If Ray Evernham is in the hall of fame with 47 wins and 3 championships then Kirk Shelmerdine needs to be in the hall of fame with 46 wins and 4 championships.

I’ve always said that not enough credit was ever given to Richard Childress, his crew and the equipment for Earnhardt’s success. Many top level car owners said that their equipment would have never lasted with Earnhardt’s aggressive driving style. Without RCR in that era of NASCAR in the 80s, 90s , Earnhardt would have never had 7 titles

Totally agree with you man! Earnhardt once told Childress when they first started together... that "you build me a bullet proof car, I'll get you a bunch of wins and championships." That tight knit group knew what to do! From the boys back at the shop, the dyno room, to the "flying aces" made that gm goodwrench team shine in the 80s and 90s...2001 would of been that #8 championship, 2000 was just the prelude to dale's return to the top...

David Baker Kirk & Cecil Gordon!!!! Kirk has more accomplishments, better #s, than another CC that recently went into the HOF, but he’s not a mouthpiece....those 2 stay @ RCR, not 1 single doubt in my mind, Dale has 10 Championships!!!!

Oh yeah, this was the guy that finished 20th on the lead lap at the 2006 Daytona 500 with an independent car, donated tires, and a volunteer pit crew. Quite the Cinderella story if you ask me!
