- The Final day of RIAT 2023 saw a B-52 Stratofortress from the 93rd bomber squadron, barksdale air force base, Louisiana take off and give the crowd a fly past. Not as dynamic as the fighter jets but an iconic aircraft from the Cold War and later.

I love how the B-52 doesn't rotate before take off, it just lifts into the air. 0:32
"Not as dynamic"? She doesn't need any apologies on her behalf! A fantastic show and spectacle all on her own, expertly handled by her crew. What a graceful touchdown!
Amazing jet! Great video! My first years in Air Force (1983-2012) serving in SAC…she was impressive then as she is today! Can’t wait to see her with new engines and pushing her beyond my years!! Bless those who keep her flying!
Thank you for serving sir!❤😊
@@josephnewburgh8531 thank you! Loved every day of it!! Met many friends around the world and learned so much from others
My Dad was S.A.C.
Like an old golf diesel taking off at the traffic lights 😂 love the smoke
Very dynamic flying for a big bro.
Loved specially how well you locked onto his approach for landing.
1952 first flight, amazing. Will be interesting to see it with the new engines.
British engines!!!!
I'm going guess less smokey! BUFF does leave quite the trail.
Hope one day Riat can get a flypast of the B-52 with the B-1b and B-2 all together. Would be such an awesome sight!
That would be amazing 🇺🇸✈️👌
Funny thing is when all the B1Bs and B2s are retired and sitting in the desert the BUFF will still be active and flying high!
It was nice of the USAF to pull one off for the unveiling of the B-21.
We almost got that in 2006 / 2007 (can't remember exact year) - the theme that year was "stealth" so we got a B-2 Spirit flyby accompanied by x4 F-15's; and the B-52 & B1 Lancer did a combined display, which was just incredible to see (The noise!!!).
This year was my first time going since about 2010 and unfortunately on the Saturday they grounded a lot of the aircraft, due to massive crosswinds - all the heritage stuff and the B-52
😥 the selection on display was quite disappointing though if I compare it to how spoilt we were when attending x3 times prior around '04 / '06 / '10.
It was special to see this jet back at RIAT. Great footage. Thanks for the share! 😎
Brilliant to see the old B52 at RIAT as it's been a while. Hopefully wouldn't be too long before it's back.
Definitely a plane that's at its most exciting when it lands. Assuming the re-engining finally gets done, going to be weird to see them fly without black clouds behind them.
Yeah I can't believe jet fuel Burns that dirty. the new diesel engines are so clean you can't see the exhaust
What a beast! Love those smoky trails! 😃
💨💨👌
Father in law worked on B52 Ds at Utapao Thailand back in 68/69. Great to see them still flying.
The sight of this must upset the Stop Oil protests in London!🥳 Could not be more pleased!
How dare you!!! 😂
Should have done a fly past
Amen I was at Fairford today got the eight engined BUFF on video, yes stuff those just oil fkers, would be great to round all these idiots up get the 52 drop a jdam on the lot of those eco fkrs
Give your heads a shake
Can you breathe jet exhaust? Muppet.
Always beautiful to see the B52 fantastic aircraft
Couldn't agree more!
Still so impressive! Thankyou Dafydd 👍
Thanks for watching.
I worked on the top floor of a building near the flight path of Dobbins ARB in GA. One day a BUFF decided to swing by for about 20 minures of Touch-n-Gos. By the time he was done, he left a black oval smoke trail that you couldn't see thriugh.
And oh the sound was glorious!
Would love to have seen it!! ✈️💨
Thanks for watching.👍
sounds absolutely awesome ❤️
I just videod one a couple months ago and right after it a c5 galaxy. The camera just cant do these things justice as far as showing the massive size. And that sound 😍😍😍 thank you sir.
Thank you.
To Dafyyd thank you a million times over for constantly going out there filming them taking photos it keeps us informed on these heroes. Youre great Dafyyd you really are.
Many thanks Michelle 😎✈️👍
In Jim Carrie's best voice..."Smokin" !!! Nice vid mate 😊
Thank you kindly Tony 👍
This is a superb footage on this beautiful B-52H Stratofortress 😁😎
Thanks Douglas.
@@DafyddPhillips much welcome Phillips !! 😎
What a great old bird. Thank you very much for sharing. :)
Many thank for watching 👍
Last time I saw one was the First Gulf War. Westover MA Airbase was their last east coast stop before heading over to the UK. Along with a almost constant stream of C-5 Galaxies transporting troops and tanks.
I was 3 yro when the first b52 had its maiden flight. Its a good chance This plane will outlast my lifetime.
With the way the world is going absolutely crazy we need our service men & women badly. So i say thank you to all of them so much & that they all keep safe keep well THANK YOU TO ALL OF THEM.
The only plane today's young pilots fly on the same plane as their fathers and grandfathers.
Thanks for sharing!
BoB flight has entered the chat.
Had an excellent day today at Riat !
She's a beast both inside and out. Use to work on them when Carswell was a bomber wing until it closed.
Great to see the BUFF in action! Well done Mr. Phillips!
Thanks John 👍
Time to change her name to Big insatiable lady BIL😅😅😅
Yehaw Big E! Thanks for the great shots! Must be a blast to fly that giant condor! 🥃🇺🇸🇨🇱
Thank you USAF for allowing us to explore underneath this beast 🙏
In the 80s, I had the honor of flying as a gunner on the G models.
