I use the Dvorak keyboard layout, which is an alternate arrangement of the keys. So, for example, when I press the “j” key, “h” is what is registered.

i feel like i've hit a cap in my typing speed, i've been at 100-110 words per minutes on 60 second typing tests for the longest time now. i've been practicing every single day for over 30 minutes, but still see absolutely no improvement. any tips?
Keep going! It took me a month to improve from that state, I am now typing 120-140 wpm just keep practicing :)

I’ve noticed from this video that, by typing with Dvorak, most of the keys typed are in the home row. Does this give you an edge as opposed to typing with Qwerty, Colemak, or any other layouts you may know of? I’m hoping to cross 150 words per minute by the time I reach high school, and I’m considering switching to another keyboard layout to help with that. So virtually, I’m asking if the time investment is worth it in the long run.

What is your story? Were you qwerty user initially then switched to dvorak? Or dvorak from beginning?
If you've experienced both, share experiences of them. What's more comfortable? How quick can you switch layouts mentally?
I used qwerty from age ~6-10 and then switched when I started practicing. I can switch back and forth instantly

I am scared to switch to dvorak cause it might mess qwerty's muscle memory. Sometimes we are forced to use qwerty

John, I am thinking about trying Colemak, is a keyboard layout created for latin languages. Here in Brazil, we have a QWERTY with some extra keys like "ç" but the rest feels strange, hahaha. But the most annoying thing is the fact that the "ç" is located literally right side of the "L" so, my pinkie is positioned on this fucking "ç" not on a colon (I think)
I hope you could understand what I was trying to say, hahaha.
