Fun fact: super mario land is actually the first super mario game to introduce a new flower power up, the superball flower replace the classic fire one. So what does it do ? Well it bounces around Killing enemies and only one can be on screen and that's it. It did reappeared in super mario maker 2 as a unlockable power up for the smb1 style only.
Technically, the tulip design for the fire flower as a power up, was in another game besides Super Mario World. It was also that design in Super Mario Land 2: The 6 Golden Coins.
Personally, I think the Ice and Boomerang flowers are the best flowers in my opinion, the ice power is great for freezing annoying enemies or DISSOLVE enemies like Podoboos and the boomerangs are also great for hitting annoying enemies from afar... but I love the other flowers to...

its amazing how you dont realize that fire flowers and other final stage power ups had to advance you pass the super mushroom stage in order for the power up saving mechanic to work at all. like you realize if they didnt either getting hit would have to make you go back just to super mushroom (which you also seem to hate) or else the power up saving might as well turn them all into just super mushrooms
You forgot to mention the fact that while Fire Mario can shoot only two fireballs at a time, in Super Mario Galaxy, Fire Mario can shoot the fireballs like crazy

did you ´had the pirhana plants, the bat enemies in Mario or....those flying Shy guy things (Sniffit?, snifty?), don'T remember the name but I think about Mario 64 in the metal cap stage.

The rocket flower hasn't had any sequels, so it doesn't have any evolution, unlike the boomerang flower, ice flower and so on. They ALL appeared in multiple games, not one.

Yknow doging enemies in 3d games is super easy but the obstacles and camra angles make the game way harder
