I caught a comeng train from Glenferrie station on the Flinders street route to school back in 2017.

It's actually not as rare as you all may think. I have seen quite a few Comeng sets running Glen Waverley and other Burnley group services over the last few months. There will soon be an increase in sightings as more Comengs are redeployed to this group once again.

It’s probably a mistake. This happened to me on my way to the MCG heading to Glen Waverley but actually was heading to Frankston. That was. Very weird.

Amazing catch!! I think there is an occasional comeng on burnley group as xtraps can run on cross city lines Frankston, Werribee and Williamstown.

Iain Hughes allmost all xtraps running the frank stone and Werribee Williamstown line are new ones but the older ones that are normally on the burly and Clifton hill line seem to swap around a bit but I have seen a lot of xtrapolis services on the Frankston line so i guess now if some xtraps break down metro don't have backups and have to run the occasional comenge on the burnly group lines.

Melbourne trains guy thanks for the additional information on xtraps. If a comeng needs to be used is there a preference that it is on the burnley group only?

Well I doubt any X'Trap would break down and even if some do there are heaps of the sets to take over their place in service on the Burnley or Clifton Hill group. But still I'd prefer the Comengs to be transferred back to the Burnley group line when heaps more X'Traps get up on the Frankston, Werribee and Williamstown lines.

Harish's Metro and Suburban yes there lying all around Melbourne but there's still more comenges and sometimes it's easier to take them over.

captinchris YT no, you get Siemens, comengs and if you are on the Pakenham or Sunbury you will get hcmt’s the eastern lines and north east never get a comeng
