Oh bless your heart, schlepping those big beauties around! Thank you so much for showing us this journey. Indeed, the care of the plants and the video taping are so much work. This is what sets you apart from the others. Thank you. It is truly appreciated. ✨️💖✨️
Wow. This is the best long-term Monstera video I have seen. You showed the entire process of chopping to produce more sprouts and greater fullness, and the difference that improved light position has, and most importantly, you showed the long-term results of all this work spanning twelve months. After seeing the length of it, I can't believe I watched every minute of it, but it was well-worth my time. /chefskiss 😘
Great 12 month updates! The effort you put into these year-long videos is very much appreciated. And I could very much relate with your struggle to free the pole after cutting!!!
😈 Wow!! Such a rollercoaster of transformation! Insane how much a plant can go through and evolve. I loved the last shot where you are standing next to the plant and one can really see the true size of it. It came out absolutely stunning!!
Forget exercise, I’m exhausted watching you wrestle an andansonii plant and I’m sitting here drinking coffee. 😅.Your hard work has paid off, your adansonii is gorgeous. My plants bring me joy, especially my plants I have had for years and years. If a plant stops bringing me joy (stops growing) and I am giving it everything it needs, to the trash bin it goes.😉Have a great day.
Seeing your adansonii, I feel like I don’t need to grow an esqueleto! I’d rather follow your advices and grow my cuttings into a moss pole once the roots will be well established. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and observations Jan! ❤🙏🏼
I love it!!! Amazing video. I agree with the long road of maintaining, but even if you get burned out on the thrill of the plant, that is totally OK. You never know until you try. The thrill it gave you was totally worth the years that got you there. I would still totally buy a plant that thrills me now even if I know I may not like it in 6 months or 6 years. That's the great part about plants. The journey getting there.
Great work! You inspired me. Now I put all the plants I can on moss poles. My syngoniums are HUGE now. Thank you for all the great ideas you are sharing.
👹 for Jan, Brad, and the spg algorithm: love seeing the update videos. The work and dedication to the plants and channel comes through for sure. Thank you for all the great advice on all parts of the journey. ♥️🌱😺
Truly enjoy the 12 month updates. I a few months back put my adansonii on a moss pole. No size up yet but it has rooted into the pole and there’s active growth. Fingers crossed it does well. I’ve had mine for years and only used a moss stake from the time I had gotten it. This video gives me something to look forward to seeing your plant’s growth. Thank you for sharing the journey.
I really appreciate these videos that show the growth of a plant over a long period of time and also the efford you have to put into the maintenance. It's much more informative than just showing a before and after picture of a plant and it's always presented a very entertaining way😅 I gave up on the M. andansonii cause they always came with thrips, but might give it another try in spring after watching this video🌿🌱
I love these “big picture” videos. I’ve taken your advice on a top chop of smol winter growth that are reaching the top of the poles. I appreciate your perspective!
🤯 This was perfect timing! I've made the cut, but have yet to separate the poles on my albo. Now I have the information and motivation I need to complete the process! If only Amazon would deliver its new pot... Great video! 💚
Hi Jan!! It's your girl again!! I gotta say this is one of the best videos that you've made. It was so good. It's funny because I had shown you my poles not too long ago, and you told me you thought my esqueleto was an adansonii, which I had bought as an ntc esqueleto, but totally agreed, I had been thinking the same. Anyway, fast forward to yesterday, I had to chop her up. I put a treatment on her for pests that just took her down. So it was just perfect timing for the video. Now, let me just say that your monstera is the most beautiful monstera adansonii that I've ever seen. Just wow!! I know she's mature, but I hope she continues to bring you more years of enjoyment. Again, such an awesome video. It's exactly the reason why I make time to watch you. So much love from me and my fur babies to you and Bradley!! Can't wait for the next one!!👹🪴😆😆
Great journey Jan! Enjoyed it right through while I repotting my rootbound aglaonema 😆 This vid has motivated me to chop and extend my overdue epi pinnatum variegated so thanks for the nudge 😜👺
Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed watching the whole video. I’m new to my plant journey. 1 year. Just spent the weekend making moss poles. I feel confident from watching your videos my plants are going to love their new poles.
Jan I have a Question!! Will you be uploading more videos to your second channel??? We love watching your videos when we wind down for bed! If you need content inspo, you can do a poll and I will answer xD! Also, thank you SO MUCH for uploading in 4k!! I have a new TV in the room and your videos look stellar!! Thank you so much for all of your hard work! Say meow to Brad for me!
Thank you :) atm I’m uploading an extra video on this channel (3 a week) which is keeping me busy :) but when I feel inspo to upload something there I will :)
One week ago, in the middle of winter, I decided it was a good time to chop up my adansonii aurea on a moss pole.. it Had so many beautifully variegated leaves and I wanted to multiply the shoots. Apparently the root systems weren't strong enough and most of those beautiful leaves faded away. 🙄 Maybe some will still take over time. Yet I wished I Had waited for spring and more established roots. Well, you live and you learn. 😅
❤ I may have chopped a pink princess 3 weeks ago 😅 think there are 17 cuttings. The leaves were getting smaller. Have homes for 3 already, just need to see growth before giving them to my daughter, her BFF and my mom
I seriously can’t even believe they can get this big indoors!! I had the cutest little adansonii that was already crawling sideways when i bought it & the stems/nodes were growing perfectly in uniform. I don’t even know what happened to the thing, one day he just committed sewer-slide I guess 😂
You inspired me with your Laniata. I grew mine from small cuttings and got it to two meters again after a chop & extend. And then…thrips. Put the lower part in the garden and it stood there during German November and December without any care for 6 weeks until frost killed it 😅 Could a least save the upper pole so we’ll see how the restart goes. Will definitely try a d-shape with some upcoming chops. Keep up the great work and best regards from cold Bonn.
🍊 🐆 Going through a bit of maintenance fatigue myself, so great advice on making good choices on future consequences. Loved the inflow test, even if inconclusive. It's good to do your own research. My Alocasias blooming here in winter, kinda nice dreaming of spring.😻
👺 I love how big your leafs are. De cuttings made me giggle, just because they are hilariously little in comparison to the leaf of the cutting you took 😂
I have 4 vines on my adensonii pole, 1 shot the lights out, the other three aren’t keeping up, if I do one more chop and extend I’ll be left with just the one vine, I need to fix this too, thanks for this Jan. I have a vertical light like mothers in front of the moss pole though, still hoping the bottom vines will catch up but not likely
🐲🐉 Could we get a video about the plants that didn't make it in your collection and why (or theories as to why)? And if you would try them again... I know it strays slightly from your usual care videos, but i think it would be quite interesting.
I’ve done a few similar videos in the past about failures & plants I wouldn’t buy again but was also thinking about doing another one :) so stay tuned :)
😈🧟♀️ I love how insightful you are at the end of your video. It will definitely make me change how I purchase plants. Thank you for such an amazing video! 😊
At 28:20 you mention the funnel you create for the plastic backed mosspoles. Does that mean you don't water those with the bottle upside down technique? Edit: Just finished watching the video and realised you answered my question at the end
10/10 when you were doing the chop and extend and found the support pole in the grow vertical 🤣 a relatable struggle
😂😂😂 Did I just witness you get in a fight with a moss pole?! 😂😂 You put up a great fight! Lol! I was cheering you on!
Oh bless your heart, schlepping those big beauties around! Thank you so much for showing us this journey. Indeed, the care of the plants and the video taping are so much work. This is what sets you apart from the others. Thank you. It is truly appreciated.
✨️💖✨️
whouaaa! Thank you for these 12 month videos. Absolute gems in the plant community!
Glad you like them!:)
Love your 12 month videos.😘! Really appreciate the amount of time and work that goes into them!😀
Agree
Great way to start my day. Hot cup of tea and a new 12 month video from Jan. Have a great day.

