Welcome to Valhalla Games first "paint and learn" video. In this first episode Dan uses the fantastic 28mm Offensive Miniatures WWII British Airborne to explain how he paints a realistic depiction of the WWII era red devils uniform complete with the REAL colour for those maroon berets. As well as painting, Dan talks about the historical evolution of the uniform its self.

Great work, Dan. Very informative about the smock and how to paint it so it is appealing to the eye, but staying true to the actual design. Excellent work on the figures and their bases too. The shot of the sniper in the first 30 seconds or so was really cool. I think you made the right choice changing the hair colour of the casualty figure. I was thinking if you had made him ginger (like the guy who ran for the drop canister in the bridge too far - he was ginger, wasn't he?) the color would really attract the eye. I might have to try a darker skin base after this.

Don't say "red" in front of Dan they are MAROON ;-)
@@rexwithers I thought red berets was military police? Still makes me worry a bit when Dan has a pot of paint by his maroon beret

Great video, loved the detailed step guide. What colours did you use from the camo on the smock if you don't mind my asking? I might have missed it 😵💫

@@kenc9236 Great to hear! so, yes; we are using 1/56 armour and vehicles with 28mm figures. some figures are less 'heroic' 28mm than others...perry miniatures and offensive miniatures 28mm figures definitely match1/56 vehicles very well. But of course the great scale debate will never end, haha!
Beautifully done Dan. Having just finished a Platoon of British Para’s myself, I can see I can learn from many of the tips you mention. Having said that, did I see a mould line on an arm at 12:45 ?

Valhalla Games Na, just an old bloke at home collecting and painting figures and terrain because I find it peaceful. Certainly not of a standard to be displayed in such distinguished company.

Chris P. Bacon Had a couple of games of CoC only. Really a collector/hobbiest. Chose to spend gaming time Board gaming rather that Tabletop gaming. Will change one day.
