@@nikilragav yes. Solid wood will warp & separate at the joints after a number of years. Veneered furniture remains stable.

@@ChadVanryn 1/52" (.6mm) is most common, but veneers from 50 years ago seem to be slightly thicker.

So, for a floating desk (PC usage), would you suggest an IKEA countertop (like Carlby) vs solid wood?

@pogolas a laminate top would certainly be more durable than solid wood or veneer for a desk.
