    Not knowing the blues tradition, many today look at this as just weird and too much noodling. I guess today, if you can't dance to or rap to it, it's not music, but these guys were at the top of their class in the blues genre. I saw both Johnny and Edgar at separate venues. Edgar is the more rock-oriented brother, but they both are amazing talents. If you haven't done the song already, a classic by Edgar is Frankenstein. Do the live version with Rick Derringer (saw him in concert too). It will blow you away.

    I never saw Edgar, but I did see Johnny and his band live in Denver in 1970. Stadium show. He was the opener for CCR. It was at night, and he wore black, and it’s like all you could see was this long ash blond hair swirling around. It was actually kinda mesmerizing. Oh yeah, good music too! ✌️😁

    Never seen Edgar in concert , but I did see Johnny Winter in concert three times , the last time was about two weeks before he passed away , and at 70 years old , his fingers could still move and jam !! But , that's all he did his whole life ! Should check out Johnny Winter at Rockpalest , if possible , doing either MISSISSIPPI BLUES , or DIVIN DUCK !!! You will enjoy it !!! I've been a Johnny Winter fan for fourty plus years , seen the Rockpalest concert dozens of times and I still love every minute !!!

      My father took me to watch Johnny when I was 18. 13 yrs ago. They had to walk him out on stage and sit him in his stool. He couldn't sing because his voice was fucked that night. He couldn't walk. He ripped for an hour straight.
      Johnny said "this is a song by an old friend, its called Red House"
      Was a small venue and I was 10 ft away. Will be something I'll never forget.

      @@thejoelrooganexplosion2400I got to see him around the same time. He was in pretty rough shape but, damn he could still play! James Montgomery handled the vocals. I almost got to meet Johnny after the show but he had to go rest after seeing just a few people. So I talked to James instead, because he was a friend of my sister. In fact, when she was in hospice, he came to visit her. She introduced me to Johnny and Edgar's music when I was 9.😊

    • @Ozarkprepper643
      @Ozarkprepper643 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bocephus1911 thanks.
      I'm sure most would just think it was the keyboard. It's my understanding he was the first to strap one on. ( keyboard)
      I've always felt the saxophone was one of the more Soulful instruments. And when Edgar plays it you can hear the ease in which he conveys his emotion.
      I wouldn't doubt saxophone's are his favorite. And what one enjoy the most, one tend to do the best.

    It has been said in a quote (that apparently has been used in association with several artists) that when Jimi Hendrix was asked "What does it feel like to be the greatest guitar player in the world" he said "I don't know why don't you ask Johnny Winter?" The bass player went on to play with Stevie Ray Vaughan Double Trouble.

    YES, I’m one of those people who believes in watching rock live, because that’s the spirit of rock….the energy between artist snd audience. Other genres not so much. But rock, metal, definitely. You MIGHT lose some of the perfection of the record, but if it’s a good band (which, come on, all the bands you’re reacting to are good bands!) the charisma and improv and energy, to keep, more than make up for anything potentially lost in accuracy.
    I know others disagree.
    More live of everything…..and you still have so much more live available to you of the great legacy bands
