Siegfried Dying to satisfy people's wish so casually without any disregard for his own and loved ones wellbeing is so frustrating(And weirdly Emiya coded), like Siegfried my dude, my guy, my Dragon Killer you had a WIFE waiting for your ass at the time
Our brown haired boy here is a Homunculus. He's basically like Illya from UBW, but worse since he's not an Einzbern. Lemme explain. Homunculi are basically artificial humans given Magic Circuits artificially from birth, creation, or whatever you wanna call it. These Circuits, typically, are meant to be of slightly higher quality than what your average modern day Magus has. They're no Rin, but they're pretty good for what basically amounts to Magical Androids. The trade off is that... Well, they don't live long. A normal human being lives an average of what, 60 to 80 years? A normal homonculus will MAYBE live about 5 years, to put that into perspective. The Einzbern Family is special in that they've been working with Homonculus Magecraft since before the Holy Grail Wars even started. Hell, they're so specialized that there are no natural born Humans in the family anymore. Illya was the first in centuries, but even then she was still Half Homunculus, being Irisviel and Kiritsugu's daughter. What does this specialty get them? Well, for one, they're able to make Homunculi that are more human, able to feel a wider array of emotions, understand the world better, etcetera. This basically means they don't produce nearly as many "failures" as we see the Yggdilmillenia family do here. They also produce Homunculi that are stronger, but have longer lifespans instead of them being shorter. That said, it's not much. We never really get a concrete answer on how long Irisviel and Illya would have lived if not for being caught in their respective Grail Wars, but if I had to guess... Iris would have lived between 10 to 12 years, and she had already been alive for 9 or 10 of those years by the time the War started. Illya, being half human, probably would've capped at a much higher lifespan(respectively anyway) initially due to being Half Human, clocking at maybe 25 to 30 years. However the Einzberns modified her heavily in preparation for the 5th War, so that cut her lifespan down to 19 to 20 years. She was already 18 by the time she met Shirou. So yeah. Currently we've yet to see any homonculus in this franchise get a happy ending. So pray for our boy. 😂
I would argue both Illyaverse Irisviel and [minor spoiler for Apocrypha] Tool (even in multiple timelines as FGO shows us through Goredolf) get a kind of happy ending.
Black servants Saber - Siegfried Killed a dragon, bathed in blood and now is basically invincible. Also got a strong dragon slaying sword. Lancer - vlad the impaler King of Romania, likes to impale people. Gets a strength boost from being in his home country. Archer - Chiron Teacher of heroes like Heracles (who accidentally killed him with hydra poison), Jason and a certain carrot boy. Wants immortality back. Only servant of black side capable of hurting Achilles (except the heel where everyone can hurt him) Assassin - Hasn’t been met yet Caster - Avicebron Gollum master. Walks on stilts. Rider - astolfo One of the paladins of charlemagne. Left his sanity on the moon. Dressed up as a girl to calm down another paladin who stripped naked and rampaged around after being rejected. Both paladins came to like dressing like that (or not dressing at all in Roland’s cases) leading to crossdressing astolfo. All his nps are things he borrowed/stole from others during his life. Berserker - Frankenstein Fate’s version of Frankenstein decided to build eve first and birth Adam from her rather than the other way around like in the original. Likes flowers. Dislikes wasting electricity.
Red servants Saber - Mordred Clone baby created from genes Morgan stole from her sister. These genes could have been stolen through steeling blood or saliva etc or Merlin gives artoria a dick and Morgan performs a little nonconsensual incest. Has both daddy and mommy problems but at least she has a cool sword. Lancer - Karna Indian Demi god. Son of the sun god. Rival of Arjuna. Hero of charity. Has armour that reduces all damage to 90%. The strongest in the war. Archer - Atalanta Greek huntress abandoned at birth for being female. Only female member of the argonauts (at least in the original myth. Fate likes to gender swap). First person to land a hit on the Caledonian boar. Got turned into a lion by Artemis after breaking the virginity rules. Caster - Shakespeare Needs no introduction Assassin - Semiramis Ancient queen. First poisoner in history (poisoned her husband to become the true ruler). Husband built the hanging gardens of Babylon (I think). Rider - Achilles Immune to all damage that is not divine everywhere but his heel. Looks like a carrot. Second strongest in the war. Berserker - Spartacus Gladiator who lead a rebellion against Rome. Did well but ultimately failed. Can speak but can’t hold a conversation. Rebels against gravity.
