This was a great video Ken. The laser beam tokens for the fighters and the colored rulers for for cap ship's were great additions. They really helped focus the action and tell battle's narrative.
Thank you, Jeremiah. This is great feedback as I wasn't sure how well this would have impacted the story. I knew there could be confusion as I was the only one talking the entire Battle. - Ken
I really enjoyed this! The robot seems to work fairly well, I'm definitely going to try and put it out onto the table and give it a go. Thanks Ken for showcasing this for us and a big thanks to Ed for creating the robot!
Really pleased that you enjoyed this one, Michael. I've played a few other robots / AI systems before, but this one is really well thought out. Once you get the hang of it, it moves pretty quick. I'm equally curious to see your thoughts on the robot after you get a chance to use it. - Ken
We were intentionally looking to do something different as a "between seasons" episode and this is a batrep I've been considering for some time. This robot is worth looking into and probably the best solo option I've used for Armada. - Ken
Haven’t seen the video yet, but I wanted to say that the photography for the fleets you used in the thumbnail was excellent! Very beautifully done and it definitely makes me excited to see the bat rep.
Thanks, Chapter Master Osiris! I really wanted to capture the fleets and the play mat. I hope you enjoy the bat rep as much as you enjoyed the thumbnail. - Ken
Thanks, Maxwell. Ed already has rules set up for RitR on boardgame geek. It’s all nicely packaged into one download. This Tuesday, I will be putting out a Data Link video where we will speak more to the campaign and how he built the robot. - Ken
Thanks Jeromy! We have lot of new bat reps for Season 2, glad you enjoyed the robot game. If you want more robots, we have a few Battlestar Galactica episodes. 😉 Yes, little joke. - Ken
This was interesting to watch. I’m curious how long the game actually took to play with the time it took to reference the robot manual for each move. I play against myself pretty regularly, doing a solo RitR campaign right now. I think I do a pretty good job keeping myself unbiased and making the best available move for each side as I play. Playing time is always the most critical resource so I’m curious how much time the bot added to the game length. In concept this is really cool, and I could see it being a stepping stone towards an AI script that you could run in vassal to play an AI opponent, which would be awesome.
The recorded game took about 3 hours to play with references. Keep in mind that I was also adding “shot markers” and moving a camera. I also wanted to replicate the robot as accurately as possible. The second game I was able to play in about 90 minutes. For what it is worth, I felt it was faster than playing against myself as I was not having to “change gears” when I was playing against myself. I will warn you that you will have to get used to the robot before you get to that level of proficiency. I have probably played about 15-20 games with Ed’s robot. - Ken
Hi Bryan, There's a learning curve with the robot, but after a couple of games you should be able to play mainly with the fast reference cards and only really use the manual for the guidelines of the objective that's being played. I've done a few games in Vassal with the robot and it works fine but bear in mind that the robot is not designed to be an autonomous AI, you still have to roll the die.
Thanks, crazykev1985. This is a robot system that I personally enjoy quite a bit. It does not "act" as random as others I've tried, and it is detailed enough to really pose an interesting puzzle to solve - giving the robot a good chance to beat you. - Ken
I liked the format. It’s not as fun as watching you and John play but it was short and quick with all the detail needed. I often play games alone and just end up playing both sides, but the robot sounds interesting!
Check the Robot out as it should provide some added interest in your solo games. If you get a few games in with it, let us know how it works for you! Thank you for the feedback on this first run of solo play. I'm glad that it worked and told the story of the battle. It was much more difficult to do than I initially expected. Season 2 begins on Friday (September 17) with our normal format. - Ken
This is a cool looking AI! Just downloaed it from bgg. Going to try it out since i can't get out much right now with the rona. Is that hero quest behind you?! That game is old it must have cost a lot
Thank you, Mark. Have fun with the robot and let us know how well it worked for you. This is my original copy of Hero Quest from when I was a kid. It has been in my collection for over 30 years.
Glad you enjoyed the photo montage, I wasn't sure how well it would work. Sounds as though you all enjoyed it though. :) Although the AI isn't John, it was still an enjoyable experience. As Ed mentions in the AAR, if you plan to beat the robot you will every time. Having said that if you use the AI to make certain decisions it can provide a fun experience. - Ken

Your most welcome Michael, I hope you have fun with the robot !
I'm on BGG too. Just downloaded it and saved to my iPad books folder to read later
This was different but I found it interesting on how the robot played

This was a real rebels Vs imperials because rebels had to run away after doing as much damage as possible!😂
And a great game as always! Thanks!
Yeah, there was no way I was going to take down that ISD and win the game. Best to tuck tail and run. ;)
Glad you enjoyed the game!
- Ken
@@IONRadio yeah, there just wasnt enough time and possibilites
damn i was so stressed that i nearly forgot friday ion radio time :-)
Time for stress relief! New Battle Report. :)
- Ken
That was very interesting! Cool system. Great editing Ken, alot of work went into that. Game aside. Robot system for RitR would be very fun.

Great batrep Ken! Entertaining and I was able to kill some time at work. I know there are more solo systems out there. This one seems cool.

Why did you choose heavy turbo laser even though you didn't had the Salvo defends token?
Kyrsta Agate (Commander) allows the Assault Frigate to gain a non-scatter defense token. It gained a Salvo defense token on deployment.
Where’d you get those attack indicator tokens (the laser ones)?
The individual laser blasts on clear stands? Litko.
