      @@AskDoctorJo thanks, so they work like dumbbells in the water?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@childrenoftheblacksun They are slightly different. Since they are not made out of foam like the dumbbells, the resistance is just in the direction you are pushing and pulling through the water.

      Hey thanks for the upload amazing video, which workout is better aquastrength or regular workout in gym?

    We get most of our equipment from an online website called sprint aquatics. I think you can probably get them for less at any chain store like Walmart or Target during the summer. If you are looking for something with a strong amount of resistance, my favorite equipment is hydrotones. I don't have them in my videos because they are expensive (about $60), and I am always trying to make it affordable for people. Good luck!!

    Try using the kickboard to paddle like you are in a canoe. One side then the other. Another is use the kickboard and push down on one side all the way to your thigh then the center then the other side.

    Hello I thank you for your tips and exercises. I am taking my 85 year old Mom to the pool to work out. She is unable to bend one knee she may have 3 to 5 degree movement. When she had her total knee replacement surgery they sent her to a senior center for 5 weeks they put her in brace and never moved it now it is frozen. She is loosing muscles from her sedentary life style. Can you share ways to strength core without bending knee.

      @AskDoctorJo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the pool is a great place to do that. The above exercises should help. How long ago was her surgery?

    I've used the paddles and the dumbells, and at least for me the paddle walk is substantially more of a core workout for me then the dumbbell walk, but that might be just me.

      It's different for everyone depending on what your diagnosis is, how long you've had it, and how your body reacts. The information in this video may help: th-cam.com/video/Uo2Bz7F339I/w-d-xo.html

    I don't know if this is true or not but I'll ask anyway. I was told the paddles are NOT sold in a set...they are only sold individually. Where did you get yours and are they very expensive ( I have to follow a 6 letter word...BUDGET)? Hope you can help me out.

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      02chevyguy Mine were bought by my company, but I do have them for sale through my website store (which is Amazon). www.askdoctorjo.com/content/products under the aquatic therapy toys section. I think they come in pairs, but honestly I am not sure. Either way, they are pretty cheap. Good luck!

      AskDoctorJo I found the ones you told me about...however, I also noticed some higher priced ones on Amazon.com at swimoutlet.com for (roughly) 29.00. Are they all about the same structure wise (meaning will the higher priced be just as good as the lower)? Can you also recommend a good inexpensive brand of fingerless aquatic gloves?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      02chevyguy They are all about the same, but make sure they are selling you a pair instead of just one. That might be the price difference. You can always ask. Do you mean like the webbed gloves?

    • @02chevyguy
      @02chevyguy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      AskDoctorJo Hi Dr Jo. I plan on ordering the paddles and gloves within the next few days. Yes, I'm referring to the webbed ones. Saw a few on various sites, but if you can make a recommendation as to what brand is better or more sturdy, that would be great! I'm also trying to determine what size I'd need to order. Just curious...have you seen the "hydro" workout by Dr. Steven Davis on here (just enter Dr Steven Davis Hydro and it'll come back with the result)? Between what I'm seeing with your workouts and his, I should be in shape in no time. Hope you're having a good week.

      02chevyguy The ones I have for my patients are the Speedo brand. They seem to work pretty well. I have them in my store if you want to see what I am talking about: www.askdoctorjo.com/content/products Not sure about the size. I would say it is similar to regular glove sizes. I haven't seen his video. I will have to check it out!

      Thanks. I think aquatic therapy is a great idea! I have several videos, but I would recommend starting off with the basic walking and the basic exercises, and see how those feel. You can find all of them here: www.askdoctorjo.com/category/categories/aquatic-therapy Good luck.
