We had a Ball Python growing up named, "Jake." We got Jake because she (surprise gender reveal after the naming) was biting students. A college professor had her and she was big and healthy and beautiful but not handled enough. We got her and held her almost daily. Of course, we didn't mess with her on feeding days or when she was shedding. She never bit us once. Now, I love snakes. Most people I know are completely disgusted or terrified by them. It's nice to find kindred spirits on here. You guys can appreciate their beauty and respect their temperaments. Rock on!
The one problem with watching your videos is that your passion is infectious. You get to talking about how beautiful your snakes are and their genes and I just *want one*. I've got one lovely normal, but I don't have room for a second snake at the moment. When I do, I'll come to you! I love your passion for your snakes
I love Axanthics, they are freaking gorgeous. I love the pastels, but the normals are so beautiful, their patterns and colors are amazing. The pastels are beautiful too though. Very nice clutch 😍
Hey Miss Jmuse. What you put into your snakes is what you get out, with food, water, and overall care. Olympus Reptiles does all of those to a great degree, and this clutch was no exception. Even the normals are on fire!!!
I love axanthic too.... beautiful.... I'm wanting to get into the hobby of snake breeding because of axanthic.... doing lots of research and Also I've been watching a ton of videos. Mostly your videos.. I love Olympus reptiles vids.. lol
There has to be some kind of reference for "shout outs" dealing with balls since that is the play on words you use. Very nice update! I learn more everytime I watch. I passed my basic venomous snake handling course. Thank you for your thoughts and Dave's thoughts in regards to tongs and hooks.
Just a random question... Why did you choose the SK line of axanthic? Most of what I see is VPI. Are there differences that work better with different genes?
my first ever clutch is almost out. been waiting for like forever and been checking em like every 2 hours! been a fan since you got like less than 2k subs and i've been helped a lot by your channel matt! thank you so much! it's day 54 now and i'm still waiting cause i'll be out of town for a week in first week of july. that week will be like . . . for me.
Do u have any of those pastel axthanics that u could show full grown or even those babies a year later right now?....I know I’m a year late on this vid lol......ok edit I finished watching the video and saw the adults......still wouldn’t mind seeing the babies a year later but you prob did an update and I prob missed that video haha
Don't these snakes require sunlight? Can't help but wonder if being in a dark drawer 24/7 is the most healthy environment for any reptile. Is there something I'm missing?
Yes there is. They are nocturnal and spend the vast majority of time in the wild in termite holes, in the dark. This closely replicates that, and bright light stresses them out. They require no uvb. Now, that is not true for all Reptiles of course, as many require uvb or they will die. It is all dependent upon the species you keep
Not compatible with sk or vpi. Less of them around in general which causes less people to work with them. Just like the other lines can have both hood and bad examples. Was starting by a guy named Miguel joliff I believe
Bc you guys are doing an amazing axanthic projects have you thought about doing a super form axanthic bc then you'd have amazing looking that are brighter and cleaner paint patterns just a thought let me know what you think
Can't do a super as the visual is already a "super" since it is homozygous. One could try to do an sk and vpi axanthic, however I don't know how that would work out.
Olympus Reptiles that's what I meant by super form it would be a cool project and the look of it would be awesome thanks for the videos keep it up and don't lose the enthusiasm
Gorgeous man , SK is something I just don’t have yet and I eventually would love to get some Axanthic super stripe going , This is my first year hatching BP , done others just not BP excited as hell , nice nice I’d love to get a 100 female Axanthic or visual
I think you want to add some fire and some pastel in it. Spider wouldn't hurt too, maybe with a bit of calico. A calibee axanthic fire would get very black and white, with a little bit of light gray speckling most likely.
Hey Christopher Sexton. That's a good idea. Just make sure you get a good quality line like what Matt has, so it looks good as a baby AND good as an adult. Some of the other lines don't age the best, and just look like bright normals as adults.
Hey! Off topic but I need help! I just adopted an adult female ball python, she's pretty big and I have barely any background on her all I know is she has been fed live all her life and doesn't take rats, she's pretty big honestly her first feeding with me is near and I have no idea what to do! The only rats available where I live are large and vicious looking! And if I do feed her mice I want to feed more than one about 3-4? How can I do that? How long do I wait before giving her another one! Also this is my first ever reptile I'm New to the hobby would love some tips and help.
No, as visual axanthic is homozygous. "super" is a term that someone made up a long time ago to refer to a homozygous inocmplete dominant traits. So a super pastel axanthic is a homozygous axanthic and homozygous pastel. A pastel axanthic is a homozygous axanthic and a hetrozygous pastel. A pastel het axanthic is a hetrozygous pastel and a hetrozygous axanthc.
Call it "Honoring the fuck out of" :D I mean or you could just say "We'd like to thank today" You know what else it would be hilarious to just call 'classic' coke instead LOL. Since that was like the first big 'classic' thing that became really popular in recent memory. 'Coke' morph AKA... normals XD
Why not say we would like to show our support of xxxxx? Let’s recognize ...... for the time and effort in ....., We would like everyone to appreciate what.... has done for the hobby.
Hey Olympus Reptiles. Great work guys, your snakes never cease to disappoint. Great video, and great quality Babies!!!

A strike out lol such a play on words and so many meanings
Wow! They are amazing. I absolutely love axanthic, but I love a lot of genes. Just can't help it!
Just a random question... Why did you choose the SK line of axanthic? Most of what I see is VPI. Are there differences that work better with different genes?

What you know about Joliff Axanthics?
Not compatible with sk or vpi. Less of them around in general which causes less people to work with them. Just like the other lines can have both hood and bad examples. Was starting by a guy named Miguel joliff I believe

So if you get an SK axanthic, what is the best thing to breed it to in order to produce black and white axanthics?
I think you want to add some fire and some pastel in it. Spider wouldn't hurt too, maybe with a bit of calico. A calibee axanthic fire would get very black and white, with a little bit of light gray speckling most likely.
Just stunning
I WANT ONE!!!
Whots the price of those baby's becus next year i buy my own house and i want a snake like that 👍😁
Hi Matt, will you be selling these?!
Yes. But I would say being on patreon would be a good move, as I think many will sell there prior to hitting the public

Calling you out olympus reptiles haha
Does TGR Racks sponsor your channel?
Curtis Powers yes, but that came AFTER we we're using and recommending them, not before
How can I purchase?
Best way is www.patreon.com/olympusreptiles
Love the axanthic stuff too... cant w as it to breed my axanthic killerbee
A "shout out" is essentially just a "special mention" of/to something or someone. Hope that helps
Great video imo I like the VPI axanthic a bit more but all axanthics are nice
Is there such thing as super axanthic?
No, as visual axanthic is homozygous. "super" is a term that someone made up a long time ago to refer to a homozygous inocmplete dominant traits. You basically recalled shoutouts your self name drops 👍
yes, but open to change. Kind of liking the suggestion in another comment of "honoring the fuck out of"
