      Gloria is leaving a great legacy and Johannes did very well. She turned her live from party girl into a woman of substance and great common on sense, doing a lot of good! Her live is dedicated to God, a woman after my own heart!

      I recall reading Johannes was required to marry a woman related to him to prevent the introduction of commoners' genes into the family. I can't be sure that's accurate but royals and aristocrats do have their own, sometimes peculiar, rules of marriage and conduct. Gloria may have been recruited as a possible spouse, since she and the Prince are fourth cousins.

    Wow. What a story. And I’m sure 100% the word taxi comes from them. 400 years ago they invented post carriage in Europe. People jumped on the carriage.

      He did & his widow worked hard to pay them off . She studied business subjects to learn what to find .
      Agricultural land & woodlands or forests were kept . Depreciating assets were sold off .

    I don't care about their family wealth thats a different issue. But my God to stand up to Nazism and Hitler during his peak days , that's admirable. They certainly have CLASS!!!😊

      @@g.f.w.6402 My grandmother Gerda left (escaped) Germany (no...not a Jew) in 1936. Her parents gave her a one-way ticket to the US...they knew what was up...hated Hitler like most humble Berliners.
      She was one of the Germans that loved America...for obvious reasons. Not sure why many Germans don't like Americans....I can totally understand why they'd dislike the government (I do). peace

Letztens stand in "Der Welt" ein Artikel, in dem sich der Autor darüber amüsiert hatte, dass viele Amerikaner sich über die starken antiamerikanischen und antiwestlichen "Unterströmungen" in Deutschland wundern. Fakt ist einfach, dass sich die USA zweimal in Angelegenheiten eingemischt haben, die sie nichts angehen und die sie absolut nicht verstehen (bis heute nicht verstehen). Das Ergebnis war, dass aus einem lokalen Konflikt, bei dem die Europäer das ganz normale Armdrücken praktiziert hatten, plötzlich ein Krieg (Erster Weltkrieg) wurde, der im Zweiten Weltkrieg gemündet ist. Wussten Sie, dass die deutschen Städte durch anglo-amerikanische Luftangriffe bis heute katastrophal aussehen (moderne Architektur) und rund 1 Mio. deutsche Zivilisten ermordet wurde? Und dann wundern sich die Amerikaner über Antiamerikanismus in Deutschland? Ernsthaft? And I am even a nice German. My mentor was an American from Boston, who taught German for decades in the U.S. and I studied German-American history in Germany, Berkeley and Los Angeles. I studied the life of people like your grandmother Gerda.
