On my BMW Z4 M40i i went from 255/35/19 front with 275/35/19 rear to 275/35/19 F and 295/35/19 rear. The new tyres are 7mm taller in the side wall than old which results in a smother ride. The speedo is slightly off but this can be calibrated on the move using the cars inbuilt gps. I went from Michelin Pilot Super Sport to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. This is on new wheels which are 1/2” wider than the old 9/10” I also fitted Eibach springs and had a fast road alignment. The car looks great, handles better, has more traction and is more comfortable than before. Win win win.
I had planned to also change my rears to Michelins too, used PS 3's in the past and the wet grip is phenominal, I didn't realise you could use the 305 from the 295, THANK !YOU and to prove it also, what a guy!!
Great video, I'm also running Pirelli P Zeros on my F-Type from when I bought it and have noticed the grip is not great. Would be useful to have a recommended size to choose written down for the front as well as the back.
Having changed the rear tyres to a different size will change the rolling radius which in turn could damage the 4 wheel drive system and cost thousands of pounds in repairs!.😢
Just bought a brand new 2023 P450 RWD this past weekend. I did see at the dealership they had the 2023/2024 R which had the 305/30/20. MIne have the 295/30/20. I believe they all come standard with the Pirelli P Zeros. I have not driven the car that much yet to be able to know a difference but I have read other reviewers say that the Michelin are better. I am in California so not much rain out here.
Now before everybody starts bashing against Pirelli some things need to be cleared out. The tire mounted on his F-Type is the over 10 year old previous P Zero generation (release in 2007 if I'm correct). Obviously keeping that in mind the tire needed a major overhaul for a new gen and that would be the P Zero PZ4 which is a much newer tire and also comes in many different variations. (tyre reviews best UHP for the dry only was the P Zero PZ4) People tend to think about the P Zero as just one tire, but there are 30 different variants including specifications making each one unique. Newer F-Type models usually come with the newer PZ4, a far superior tire. Now the Michelin PS4s is a great tire, one of the best since over 5 years and still going on. Out of the performance tires it has an overall superb performance compared with a long thread life. However, not sure if I missed it, but the PS4s comes in 295/30 R20 dimension? Not sure why you would have gone for 305, the 10mm difference is almost non noticeable. Sizing up might come with some problems, for example: My car has 245/35 R20 & 275/30 R20 tires. If I wanted to upsize to 21s I would need to go for 295/25 and 255/30 because no tires available in other sizes. Keep in mind your speedo shows less because the wheel diameter would now become larger. But mostly as shown 10mm won't make a difference Also if you mess around with the front/rear axle ratio it could start to fool your abs, because the two axles spin at a very different time, tricking the system when braking. Now for 305 rear I would recommend upsizing to 265 front to keep that ratio almost the same. However now this small change shouldn't be a big deal
Lol. My F type R is also currently sitting with Pilot sport 4S on back and P zero’s on Front. And it also bugs me to no end. Too much life left on fronts. Although I put the 295 size back on. I like the look of your 305’ much better. Still a foot of snow here though. Cheers!
Love the channel and videos! Sorry if I missed this, but do you have adapters/spacers on your F-Type? The fitment looks like you might? I have a 2015 wit the same wheels and and debating adding 17mm all around (smallest width that does not require hub thread modification)...
It’s crazy how much of a difference there can be between those 2 tires, but everyone out there seems to be saying the same thing, so it must be true. Makes me wonder if I should just change them out when new if I end up getting a new F-type….Try and sell the original tires when basically new while they are in theory worth something…Or are they worth anything?1? lol…Good video
Don' t you now have a two different "axle" speeds though, if it was a proper permanent 4x4 in an off-roader it'd be driving the centre diff mad. I'm not scaremongering just "thinking out loud ", love the channel 👍👍
@@MrGB_UK Yes the rolling circumference should be matched back and front for a four-wheel-drive as you have put a bigger rolling circumference tyres on the back to the front it will wind up your transfer box.
When you put the wrong tyres on did you put that illegal number plate on wrong as well ?
It's important to note that the second number (30) is a percentage of the first number (width).
Awesome video re your explanation and experience in upgrading your tires!
Will certainly help us F-Type owners make that very important decision.

255/35 R20 & 295/30 R20 ofc
Pirelli are bad winter and summer tires . They are official jaguar tires.

Hi, I have a V6 S AWD With 20 inch wheels and 295 Pirelli’s. Has anyone tried or know if a 315 Michelin tire would be okay?

I have new p zero fitted, they are still crap.

@@v12-s65 I don't need to. It's my opinion. Anyone that says otherwise is a shiller.
Awesome, great info on the tires. Very much interested in the 4S Michelin tires. So 305 on the rears what size for the fronts?
Most people go with 265/35 20. They are the same size tires found on the SVR.
Thank you so much

Argh! Bought replacement rear tyres a couple of months back, bought the Michelins too but got 295’s. Oh well…
Where did you purchase the Tyres, looking for some for my F-Type but struggling to get them in that size.
I’ve stopped a reply to your email, with a lot of info. Quick detail for here, Asda 🤯 Good luck with the hunt and thanks for the comment
So are you upgrading the width of the fronts?
What size of tires did you put on the front that matched the back?
Spedo vs GPS were different before too

I did 20mm on my 2016 R on all 4 and it’s so much better looking & improved cornering.
Haha love the ending 😆

I made a comment about that, the difference should be negligible

I have an SVR with 315's in the rear. Best upgrade since i'm also FBO & LOWERED. And it is so true, P-Zero's are TRASH. 👎
Can you tell me if these are fitted to the j10.5 rims?
What's your insurance company's view of this change? Any issue?
As it’s a standard factory option, no issues

Continental sport contact 7 are better tires from what i have heard.
Should of got a SVR lol
30% of 305
