It’s crazy to see how much variety there was back in the day, so sad we now have to do it with almost only 737s and A320s. Glad we can still enjoy this beautiful footage from back in the day, great work guys 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Same thing with my local airport. Big 3 and 4 engine jets flying international and vintage props/turboprops flying into the wilderness and arctic during the by-gone future. These days in the post-future decline it's just a 737 convention center with the odd Q400.
10:12 : This Britannia 757-200 (G-BYAG) crashed on landing in 1999, killing one person 25:21 : This Lufthansa A319 (D-AILR) was damaged beyond repair after a tail strike on landing in 2019 47:15 : This British Airways 737-400 (G-BNNL) crashed as Adam Air Flight 574 off Sulawesi Island in 2007, killing all 102 on board
Fantastic video, you don’t realise just how much we’ve lost in 26 years. Caledonian TriStar absolutely beautiful, remember flying on that from Manchester to Palma, what memories.
Air 2000 757 was the first airline i ever went on to Menora in 1999, i am now 30. The golden era has gone. But will always stay in my heart. We flew from Stansted, i still have the model from the exact plane we flew on!, its almost as old as me!.
For me the biggest difference is the huge variety of airlines and liveries. There are so many airlines I have never seen (that either folded or merged especially after 2008) alongside the variety in planes this is great. Now it is not just twinjets, but most airports in Europe are 90% Ryanair or Easyjet!!
Pre-pandemic Ryanair had 2500 daily flights out of a total of an average of 25000 daily flights in Europe operated by various airlines. Across Europe as a whole, low-cost carriers (Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, etc.) typically make up 40-50% of total flights, depending on the country and specific airports. Full-service carriers like Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, British Airways, and many other national airlines still maintain a significant share of flights.
This was exactly the year I went to Palma de Maiorca on vacations, and arrived in one of these: 3:22. It was my first time travelling on a airplane and it was absolute BLISS. Thanks for sharing!
I was a young teenager avgeek living in Mallorca then, I remember so much of this!! Thank you for sharing!!!! Watched every second! Super amazed to see those two soviet jets (the ilyushin and yak), that really surprised me!
What a great hour to watch. So many airlines and types have gone now. I can remember these operators from my early airplane spotting days. Having been on Mallorca in 2002 still a lot of them were there. Thanks for sharing.
Simply, wow!!!! So many airlines which no more exist and I have already forgot them. This video brought very nice memories to me:) And my most favorite livery in this clip is Lauda. I just loved the colour combination. It fitted together somehow perfect:) Thank You very much for this great compilation👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A great selection of great airlines and liveries from the late 1990s. It was like being at Palma airport in the 90s watching this. I miss so many of these airlines: First Choice air 2000 (Tapestry being one of my favourite liveries), Monarch, Britannia, Air Tours, Caledonian, British Midland, the old Landor BA livery. Wonderful to see DC-10s flying, I don't remember seeing them at Palma. At one point there was a Boeing 747 Martinair in the background. Those were good times.
The variety is just great. But as expected (by me) plenty 757s plying their trade, ferrying Brits to their holidays. I always liked Airtours' 90's livery. Used by Premiair too, of course. The Caledonian Tristar was the star of this video for me.
Such a great Stuff. Thanks for that and more of this please. Absolutely love these Aircraft and had a real Flashback. My Favourite is the L1011 and the DC-10s. I have flewn on the D-ADQO CGN-PMI for myself in 1996 i think.
I have loved going back 26 years and seeing the beautiful liveries of many companies that have already disappeared that have remained in our memory, wonderful those years when the Internet was barely used and most of the current things that make this world today did not exist. madness, wonderful years that will never return....
Nice one but are you sure about 1997? Several sources say that the Germania 737-700 at 46:01 with the registration D-AGEP and the TUI-Livery was delivered in March 1998
Reading these comments from europeans complaining about the lack of Variety and boring liveries have def made me just a *little* more greatful about where I live and spot. My local airport mostly just has 777s, A320s and 737s like any other but it also sometimes gets 737 classics like the -300 and -500. I've also spotted a little in the other cities of my country and also have found some oldies including A310s, A300s and 2 747-200s The liveries are mostly boring as well but i do still sometimes get some beautiful ones like Azerbaijan Airlines, Thai, Oman and Qatar
So many 757’s Britannia and first choice air 2000. I went to palma in this year at the age of 9 so maybe could of been on that Britannia 757 from Gatwick
Look at all the colour in those days. Look at the old easyjet 737 with the telephone number, bet everyone there looked at it and thought, that wont survive for long and now look at them. Shame we have lost so many airlines.
ha seeing some old liveries and the 757s and 737 classics takes me back some. first plane i flew on as a kid was a 757 with air2000 then the following time was a 737-300 with Go airlines.
Cant be 1997, G-MIDC for example only join British Midland in 1998. id say this is 1999 when it was on lease to Air 2000 as G-BYAG is still active in this video.
90s was just the best for the variety of airlines and aircraft types. Nowadays, 75% is easyJet, Ryanair, Wizzair and TUI, and everything is Boring 737s and A320 series.
I think this is closer to year 1997. British Midland didnt receive their first A321 until then, plus the leased Britannia 767-300 G-BXOP was in service then too. Great video though.
I think this is actually 1998 because one aircraft (Britannia AB 737-800 OY-SEA) only had it's first flight on 9th of May 1998 and did not enter service until June 1998.

