Hi Penny Horton, some varieties of begonias can take up to a month to germinate. You have them at the right temperature. The seeds need light to germinate so can be scattered on damp compost and pressed in or cover with a thin coating of gritty sand. Putting some cling film over the seed tray can stop them from drying out too quickly. When they need watering it’s best to use a mist spray to dampen them. How long ago did you sow them? You have a great presenting presence and if your production quality was better, better audio, better cameras and maybe two angles, you could really create a longform television quality series without breaking your bank

I’m a bit of a recluse so they thought the internet would be a good way to get my enthusiasm for all that grows out there and maybe increase sales a bit. I’m still taken back by all the positive comments I get. Yes, the production quality is something to address, I am making steps in that direction, bought a microphone last week but my phone is so ancient it doesn’t work!! Just looking through my French seed catalogue - can’t get anything useful in the shops here - and have found a couple of mixes but just wanted to check that they are “Viola Cornuta”. Does that sound right to you? The only others are actual Pansies. By the way, do you grow pasties from seed in the same way? Many thanks and all the best from France 💐

Google Thompson and Morgan, they are UK based, not sure if they post to France but worth a try. Viola cornuta are fine, also pansies, sow them now or in autumn for winter flowers. Ordered a second pack of violas to start. Started original pack of seeds indoors and two weeks ago and have kept them in the dark with a dish cloth folded in half with a thick magazine over them. No sprouts yet. Pansies I’ve grown at the same time at the same time and a say or two after doing well. Anything wrong???!?
Hi The Haute Nurse Coco, you are doing nothing wrong, sometimes seeds just don’t work! Viola can take up to 3 weeks to germinate so I’d give them another couple of weeks before giving up on them. But if you have them in the dark and they are at 18-21C/65-70F then you are doing everything you can. It’s not you, it’s the seeds so don’t blame yourself. Nature can be so unpredictable. The main thing is persistent, try some more seeds. All the very best of luck Robbie 🌻🌸