It's crazy to me as well how much these plants change over the course of a year Would have never guessed if I didn't record it :)

I just love coming in after I just shovelled 15 cm of snow in my driveway and watching your videos thanks
Seeing your adansonii, I feel like I don’t need to grow an esqueleto! I’d rather follow your advices and grow my cuttings into a moss pole once the roots will be well established.

Man! It's not normal how good your Monstera andansonii looks! Wow!
Even though I’ve seen this plant many times in your videos, it still doesn’t disappoint! It’s absolutely stunning! 🤩👹
👹 for Jan, Brad, and the spg algorithm: love seeing the update videos. The work and dedication to the plants and channel comes through for sure. Thank you for all the great advice on all parts of the journey. ♥️🌱😺
Appreciate that :)
I have 7 plants on moss poles. It is great to know what to do as they continue to develop. I learn so much from you. Thanks.

Thanks Jan for showing us this plant journey so thoroughly! These are some of my favorite videos you make 👹
Thanks :)
Another great video. Thanks Jan. My plants are so much healthier since I started watching you
That’s awesome to hear :) happy growing :)

25:50 now that that's done 😆 that was awesome effort for that damn garden steak!
My monstera I have 1 year it’s like going crazy it is always growing very big so then I cut it to get shoots and after 1 month it’s even bigger!
Got love a Monstera Adansonii, so impressive. 🥰🥰🥰

Great work Jan!
I’m loving your plant journey. Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks:)
Adansonii is incredible but GEEZ that manjula is stunning! 😍
Thanks :)
I loved your final thoughts about maintaining the mature plant.
Thanks :)
You've inspired me to try and adansonii on a moss pole. Love the mature leaves, but the immature never caught my eye. Yours is so beautiful!
I LOVED this video, you're awesome! Love seeing the whole process, just so relatable. Thanks for all you do!! 👾
Absolutely love these longform videos. Thank you for working so hard to bring innovative content!!
Thanks :)
Jan that plant is absolutely stunning you did an awesome job
Thanks :)
@sydneyplantguy yw
I'm on my way to large leaves thanks to you! US California here.