Thanks very much and fully agree, aviation was a lot more fun back in the days
My local has 330s and 757s
Back in those days we flew from Amsterdam to Palma with a 747, today you can't imagine 😂
Well said could not agree more 😢
10:12 : This Britannia 757-200 (G-BYAG) crashed on landing in 1999, killing one person
25:21 : This Lufthansa A319 (D-AILR) was damaged beyond repair after a tail strike on landing in 2019
47:15 : This British Airways 737-400 (G-BNNL) crashed as Adam Air Flight 574 off Sulawesi Island in 2007, killing all 102 on board
Well your a little ray of sunshine!😂
D-AILR wasn’t a tailstrike, it was struck by portable stairs at the tail cone, was written off
Video is cursed 😮😢
Most hull loss aircraft featured in a single video?
58:25 EC-GEO from PauknAir crashed in Melilla, killing all souls on board.
Absolutely love these old videos. Pure nostalgia. The variety too, sorely missed these days.
Totally, was a lot more fun spotting in those days
Fantastic video, you don’t realise just how much we’ve lost in 26 years. Caledonian TriStar absolutely beautiful, remember flying on that from Manchester to Palma, what memories.
Fully agree... sad!
You know what they say:"You don't know what you've got until it's gone!!"😢
26:07 That BAC 1-11 was quite something, but generally the variety of aircraft is insane, no comparison the the boring twinjet dominance nowadays.
100% agree

The noise, as much as the variety of aircraft, is the biggest difference. Spotting was so much more fun back then - not so long ago at all!

A little more interesting than todays spotting. So many nice aircrafts back then.
Glad just planes old videos is back on TH-cam
Thank you! Enjoy

Being British, Britannia planes are embedded in my head from being a child
Lovely condor 757!!! So many classics here. Hope one day to have such variety of aircrafts :(
I was a young teenager avgeek living in Mallorca then, I remember so much of this!! Thank you for sharing!!!! Watched every second!
Super amazed to see those two soviet jets (the ilyushin and yak), that really surprised me!
The good ol days, back when tri-jets,"Mad Dogs" and various turboprops ruled the earth!
Quite a few of these aircraft weren’t delivered until Spring/Summer of 1998, this is probably 1998 at the earliest.
Fantastic plane's the condor was super ,take me back to the 90s 😊
Love it. We can see unique planes from the past. They are boring now.
2:35 still flying as C-FKAJ. Great video!
What a great hour to watch. So many airlines and types have gone now. I can remember these operators from my early airplane spotting days. Having been on Mallorca in 2002 still a lot of them were there. Thanks for sharing.

2:15 was only delivery in 1998, the video is from 1997?
Seeing those colors and aircraft varieties from my past makes me sad about the 320/737 boredom we have today all over europe. Awesome footage.

Seeing that Hapg-Lloyd and the LTU liveries brought back so many childhood memories...
I love this channel
Thank you very much!
Min 26:07. Can someone tell me what plane is this one? Looks so particular, rare.
I think that is a British Aircraft Corporation BAC 1-11 :)
@@syksystransitagency thank you very much mate :)
British World BAC-111
That British Midland A321 G-MIDC is still active with Qantas Freight 😮
So much nostalgia. My first ever flight was on an Air 2000 757. Seeing it here nearly made me cry.
That's proper old school aircrafts. DC10 were still popular.
Memories from when I was growing up ❤
I have loved going back 26 years and seeing the beautiful liveries of many companies that have already disappeared that have remained in our memory, wonderful those years when the Internet was barely used and most of the current things that make this world today did not exist. madness, wonderful years that will never return....
this is what I remember with good memories in aviation.
Agreed!

Very possibly filmed in 1997-98
The Britannia 757 G-BYAG at 10:18. Was the aircraft involved in the 1999 Girona crash
great video!

Great throw back to the 90s. Sad to see some that have since crashed. Thr Britannia G-BYAG and the BA G-BNNL after it was flown by Adamair.
The McDonald’s MD-80 at 29:00, I love it.
So many 757’s Britannia and first choice air 2000. I went to palma in this year at the age of 9 so maybe could of been on that Britannia 757 from Gatwick
That white 757 @2:40got a bit of a last minute wobble on

The AirTours and the Air 2000 liveries are my favorite 😁👍
