I sought the Lord and he delivered me from ALL my fears!! One of my favorite pslams. However, the gospel of peace through Jesus provides the full blessing of forgiveness of sins!!

    Love this, great message,
I have a question for you Kyle, how do you reconcile the discipline of God? The Bible says He disciplines the son He loves. I don’t have any fear regarding my salvation I’m concrete in that. But the thing I fear is His discipline.. I tend to get perfectionist because of this fear. Probably because I feel I’ve seen His discipline in my life, and yes, when I come out the other side of the suffering whatever form it comes in, I always feel something was transformed in me, for the good, and my relationship with God goes into closer more satisfying levels.
My fear is more the type of fear you would feel about your Father’s discipline.
I understand the grace and love of God. But I’m wondering your thoughts on the discipline of God?
Thank you for all you do! Blessings! ❤

Great question, Tammy! The translation of the Greek word “paideuo” to discipline often makes us think of the “discipline” in this verse (Hebrews 12:6) the way we’ve experienced it. Maybe as condemnation or punishment or humiliation. That’s our experience with “discipline,” but it’s not what the author meant here. The word is better described as training or mentoring. Accordingly, the Holy Spirit does make us aware of things that might harm us. He offers course correction advice and such. But that’s not punishment or rejection, that’s love.
