Nice review. As you mentioned one key benefit to this type of bar is how the distance between the hoods and drops is "split." This means that regardless of where you set your bar height with any rise stem(or negative rise), the depth/travel from the hoods to the drops is essentially cut in half, compared to a normal bar, because the stem anchor point is between the hoods and drops, instead of at the hoods, like a non riser drop bar would be. The drop is "compact" will just say 100mm. That means (the 50mm rise version)the hoods are 50mm above the stem, and the drop is 50mm below. Put a normal compact 100mm drop bar on the same bike/stem and now the hoods are at the stem, and the drops are 100mm below, putting the drops twice as low. Yes, the compromise here with the riser bar design is the hoods are now 50mm higher than "normal." But, it makes using the drops much more comfortable, better grip, and braking control in technical situations. I have been using the Soma Condor 2's (same concept) for CX and before these, hardly ever rode the drops, now I ride the drops for at least half of the race, much more, secure control. Same when I go on off-road adventures with my CX bike. I just ordered the Redshifts, because they come even wider and taller, which I would prefer for technical riding and my tall body. th-cam.com/video/FWtOfSZ4Jeo/w-d-xo.html
I bought wide normal kitchen sink bars ( no front loop) but added top and bottom padded extras have ridden them last two years brilliant. These higher bars interesting
Well, it's certainly slicker than a riser stem and/or an accessory bar section if you're looking for upright and loaded down. I looked at the pricing and thought they would be carbon for that money, but apparently they're alloy. Certainly nice to have options but they'll probably remain back-of-mind unless the price comes down or I'm planning a significantly big enough backcountry ride to need redundant bar mounts. One advantage of this double-tube riser is front bag bracing and real estate, so I'm curious if Redshift will put out some dedicated stowage like they have for the Kitchen Sink.
Or you could just get a stem with a rise and save £ssss! I don't see the point, probably £200.00 when a stem or a steerer extension does the same? Nice vid though 👍
You're right of course but a 70mm rise stem is hard to find and both one of those and a steerer extender look awful. Plus I'm not sure a steerer extender on a carbon steerer is something I'd want or trust.
@@ukgravelco carbon steerer, I agree. I suffer from awful neck pain, and fitted a steerer extension tube, 50mm, cost £8.75. Does the job, been on my gravel bike for years. I just can't see the point in spending £150-£200 if that's the price, I'm guessing, on a bar that really only does exactly the same, as a cheap steerer extension. Guess it's down to personal preference and budget, but " snake oil" springs to mind😂
Great video mate. I have the kitchen sinks and these might be even better for me.
Cheers 👌

There's definitely a dedicated bag coming
I dont agree .Mezcals are excellent all round XC tyres on hardtail xc bikes..Perhaps they over inflated?
I think the kitchen Sink bars have a 25mm rise.
My Surly Truck Stop bars have 30mm which does the job for me.
Top shelf have 50 or 70mm, great that 30mm suits you, hopefully this extra rise will help those that need it 👍
Looks like a cool handlebar setup. Curious about the vest (gilet) you're wearing.
It's a very old DHB gilet from the now defunct Wiggle.co.uk
So much expensive ! In aliexpress is possibile order it?
If you want a dodgy fake potentially dangerous one then I guess you could look. I like my teeth too much to risk it though
Охренеть какой необычный руль!

You'll also get more compliance.
satori-up is bullet proof and you can adjust rise on the fly@@aAnd67
Yea this is not their best product. So expensive and easily achieved with a different stem....