So Karna(lancer of red and dude who fought ruler) is the strongest servant in the war. There is rider of red(Achilles) who’s often stated to be Karna’s equal however. Of course both are op and Karna even has a statement in one of the games saying he’s equal to Gil in power, although both were weakened at the time and had unique circumstances. Also Chiron(archer of black) and Karna are the only two servants in the entire war who can hurt Achilles. So if there was no story in Apocrypha, like if it was a normal greater grail war and there was no plot or anything like that then the Red Faction would win. All they’d have to do would just get Karna to fight Chiron and then the black faction would literally have zero chance of winning unless Achilles or Karna switched sides. Every ruler servant with the exception of Ruler Gilgamesh wouldn’t be able to win in a fight against Karna or Achilles and even if a ruler were to use command spells they’d still have a high chance of losing. Also fun fact Achilles is the fastest heroic spirit, not just in the war but in general. There are no servants that can match Achilles’s speed. Then there’s Siegfried who is a match for the knight of the round table Mordred. It took a certain servant 2 lesser grails in one singularity in FGO(during the lostbelts) in order to match his power in combat. The guy is so great he even has a chance at winning in a fight against Artoria although it is mostly because he has an advantage against those with dragon traits and Artoria has a dragon core. Mordred is also op but more so in raw “I’m going to hit you til you stop moving” kinda way, while Siegfried can tank most things and then hit you hard. Also there’s 3 almost invincible servants in the war. Karna has a constantly active defense np that makes all damage he takes go down to 10% of what it normally does. Unfortunately it’s only on the outside of his body. Siegfried’s defense np similarly makes him take almost zero damage from all attacks that aren’t at a certain rank. Of course he has a weak point is his back where the defense doesn’t apply. Achilles invincibility keeps anyone that’s not divine from hurting him. You need to be related by blood to the gods or have a weapon made by gods in order to hurt him. His heal is another option for non divine people but his speed makes it so nobody can really hit him there unless they catch him off guard, most servants that could hit him there in combat are divine so they wouldn’t need to bother anyway. Achilles is the second greatest Greek servant in Fate, only second to Heracles. Even if every servant on the black faction except for Chiron were to use their noble phantasms on Achilles they would still do zero damage unless he let them hit his heal. Also shoutout to Atalanta the greatest mortal hunter in Greek mythology. Also Vlad is getting a massive buff from his homeland. Most servants get massive buffs when summoned where they were in life. Achilles for example would get a set of armor that makes him almost invincible even to divine beings. Cu Chulainn would get a fortress np. And every servant when summoned in their homeland gets some small buffs to their abilities.
Oh and one more thing. Astolfo while he has the most unfortunate match ups in Apocrypha is a strong servant. Think of the Paladins of Charlemagne as the newer versions of the Knights of the Round Table. While they may not measure up to the knights of the round they’re easily top servants, it just so happens that Astolfo was summoned in a war full of the greatest servants.
Though one has to add that Vlad's Fame boost in Romania is likely proportionally even higher compared to Cu or the Greeks, and him being summoned in Romania makes it also much more likely to be summoned in his "leader aspect" that we see in Apocrypha, compared to other regions where warrior or vampire (like the Berserker Vland III in FGO with permanently low-ley activation of Legend of Dracula) would get a stronger influence.
karna and Achilles are equals in general super karna is obviously stronger and yeah that ccc convo with karna does make it seem like that but no Gilgamesh is league above both of them but I see a lot of people saying plot armor and all but do y'all realise it's the entire point? like it's literally called FATE yk anything that happened had a meaning. There are servants faster than Achilles Albion is one of them but in general on foot he would be the fastest but not in a broader sense of speed. Yeah Siegfried is op but mordred not so much the only thing that even keeps her around a B or C rank servant is because of her nature and mana burst.
Without spoiling why I will say that a fight between Seigfred and Karna would legitimately take days because of there abilities. Granted that's only if things play out the right way which rarely happens in Fate.
💡Today's Question of the Day💡 "Which servant reveal from Apocrypha surprised you the most?" Feel free to leave your thoughts in a reply under this post!
to put in perspective on how strong Karna is, he is one of the few standard Servant that has a 50/50 chance of winning against Gilgamesh who is going all out, the downside to Karna as Servant is that he consume ALOT of mana when he start rolling with his nuke spam.
@DeadApostleAncestor10 A reminder. his armours true name release momentarily tanked the second strongest NP in all of fate bar none(second only to ars almadel), the divine version of mahapralya, which obliterates the entirety of a lostbelt from existence. I am MORE than certain that it could deny Ea outright, which doesn't approach that level of sheer destructive power (mostly because godjuna is bullshit due to being a full on divine incarnation as opposed to a normal servant in that case.)
