just realized that the line "The way destiny lies" could be interpreted in another way. I primarily originally read it as the way destiny lies in the sense that destiny is pre determined and thus you wouldn't be surprised because you knew what is going to happen. There is an alternative interpretation that it is the way destiny *lies* as in misleads you about its malleability. Destiny can be changed. That being said I am realizing it doesn't jive as well with the line "pretend to be surprised" and while there are some ways of reconciling and reframing that line to fit with my observations here that is a bit fruitless. Most likely the authorial intent was my original interpretation, but I think destiny lying to you is an interesting alternative interpretation. Homestuck does have a lot to say about predeterminism, but it has been probably 8 years since I actually read the text of homestuck so I don't really have much insight onto that theming without thinking about it a lot or rereading it.

It's as canon as Colors and Mayhem ever is. The composer intended this to be Aradia, which is more than you can say for something like Cobalt Thief.
