NYC Bus & MTA Bus Company | 1998-2000 New Flyer C40LF Review(Remastered)

- These are NYCT's very first C40LFs that were extremely iconic. Even as the very first low floor buses of NYC the MTA ordered.
As a small child, I always think of them as the best CNG buses out of Jackie Gleason. Their strong acceleration and their ecstatic backfires(my most favorite mechanical feature) which shows what a sister should run her CNG route. Great thing it's not as dramatic as the boisterous kings, the Orion VII CNGs. I always like them close to the Orion Vs from '94-96 and '97-99 from the taken over private lines at most rate.I wish they had the decal schemes as a black paint around their windows, but oh well. And the Bronx residents had their luck part to have them out of West Farms Depot. Even no.801 provides training out of College Point Depot in Queens. Including one in Spring Creek Depot as no.915(only C40LF with LED signage) that was parked in but not seen in service. Now as of 2013, they were no longer seen and are remembered as the first C40LFs and the first low floor buses of NYCT. This is so far the remake of my last review of these from 2019.

I miss these buses a LOT
Nice Review Cedric, Man I Miss These Buses, They Are My Childhood Buses Of Brooklyn, I Will Never Forget The Rides I Had On The B35 & The B63, I Saw Those Buses A Lot On The Different Routes But I Rode These On Two Routes I Just Mentioned, Ah Those Are Memories For Me
I really love these units. Better then the 2011-2013 C40LFs. I also like how MTA chose to get the Meteor Axles instend of the M.A.N which makes them sound so sexy. The backfires on these isn't as good as I take NICEes 2003-2004 Orion V CNG and the Orion VII CNGs but they not bad. I also bet you didn't noticed that LA had some C40LFs with the same powertrain and axles set up. However some got repowered in 2011 but some kept their S50Gs. Sadly they retired their C40LFs back in May of 2020. I wish I gotten to LA in March to catch some but Corona. Rest In Peace C40LFs...
From 2007-2011, I lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and probably rode these on the B37, B61, B63, B67 and B69.
Remember when these ran on the B23, B71, B75 and B77 before they were discontinued

These New Flyers I did like
I have been in Brooklyn since I was 4 years old. Those C40LFs were my most funnest low floors I like to see and hear alot.
I remember when I was young and saw them backfire, I always thought it was someone with the metrocard swiping it.
Right, it does sound like a farebox .

Only a few run here in marta I think, some were refurbished and given a new modern look

I was a preteen when these were retired. We didn't have smart devices in my household until 2012. Plus, youtube wasn't my easiest thing to access for videos until 2016.
@@AutomotiveTaurus Nobody likes the white back scheme but on the other hand it does look clean. When it is obviously properly maintained!

This is because both of these buses features the Series 50 engine types in any source.

What happened to these buses they should have keep these buses I which Jackie Gleason bus Depot get XD40 buses soon
They retired by September 2013. That was 15 years maximum of their CNG cylinder runs.