Great journey Jan! Enjoyed it right through while I repotting my rootbound aglaonema 😆 This vid has motivated me to chop and extend my overdue epi pinnatum variegated so thanks for the nudge 😜👺
Happy chopping :)
Wow! What a beautiful beast she is🫠❤️ you did an AMAZING job growing her healthier and more beautifully ❤❤

This plant turned out gorgeous 😍 as do 99.99% of all of yours, Jan

Your / this adansonil plant is a very beautiful plant. No room for a plant like that but I can admire yours.
Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed watching the whole video. I’m new to my plant journey. 1 year. Just spent the weekend making moss poles. I feel confident from watching your videos my plants are going to love their new poles.

Thanks for the video! Very comprehensive. Hope you create a segment called a 'Yarn with Jan' with lots of planty chit chat like this! 😊
Great prep video for me I’m about to chop up my mini monstera after it got sunburnt on all leaves yesterday..
Happy growing :)

Oh no :/ sorry to hear! In general heard bad things about aureas, they seem hard!!
Ugh! We’ve all been there. Just did it to my gigas..: ans the leaves were as big as my head. Shed a tear for our fallen soldiers.😢
❤ I may have chopped a pink princess 3 weeks ago 😅 think there are 17 cuttings. The leaves were getting smaller. Have homes for 3 already, just need to see growth before giving them to my daughter, her BFF and my mom

Thank you for all the long term projects. Love to watch them and your summer during my winter.
💯
Showing this whole process is really helpful and fun, thanks for the effort! 🌱😎👍
Cheers :)
You inspired me with your Laniata. I grew mine from small cuttings and got it to two meters again after a chop & extend. And then…thrips. Wonderful plant and great work 👍🦕🦕🦖🦖
Thanks :)
Always love your videos. Amazing skills
Thank you:)
So much good tips and information. Thanks Jan 🎃
Happy growing :))

Maintenance fatigue describes it so well 🙌🙌
👾 yet another great video to show all aspects of the journey of this gorgeous plant 🤩 thank you 🦦
Love the content!!!
Thanks:)
I like these 12 months of growing plants. Can you continue with other plants too?
Excellent video as usual
Thanks, glad you liked it :)
I hope my adansonii will someday look even half as gorgeous as yours❤
Just stay patient :)
Thank you!
Wow so lush plants
👺 I love how big your leafs are. De cuttings made me giggle, just because they are hilariously little in comparison to the leaf of the cutting you took 😂
👍 Awesome 👍 thanks Jan!
Great video, lots of good info.😀
Thanks! :)
I literally just finished chopping winter leaves and some stems for propagation and grabbed my phone. I'm shocked with the timing of the intro 😂
Awesome video :)
Thanks :)
Love your content 🎉 so fun to watch
Thanks :)
👹👹 So impressive!
Just WOW!
How on earth do your plants grow so fast? I am so jealous. (I'm also in a much colder zone!) Love the plants and your channel
I have 4 vines on my adensonii pole, 1 shot the lights out, the other three aren’t keeping up, if I do one more chop and extend I’ll be left with just the one vine, I need to fix this too, thanks for this Jan. I have a vertical light like mothers in front of the moss pole though, still hoping the bottom vines will catch up but not likely
not likely tbh ... maybe just give the top a little trim & it might reward you with 2 growth points :)
@ it’s already well rooted in the pole, guess I could just rip the roots out like you eh? Lol
Big and beautiful 😻🌿😻🌿😻
Thanks :)
Another amazing video! Thank you so much :)
Thanks :)
Not even watched yet, but danggg. Goals!
Love it!
Thanks:)
🐲🐉

lol , was wondering how that moss pole can stand so tall , a stake is a must , i did that too
😈🧟♀️ I love how insightful you are at the end of your video. It will definitely make me change how I purchase plants. Thank you for such an amazing video! 😊
Glad you liked it :)
👾 loved watching this video!
Your adansonii is easily one of the most impressives ones, even after chopping! 🧟♀️🧌 And also how did Brad not make an appearence in a 1 hour video 😹
He’s been soooo lazy!!!:P
34:36 Who is that? 😜
At 28:20 you mention the funnel you create for the plastic backed mosspoles. Does that mean you don't water those with the bottle upside down technique?
Edit: Just finished watching the video and realised you answered my question at the end
I would if it wasn't too tall :)
23:41 "I NEED A KNIFE" 😂😂
I’m commenting pretty early in the video but what is that overhanging black lamp? What bulb is in there??
Initially the soltech vita and then I replaced it with the mother lifespectrum. Both in the description :)
💚🌿🫶 the stake …😂😂😂
❤ nice
how to keep mature form? i did propagted but it turn baby again :(
