My husband asked me yesterday where my " hiking friend" was. I had to think for a bit and then i realized that he was used to me watching your videos in the mornings. Glad you have posted.
Glad you are back! Years ago on a family vacation my dad took what he thought was a shortcut from Colorado to Utah. it was a narrow dirt road with thousand foot drop offs on one side. The town we came out at was Moab, which gave us hope we would live. Moab is my favorite town in the US. Please take some of your spectacular views around there for your videos. I would love to see the area again.
Moab has gotten rather busy these last few post Covid years. Vans everywhere etc. I do plan to hotel it there though for a night and get episodes uploaded so I’ll see what I can do :)
Awesome Matt! Can’t wait to see you back on the trail. Me I’m going for my daily 5 mile walk here in Indialantic FL. Sundays is ice cream day! It’s just like your craving for Mexican food! 😂👍🏔️🥾
Matt's back!!! Happy you're slightly healed up dude! Love the ADT but still ridiculously more excited for the Yukon! You and Taters keep the inspiration going for the rest of us!
I am so glad you gave an update! I really wanted to message you and wish you a speedy return to trail! I miss my daily dose of your videos! I know it had to be killing you to be wanting to be on trail and feeling like crap! Looking forward to your return!!
Great to see you up and almost on the trail! Punctured ribs are no joke, so taking it easy and sensing the body was very sensible. Looking forward to Masochist in the Desert: the Sequel, as you charge on. Watch the footing and watch the feet! Hike On! Tortoise
Awesome news! Glad you are on the mend. I just got back from a week camping/hiking in southern Ohio, including 3 days on the Buckeye Trail as it goes through Pike Lake State Park.
Thanks for the update Matt, looking forward to seeing you back on the trail. Rib injuries suck, I separated my lower third section of ribs, and they're still separated. It's kind of funny to lift my shirt up and show people and watch they're reaction. lol Oh by the way it was 10 years ago and it will always be like that.
Good call not getting an expensive doctor visit. (I'm one.) Ribs are meant to be broken in minor injuries: shock absorbing, protect more important things underneath. They almost never cause serious problems, short of severe injuries like a high fall or a car accident. Even a small pneumothorax (unusual) associated with a rib fracture is treated conservatively.
Thanks for the update, Matt. It had been so long that I was expecting the worst. Glad all is OK, or at least semi-OK. Lunch hasn't been the same without your videos.
Just not a lot to say when I'm waiting around for things to improve. I briefly though I'd be back out after a week but that proved to be a bit too ambitious once I started trying to walk with a pack. Hopefully it'll be manageable now.
I was already impressed with the logistics you'd mapped out for the climate zone transitions (going from 100 degree days in KS to freezing at altitude in CO and then BACK to 90 degree plus days past Grand Junction)--but I could tell how concerned you were about the added water needs and the longer food carries in UT by the way they kept coming up in the episodes from central Colorado on. And rightfully so. You obviously know your body's limits better than any of us. The temps sound much more conducive to a crossing now. Looking forward to hearing about it.
"We could go in and do something to fix it but getting in there will cause more damage than just letting it heal. Don't do gymnastics until it's healed."
You and Taters would have time to fly into St. Louis to the Missouri Botanical Gardens and visit the museum which is doing a display on everything you need to know about CORN.
Hope you are healed up enough to traverse Utah . Looks like a lot of "heavy pack" sections , and i'm waiting for your nice video's of that . Go back to keeping it on !
Hmmm. What Watch Day is this…? I think the days and episodes are synched up? Day 171 watch. The Bishop provides update. Explains to us he hates modern medicine and doctors.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Safe return to the trail!

Glad you are doing better and getting back on the trail.
Wishing you the best and be safe out there.
Glad your heading back to trail. Hope your feet issues may resolve them selves. Hike towards San Francisco.
It will be great to have you back, good luck!

Good to see you are back. Hope you recover quickly. It is better to be safe than have something else happen.
Had been praying for your health to increase and healing. Glad to be hearing from you again
great news! you are back on trail!
Hey Matt! I was unaware you were injured, Been to FL to visit daughter in JAX, and handily was missed by 2 hurricanes. Heal up and walk on!
You so rarely hike pain free. I am thrilled to see your videos. But, as much as possible, take care of you.
Probably has something to do with the whole being in my 40s thing. Or just being Ok-ish at hiking at best :)
Did I see a dog with you? Glad you’re back.
Phew....glad all is well
Welcome back sir.
Thanks for the update. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Great news - keep on keepin' on
Welcome back to the trail.
Seeing this makes me happy.
Glad you're feeling better and getting back out there. Though it did give me time to finish watching your CDT videos.
yay!!! was just talking to my girlfriend about you over breakfast this morning.
Yea! Glad to hear your getting back out!
(Slacker...get back on it! ;) )
Glad you’re back!!
It is so darn selfish of you to not backpack a Starlink dish so that you can give us video updates every day :(

Yeah buddy! UT should be a pretty hike.
HE'S BAAAACCCKKK!!!!!!
Let’s go!
You should do "bloopers" episodes. Kidding.
Plantar fasciitis?
No, had that before and it’s a really distinct thing. Right foot is metatarsalgia and left is outer heel pain
@@sheilamarini1113 that was my question, I didn't ask, you may stretch your heal cord just in case.

Your problem can be cured with a creme in 7 days lol.
