 😮 big Tonka toy 🧸 coming soon Tom 😂
Love your videos! I would have liked to have seen how you got that busted tyre off the hub.
Next time!
Seems a theme here, Tom. Fridays. If in doubt, make a Friday on the farm vid. Plenty going on. Thanks!
loved the story of the old tractor 👍 who are all the other people on the farm?
I’d be talking another look at that weld. Looks suss. Maybe get some gussets welded in to deal with that flex. Another job to do :(

True
Sometimes
Keep up the great work tom
That tyre must have gone off with a bang 😅
10:25 So nice to see the farm owner out mingling with the peasant workforce
😂 they just help me out when needed
Tom, I think you need another pit ,but make sure the shed is higher ..
Omg a brand new Bailey cracking up what a surprise wouldn’t touch one with a barge pole
Have a great weekend, Tom. 👊🏽
You too!
Can’t wait to see the 28ton machine and what you use it for
Hey, that's Tom Lamb! I hear he's a farmer
Bugger. Now I am going to singing that in my head all day. 😒
Where is the wheat being trucked in from?
@@jamg1562 all over the country
Some grain in that shed tom 👍👍👍 . Has it been imported ?
No it’s come from other farms
looks like you are going to have to dig another pit!
Looks like every day on the farm 🙄.
Frantically trying to fix stuff faster than it gets broken, and in between all the repair work try to get some work done to bring in the $$$ to pay for the parts and repairs!
You should weld “TomLamb” on your spent discs and sell them!
Hahha
Have a good weekend, Tom
You to
You need another pit!
Also should that steel plate be flexing that much on the trailer ramp connection?
I need one
No it shouldn’t
David the Cat is the real Farm manager
I know how to fix the black trailer - it obviously needs a thick coat black paint to reinforce the weld and bendy metal
How long has your family farmed there ??
Over 5 generations
@@Tomlamb980 Wow
"Are you getting bored of my daily job routine yet?" When can I play the video game of your life?!
seeing all the use the pit gets, you might as well build another one 🤣🤣
Dont think that rear cross frame should move like that lol. Id have a word with the manufacturer about that, or weld in a 5mm T-bar
There not untested
Interested
Awesome as usual!
Pit no2 then we get another cracking tom lamb pit build video 🤠
Interested in your whole operation. You seem to have many enterprises on the go. Do you run it with family members?
No just me mainly
You’re going to need a second pit Tom. 😂 I didn’t like the way the bracket the ram is attached to flexed at the weld. You mite need a brace in there before it breaks.
Didn’t really want to do that when the trailer is 2/3 months old
Busy boy!
Still waiting for my invite to the farm for a weeks work experience. :(
Time for a second pit build.
If you watch the video again that weld is cracking from the top.
It’s always a good day when Tom puts out a vid.. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You're the best!
Was that the same trailer you tipped on its side? Maybe that's what weakened the tyre. 🤔
No
ahhhaa, clever chap you are😃
Am I
@@Tomlamb980 new kit not made up scratch like it used to be! Good videos 😎
Bailey trailers and their “Wafer thin steel”
Sounds like you need another pit!

About time Tom! been waiting all week for an upload! :P
Here it is
11:49 great content again
Trailer should be made of hardox
I'd be having a word with baileys about that trailer. Thin steel and poor design it looks like 😢
time for a second pit! (a money pit:)
Nice gloves
The best