Love it sort of "jumps" off the the tarmac, it was circling around for quite a while, those underneath it's holding pattern will have some soot to clean in the morning,!!, what a great end to the show,,,,
Also notice the 52 was crabbing pretty good just before touchdown. Oh well another day at the office for a 52 driver.
All that black smoke... awesome, I can hear Greta choking in her home town
🤠💨💨💨
*Spectacular 💪🏻*
May not be as dynamic as the fighter jets but still damn sexy!
Saw another vid of this performing a crab walk taxi back to the hangar after this and taking out like 18 runway lights 😅it was awesome
I’d just left before that happened 🙄👍
What a beast!! Awesome video again!! Keep up the good work :)
Thanks Dylan 👍
Magnificent Beast...
That bird at 02:45 saw that beast coming and thought: "Nope!"
Smoke on……..go!
Was cancelled yesterday when I went 😢
It was a bit breezy across the runway yesterday sadly
Love your content!
Many thanks for viewing it. 😊
I have just seen one of these on display at Duxford Air Museum, Everywhere you walk in the hanger it is either beside you or above you, It was impressive to see it on the ground and even more so to see them fly.
Great catch again as always 😎
Thanks for watching, appreciated 👍
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
Looked at FlightRadar to see some of the pre-show arrivals on Thursday: happened to catch the USAF group with the ‘Flying Pentagon’ heading home from the NATO meeting.
What a ✈️
Red One: Smoke.... on!
B52: hold my kerosene.
🤠💨💨
Even the Skylarks were singing her praises!
Nice footage!👍🏻💙
Thank you.
How do you shoot down a B-5?
Follow the smkoke trail and lead it a bit.
Awesome very nice.
Thank you.
The tail markings, black with white trim, are indicative of a high ranking officer, usually a squadron, base or wing commander.
The indicate that its a flagship. The crews aren't assigned to a single aircraft, so anyone can be flying it.
Beautiful. The rotation is almost imperceptible...
Icon
Nice one!
Thanks.
nice one Daf > are they still flying ?? It's a wonder they fly at all , everything seems to happen in slow motion ! great film of a crab-wise landing .
Máy bay ném bom hạng nặng B52 có trang bị đầu đạn hạt nhân trên đó rất tuyệt 🇺🇸👍
👍👍
Was this filmed in the grass area just in front of the C17 and a bit to the west of it too?
Yes in FRIAT. 👍
“Shoot a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.”
Long Live the BUFF
Cajun BUFF
genialllllllllllllllll
Couldn't have been too warm there, with everyone wearing coats.
The new Rolls Royce engine upgrade shall be a welcome sight in the near future
Didn’t know they ran on diesel 🫣🫣🫣
Why couldn’t the lovely Vulcan have fulfilled the same role for Britain as does the B-52 for the US?
Super Air force
Thanks Davyd! I wonder why they always smoke so much? Quality of fuel? Hmm😮❤
Good question!
I'm wondering if there is a B52 nicknamed the Love Shack?
😎great song!
@@DafyddPhillips The album, Cosmic Thing is awesome too.
Always impressive . Have same âge like me. But in Good shape and soon re-engineed 👍. .not me😢
Sadly I had to leave before I could see these behemoths up close on the runway I saw it circling in the air during the finnish F-18 display but they were very far off I hope they come next year and the weather is better
Why did you leave? They put on an amazing display and full length sideways taxi
@@jthomas4361 I went with some of my friends and they overreact when it rains 😔
@@NavyThunder_YT they’re a bunch of snow flakes
@@jthomas4361 agreed
Was this sat or Sunday ?
Sunday. Saturdays take off was aborted due to wind
oh so they fly it the day we’re not there okay 😭
Ouch!!
I want to know how the USAF manage to keep them flying perfectly well all over the world yet the UK seems to scrap or sell off perfectly good planes claiming 'metal fatigue' etc.
Beautiful ! Any reason why it needs a parachute at the back when stopping ? Don't the breaks work
I'm guessing that the engines don't have thrust reversers like more modern engines do.
Great to see such a low emission aircraft on display 🤔
The Tesla of the Sky 🤠💨💨
It's terribly noisy, but at least it smokes a lot.
Indeed 😁💨💨💨
You mean its flight was terribly short but at least it's noisy and smokes a lot.
Despite my love for this machine since long, today I hated the engines for the pollution they generated! God help mother earth
You will be pleased to know that the B-52 is being reengined with Rolls Royce engines, no less!
@@thomasmoran899 Thank you for the update. Sooner the better.
Is this the new low emissions model?
Indeed 😁💨💨💨
With the new engines, they will stop smoking like a diesel powered bomber 😅
I wonder if that will upset some of the smartypants commenters here 😂
I'm not a pacifist, but the fact that these aircraft dropped over half a million pounds of bombs on Laos and Cambodia is a bloody disgrace. The world's richest nation bombing two of the poorest.
Why do B52 aircraft smoke so much in this day and age.
Because they are still using late 40s jet tech, for now. Enter the B-52J w/RR F130s. Coming soon to an AFB near you.
It's great to watch it there. But, its not a vulcan.
BUFF!
hahahah best in the sky zero on the ground
Cough, Cough, Cough ... remind me why we're being forced to buy Hybrid Cars Boris ...???
so that your amers always equaled the number of ups and downs ☠
Umweltverschmutzung. 1 Klasse
Get yourself checked for lung cancer after that. Those engines look like they’re running on crude oil.
Jez. The B-52, the leading cause of climate change 🤣🤣
is Greta watching this?
💨💨💨🤠
How much it polutes? Electric cars haha what a joke
I prefer B52 to any fighter!
