    James- Please continue videos on these affordable fountain pens. Every other TH-cam FP reviewer focuses on those real-high-end 3-figure models like Visconti, high-end Japanese, MBs.
    This is the true market....affordable pens. Keep up the excellent work.

    Simple and elegant design that is almost the same for 40+ years for the Waterman affordable fountain pen.
    I bought my first Waterman when I was a student, it was everlasting love.

    I love my Waterman Allures. My daily driver is a black one filled with Diamine Woodland Green and it just makes me want to write. I also have a red one and a blue one. They're just so classy yet understated, and I love the way they write and also draw. I didn't sketch until I started using an Allure. It just perfectly fits me.

      My first 2 fountain pens. Silver and black. I messed up my nib on the silver. Not knowing how to use it, going to change the nib. It bleeds because I bent my nibs plus I'm a lefty. I'm going to make one my daily writer. But I sketch and color with my noodle flex and kaweco. I need to turn my lamy or waterman into journal pens

    The Allure was my first fountain pen, and the only pen in stock at my local office supply store. My collection has grown, but I keep coming back to the Allure. It is a fine daily writer.

    I love the sound of that feedback. The tines are aligned but sanded to ~4000-6000 grit vs 8,000 or 12,000 of ultra smooth nibs. Scratchy is misaligned times. A little feedback helps control the pen and i find it necessary on really smooth paper. Plus that amazing sound 😌

    Yes! I am a fan of Waterman pens because they have affordable versions that write just as well as their pricier pens! I bought two because I couldn't decide which color I liked best, and at that price point, why not? I really like the long grip section. Would be a great intro level pen, except that you have to purchase a Waterman converter and/or Waterman cartridges.

    • @Jianemba
      @Jianemba ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I am in the same boat. I will just refill the cartridges

    Many thanks for another really nice video. Your pen is identical to mine, and I have to say I do really like writing with this pen, great value for money and the added bonus of being able to use a spare standard international converter makes it even more useful.

    I ordered a TWSBI Eco T after seeing pen videos on TH-cam, probably including yours.
    The TWSBI was delayed in shipping while it toured North America in large brown limousines, so in the nonce I bought a Waterman Allure at an office store. It's just like yours, except mine is black.
    It writes superbly. I got a Waterman cartridge converter so I could use bottled ink. If it were the only pen I had I wouldn't be without the means of expression. Highly recommendable, even if delivered in bubble pack.

    I think I may be falling down the fountain pen and writing by hand rabbit hole. I just bought an Allure. Mine has a stainless steel body. I've only had it a couple of days, but I like it so far.

    Another nice and useful review, James. I own a Graduate which I love. As you said about the Allure, I perceive a subtle line variation with its nib. I bought a Parker Vector XL recently. I haven’t compared it to the Graduate side by side, but I think the new generation Vector is also a reincarnation of the Graduate.

    I have a black one of these with a fine nib. The metal body and paint is very scratch resistant. I have a red on order. In Australia the converter has to be bought separately.

    I just got my yellow Allure. First impressions: dry pen, of all my fine pens this Allure has the most feedback, but I suppose that could be due to poor lubrication. With a gift box around 40 EUR, which is not exactly cheap but otherwise a nice pen. Threading on the section could be tighter, gives a cheap feeling as well as the clip.

    • @marcgasper8226

      Update: after a few cartridges the ink-flow became more or less adequate/normal. Still a pen with considerable feedback.

    Thank you for this video! I am from France and here Waterman advertises their pens by stating they are made in France. I found it quite surprising that yours is made in China. But then I realized that this particular colour is not sold in France. Maybe these are related facts ;-)
    Anyway, what if I want a M nib? It seems to me that the only nib size available is F. Am I wrong?

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve only seen fine for the Allure. It seems that it depends on what market you are in, Europe gets the French Allure. I noticed the Allure is about to be available in a deluxe model made in France with a stainless, engraved cap.

  • @kauaiphotography
    @kauaiphotography 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Aloha James! I have been eyeing getting this pen, but in medium nib as I find the Waterman Graduate, which I own was only available in fine. I was really hoping you had a medium nib for this review! I find the Graduate with a fine to be bit too fine - more like a Japanese fine or maybe it's just my pen? I don't mind a fine nib, as long as it's not too fine (like a Platinum #3776 SF?) Any thoughts? Do you see a difference? Mahalo, Thomas

    Is it safe to buy from Amazon in india? Because there are many reviews relating that the waterman pen which they have bought is fake... or a copy...
    Waterman Expert SS CT ball pen vs. Waterman hemisphere SS ct ballpoint pen --- which is better? Please reply sir...❤
    should I buy a ballpoint pen or a Fountain pen for first time of Waterman? 😅

    I just bought the stainless steel finish Allure at my local Office Depot for $30 and mine was made in france. Has france stamped on the cap along with all over the packaging and has the 2year warranty. The packaging is pretty much the same except where it shows the image or the nib on your package mine says “Fabrique en France”. Is it possible that the other colors/finishes are all made in china? After looking at allure reviews on amazon ive seen a lot about the pen skipping. However mine seems to work perfectly. Is it possible that the Allure’s on amazon are not original waterman’s? I bought the pen 1/4/2024.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it does depend on the finish. They also recently committed to making more of their pens France.
      I don't think the Amazon pens would be copies, it's not a pen that tends to be counterfeited. I wonder how many of those just needed a good cleaning/flush?

      @@JG3Reviews My understanding is that the Allure Deluxe is made in France, and the basic Allure is made in China. Of course, I am wrong about something at least once a year. 😆 If you happen to see this comment, James (or anyone else), in your opinion, how does the Faber Castell Hexo compare in performance to the Allure? At this time, the grey Hexo is still available with a fine nib on Amazon for only about 14 bucks.

    The Allure does not benefit from the internet buzz as the Pilot Metropolitan but, in my humble opinion, it outperforms the latter. It is a much better choice for people who want to get started with fountain pens, without spending too much money and still get a quality product. It is more ergonomic. It has a grip section for a normal hand, not like the Metropolitan which is too thin.

    • @martinlebl631
      @martinlebl631 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Metro is fine for people with small hands, and you get a Pilot nib. Nice to have something longer for people with bigger hands. Or start them real cheap with Preppy or Varsity for a really low cost option.

      As a person who wants to get value for their money, the metropolitan is the better choice for 2 simple reasons: comes with a converter & is mostly metal. At this price this is an amazing deal, something that doesnt make me regret spending my money.
