I went to this school for 4 months,I dropped out. That was in the early 80's. I couldn't wait to go there, and then I couldn't wait to leave. The video is very nice and was everything I expected PW to be. I was disappointed when I found it to be a mess. Gang tags and fights everyday. Even though I dropped out and we moved, I still graduated on time and ahead of my class, no thanks to Proviso West. The best thing I ever did was to get away from there.4 years, did it in 3 1/2.It is a very nice video and a good tribute to what PW was in the past, not the future.

Thanks for the comments. PW was one of the best for preparing for the future. Looking back they were great times. Sorry it had changed when you were there but it was the result of the cultural revolution. I moved away shortly after college but still enjoy a visit to Hillside and Bellwood remembering those happy days.

Good song and video, thank you. I attended PWHS from 1961-1965. Building C was built while I was there. Many things have changed over time and this "baby boomer" school was an island of segregation. PEHS was primarily African American during those years. I was ignorant of segregation and racism at the time, but I have changed. I miss my HS friends and have attended many reunions. PWHS provided a foundation for a great career, lifelong learning at some excellent higher education institutions, and I will never forget it. If you don't keep learning, you just start dying.

Everything you said is so true. I was there in the 70s and even with Building C, there was not enough room. There were classes of 70 plus in the basements. But Proviso West offered a great well, rounded education that is sadly missing in many areas today. Most of the teachers were dedicated and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Most of all Proviso West gave us the background on how to learn and conduct ourselves for future careers. I moved away a long time ago but every decade or so, I drive by the old school just for the memories.

Loved PWHS. I wouldn't change my experiences for anything in the world. C/O '89.

By the looks of your misspelled words it doesn't say a whole lot about the education that school gave you. Go back to school and pay attention this time !
