The problem is that while this works it's just harder to pull off because it's harder to cover the multiple bases you need to pull this off. It just shows how efficient Terran comps are compared to the other races. Anytime they have efficient counters they get nerfed to the ground
It is 100% because of ghosts. Protoss players aren't adopting this playstyle because they want to, they are doing it because they have to. EMP deletes literally another comp, but zealot spam suffers the least.
I love Showtime. He's been at this for a long time, and while he is more often a bridesmaid than a bride, he still consistently takes maps off the best players in the world, and fights like hell for every loss he suffers. Also, screen name in pro SC2, IMO.
Thats kinda Maru's issue. He always plays the same so hes easily countered and the opponents just use that counter to get 70% of the map and annihilate him in battle of attrition of MMM + ghosts and siege tanks vs endless warp ins of cheap zealots or nonstop zergling bane. He never tries anything else apart from early widow mine drop that almost never do enough to justify them. SO, opponents just swarm him to death like Showtime and Serral have proven. He would need to completely outplay opponents because his strategy is not working.
It was so awesome fight. unfortunally Maru ran out money while still being unable to steal nortern resources for himself. In the end Showtime was able to afford keep fighting longer.
I kinda liked the +XXXX mineral and gas estimated mining/minute for each player rather than just the difference? The lack of any pre-splitting by Showtime against the tanks made this game a lot harder than it could have been for Showtime. A lot of those fights probably could have been won if he just spread the zealots before engaging to minimize splash damage on the way in.
Unless you mean splitting from multiple directions there wasn't enough surface area and charge almost instantly messes up any such split. He would have th stagger engage with a small group and then the fullbforce instantly after.
@@nfzeta128 Even just splitting some units off and isolating them at the front of the army to absorb the initial tank volleys with no splash damage would be enough. He also could have split some units off to come in from a different angle though. Sure, charge "messes up" the splitting, but only if the zealots start charging and close much of the distance before the tanks fire, and as long as the first tank volley happens with little-no splash damage, you're pretty much set as Protoss vs a high tank count. In contrast to fighting almost any other unit, where you want everything together and engaging at the same time, having some units out front to absorb the initial tank volley while you close the distance with the rest of the army completely changes the game vs tanks. Zerg and Terran can't do that like Protoss can because, aside from Ultras, their units don't have the HP and/or aren't fast enough. Protoss can do it with basically any unit, and Zealots/Stalkers/Adepts have blink/charge/shade to immediately close the gap before the Tanks can get their second volley off. Archons are probably the best units for the purpose of eating tank shots though.
