Excellent version of a timeless classic. Croce didn't write this, but man, he played the hell out of it. And through dark times and light, this song has never failed to lift my spirits and point me forward, knowing I got a name. Thanks so very much for a virtuoso performance. A great tribute to Jim and his partner Maury, both of whom left rich legacies in lives far too short.
My dad loved music, definitely Jim..❤️ my dad played guitar in a high school band, he taught me a ton about music, and God rest his soul, because it lives in me, and in his grandchildren. My eldest daughter teaches music, and all are completely in perfect pitch 👍Miss you dad.❤️😉
I just found out Larry entered "Rock-N-Roll Heaven" about 2 years ago. RIP Buddy. You deserve a nice Eulogy too for all the heart and soul music you put out on TH-cam and StreetJelly over the years.
Jim Croce was only 30 years old when he and Maury Muelheisen (only 24 years old) died in that horrific plane crash upon take-off at night time in Louisiana in 1973, they had just missed seeing "I got a name" go to the top of the charts later that same year,.very sad indeed.
Hearing Croce always takes me back to my youth, when everything was fun and games. Hearing you perform it makes me feel sorry for the people not aware of how special this music is. Outstanding cover of one of the most treasured, singer-songwriters.
Considering Jim dies not too long after releasing this iconic song, I will forever consider the ending to this song one of the greatest and saddest ever... I cry every time I hear it... 1973 was a few years before I was even born, I so wish I could have met him. Forever RIP.
It’s been 9 yrs since I last commented, now I’m back to listen again🙂 I’m sure Jim will be Proud of you👍🙂 one of my favorite music and singer 🙂 God Bless you Sir thanks for singing it👋🙂
Love Jim Croce's music. And, the angle of the camera was perfect for watching your fingers work this one. I couldn't help but feel privileged to watch and was in awe of your talent. You're leaving quite a legacy for us in your videos Larry! Truly mesmerizing and magical your gift! Thank you!
Larry, your arrangement of this song is beautifully done. I wish you would post a lesson on this song like you did for Witchita Lineman. In any event, all the best!
Mr. Larry, I am so amazed by you... It is yesterday once more! TNKU for sharing your wonderful gift! I miss hearing Jim Croce tunes.....His tunes are hard to find ...I still had the original album until a family member was house cleaning & ditched some of my albums!
And during an Era when life could be lived out of a backpack and no one cared or judged you if you actually did. I was in Jr High about that time but I have memories of this song and the tragic death of Jim Croce. Downtown San Diego had a nice bar called “Croce’s” for many years. Fantastic job on the cover my friend. Here’s to those old memories of youth.
Needed to hear this song right now. Currently a junior in college in NYC, and life is definitely passing me by. Soon as I graduate I'm bookin it to a national park with my guitar and my name and I'll figure it out from there.
Thank you so much for that wonderful treat. Beautifully done. Great voice and loved the way you played that 12 string. You brought Jim Croce’s music so much life. Thank you.
Jeff miller here. I wish so much to be included within your friend fans/peers. I respect you on so many levels. I can see how sensitive you are about the heartfelt great music you share. You are among other things, A mentor to hopeful artists. God bless you for Paying it forward and passing the torch. I have never ever meant to offend you. My Mom always said that I let my tongue get in the way of my eye tooth and I can't see what I'm saying. Forgive Me? Jeffrey
At 33 years old I love croces music and I absolutely love the way you played this song. I’ve watched your video and try g to learn to play this like you did. And I like how you played it with the E tuned to a D
@@marcofranko2 wow, I can only imagine what it’s like to be involved in a plane crash. I travel a lot through airports for work and always say a little prayer before take off. Glad you’re alive and well!
This is one of the best solo performance of this beautiful song composed by one of the greatest singer/composer of our time, Jim Croce...you nailed it again Larry, you always do...
Awesome cover. My favorite guitar. Reminds me of the legendary Glen Campbell, who liked his Ovation guitars. Coincidentally Jim and his friend crashed on the highway close to where my mom worked.
When I finally paid attention to the lyrics of this great song, it brought tears to my eyes, as I'm sure it does to many others. However, the song digs deeper into my soul every time I hear it, and it likewise with your great rendition Larry. Thank you....today I can say....I got a song, and you have a talent.
Larry, I'm from Brazil and still say nothing, just imagine how far your channel can reach. I'm completely delighted with their covers, make them more and more, because we will be here to listen to them always. Thank you!!!
Hi Larry! Million thanks for your wonderful performance. It was almost half century ago that I heard this song for the first time in my life in Seoul Korea by the kind introduction of my university alumni friend who passed away 35 years ago. He asked me to bring his disk my home to listen as I like it very much. While I was listening your singing, tears dropped on my cheek soundlessly. You honor Jim but I honor you pretty much as you are truly innocent and full of love. God bless you. From Kuala Lumpur. Jay
You're my kind of pal. Booze, cigars, and guitars. Right on man. Peace
Maybe he does juices and is into yoga
