First Hay Cutting Of 2024!!!!

Hay season 2024 is officially here. We started out cutting our biggest field. Last year we drilled it with Marshall Rye Grass and fertilized it with chicken litter. With our first cutting we always wrap it as rye grass haylage. It should make some really good cow chow this winter.

We usually cut around 5-6 mph. All depends on the terrain and also how thick the hay is. If we get to going too fast and hit an armadillo hole it'll throw you out of the tractor seat 😂😂

We use krone easycut 360 and krone am 243 three point hook up side pull mowers

We use a JD C300 moco. Honestly not needed since we do mainly haylage. But works really well for dry hay.

We are still a few weeks away from starting up here in VA. We mow with a New Holland H7230 discbine usually pulled by a 2955 or 7200.

I’m about 100 miles southwest from you. We have had a krone big m 2 for the past 10 years and it was an awesome machine. We just sold and bought an low hour John Deere r450 windrower hoping it’s more reliable and parts are more accessible

We run a Krone trailed TS 320 cutter. I agree with you Eric that it is nice to have that second cutter going.

@@FarmerHunt yes we like a good bit. We bought it new in 2019 and have ran it pretty hard. Of course, bigger is always better. So if we had bigger or another cutter, it would be better.
