    You’re a fricking genius!!! I’m very new to sewing and quilting and I’m dreading making the quilt back….. you just gave me a whole different way to do it and not have to use crazy formulas or cutting and sewing long odd seams or whatever have you. I can make some extra blocks and continue to be a “non-conformist”. 😎😎😎😍😍😍😍😍

      @@ISeeStarsQuilting You’re an absolute doll. 😎. I follow a few channels and yours is the most inspiring of them all. This video blew open the doors for me as far as making backing goes…. No kidding. I saw this video and did a double take when you said “make the back go with the front (or use similar colors)”, I thought it was a stroke of genius. Seriously.
      I was starting to panic a bit about making the backing for quilts and projects, but I could make a “second quilt” in a way… like a make the back a “race quilt” or large patches or something fun like that, yeah it’s a little more work, but who cares really.
      You rock!! Keep these kinds of videos up! Very inspiring, even for this middle aged salty gay man. 😎😎😂😂❤️❤️

    I really like the comments about making the back of your quilt more interesting period And I agree with you always include a tag on the backside of your quilt. With information like the year it was made, who it's for name,of person receiving the quilt, and creativity by "me" the person making the quilt. Thank you for all these tips.❤

      That is pretty common when you're doing a LOT of quilts. It makes the margin for error or fabric not being positioned perfectly a lot less of a chance. If you decide to quilt it on your own or hand quilt it you could definitely work on some unique ideas!

    If I made a picture Quilt in the front ( bunnies, bears, bees) and a geometrical quilted backing how do I connect them in the middle? I know I bind them together around the edges but I am a bit puzzled how to quilt them together in the middle without ruining either side's existing quilted pattern.

    I like to make baby quilts two-sided-generally pastel (some kind of theme, often) on one side and B&W and bright colors for the other side. Lap quilts-might piece them. Bed size quilt: not a chance, 108” all the way!!! By the time I finish a 90-inch square quilt, I’m exhausted, so no piecing there for me!

    Can you use flannel as backing and then not use batting?

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can! It does make a thinner lighter quilt, but I've seen it done many times. You still want to make sure and quilt with about a 5" margin at the most (quilting lines no more than 5" apart) because the flannel will wash differently than your cotton quilting fabrics. So you don't want it to wear out as you wash it over the years or tear more. I've also seen people use flannel as the batting itself for a very nice warm quilt. Great question! 😘

      The backing of the quilt is similar to the front of the quilt. The same material -- the inside of a quilt, or the "batting" is a layer of cotton or poly-cotton material that is helpful with adding the fluff and weight to a quilt
