Thanks, Lisa! The easy rinse aspect of Waterman Absolute Brown will be missed, but these are some good alternatives. Sailor Ohio is my favorite of these. I might have to go back to Waterman Intense Black for my vintage pens.
How can it be that I never heard of Waterman "Absolute Brown"? And now that I know it, it is too late... But alas... my favourite browns are MB "Toffee Brown" and GvFC "Cognac Brown" anyway. Thanks, Lisa, for showing this comparison.
Love these series please also make comparison of other shades, not necessarily because they are going extinct ... eg Purples of waterman; pelikan 4001; sheaffer skrip; etc
Did waterman give any reason for this? I wouldn’t trust any other ink brand in a vintage pen outside of waterman. And it’s always nice to have a good brown in the mix. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Absolute Brown once called Marron Brown? That would explain why it leans red in some sampling. I really hope they’re just rebranding or making a new brown, that collection feels a little incomplete without a brown. As we learned with Lamy Dark Lilac, some red dyes are no longer allowed in the EU, so maybe they couldn’t make the color any, ore. 🤷🏻♂️
Oh dear. Absolute Brown was one of my favorites.

I have an unopened bottle of Absolute Brown to use after I finish Herbin Lie de The.

Huh? I gave away my bottle of 'Absolute Brown' because I don't like the pink tone. All the options you showed look better to me.

Has the ink only been discontinued in the US? I can still see it listed on their French and British websites.
Absolute sadness... 😢😠 Maybe Diamine Rustic Brown could be a nice replacement 🤔
