Cave exploration just seems stupid to me, it's a bunch of monochrome rocks. This one is special in that it has lots of life but apparently they hate creepy crawlies so there's no logic in doing what they did. It's more or less the same thing with climbing tall mountains. I could understand someone who especially likes rare ecosystems or geology but they didn't.

Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. And terrorists (puppets of the Antichrist) who misinterpret verses, out of ignorance and political motivations, and take them out of historical context (just like radical atheists do by the way), don't help either. Thank you very much for your time.
Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them).
Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).
Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.
(19-22 / Translated by Muhammad Asad)..

With all due respect for the dead.
If an official tour guide tells you not to do it because the cave is dangerous and its monsoon time, how can you as a non-local and with zero experience just overgo this advice and find someone with also zero experience and pay him to go with you?
And if you do so, sad enough. But for god's sake why do you get you 10 yo boy on such a trip? Did she thought it was an offical tour guide or what?
    ...
These kind of stories always tore me apart between anger and just poor sadness for everyone involved. ;(

It rains violently everyday during monsoon season, and it’s usually a flash flood type situation that’s over in 15 minutes. Just mind boggling to make such a bad decision and to not listen to the locals and the signs.

• @WildWombats
      @WildWombats 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

I'm not surprised either but I know personally, I'd listen to the locals and experts opinions over anything else. They live there and know the area more than you do. Their opinion is surely worth something. Especially in a land you have no idea about. If they tell you "Don't go over that way, there's a deadly tribe that attacks on sight" You don't go that way unless you're fully willing to risk your life knowing you could be killed. I'm not trying to blame the victims either, at the same time though it was extremely dangerous and reckless going in a cave in that location during monsoon season and any seasoned cavers would be well aware of that fact, so it was definitely an avoidable situation which is the saddest part about this whole thing. If they just had one experienced guy in the group, it might have went a different way.

My aunt and uncle would go on beach vacations every year. They would take their 2 kids along with 2 my kids and another nephew. They went to Myrtle Beach, SC back in 2017 just about a week after storm season. There were warnings all over the beaches that there were strong currents making swimming hazardous. People just basically blew off those signs like they weren't too serious. My aunt & uncle made the kids stay at the shore line for their safety. There was an 11 year old local boy swimming by himself. He went out far from the shoreline, passed a sandbar and got caught in a strong current. My uncle and another tourists who was only 21 years old took off after the little boy. They made it to him & began pulling him from the current. They saved his life, but unfortunately both my uncle & the 21 year old young man were pulled under by the current just after getting the 11 year old boy to safety. They both drowned & died that day. My uncle died in front of his wife, 2 kids & 3 nephews. The 21 year old died in front of his parents & siblings. There was not one adult with the little boy. That little boy had an emotional breakdown right after he had been pulled to safety upon realizing that the 2 people who had saved him had died. My aunt said that hearing that boy breakdown made the pain much more gut wrenching bc he blamed himself. She went to him to tell him that it was not his fault. My uncle's body wasn't found until 2 days later. My aunt had no choice but to stay in SC for another 4 days & 3 nights foe his body to be found & examined by the M.E to verify his C.O.D and then make the necessary arrangements to have him transported back to Kentucky.

I believe a handful of people drown during summer. Is it possible to cordon off beaches, oceans, etc? Maybe a barb wire fence? Underwater mines? Maybe allow certifications. You wanna dip your toes? Sure, but first, go ahead and swim across the English Channel with handcuffs and lead weights around your neck. Then we’ll talk.

The pain I feel when I even imagine seeing my husband jump into the rushing flood waters in a cave to try and get us to safety while screaming “I LOVE YOU!”…. I can’t imagine what she must’ve been feeling in that moment I can’t begin to imagine how she must still feel today. That would absolutely destroy me down to my core if I lost my husband in such a way… or even at all honestly. But that situation would just make that loss so much more traumatic. And then to feel your hopes rise after being told that he’d survived. Only to find out that they’d lied for some reason. That poor woman. She must have some horrible PTSD. I hope she has the love and support she needs and has been able to work through and heal her heart a bit.

Monsoon season is no joke in Thailand. I was river floating (literally just floating downstream in a life vest) this one year and a sudden downpour happened. The waters rushed so hard that I was going under but the vest was the only thing pulling me up, so my body was under but the vest was over the water level. In the river, a huge whirlpool almost swallowed me and my uncle, but we managed to somehow free ourselves. The river current rushed us down until we managed to get near the observation area where there were steel ladders to get out of the river from. We grabbed on for dear life and it took all our strength to not get pulled back into the river as we struggled to climb out.

I knew a guy in my high school who went to Costa Rica. He was about 18 at the time, so in great physical shape. He went into the jungle with some people and a guide for a day hike. He died from heat exhaustion on the hike. There was no way to cool him down. Be super careful in unfamiliar environments in other parts of the world, you aren't adapted for it and have no knowledge. I feel pretty comfortable in the forests of British Columbia because I know what the dangers are, but in another environment I trust the experts. I went into some abandoned mines with a couple of friends when I was in my early 20's. For the most part the mine was pretty solid, but a couple of spots were more gravelly and made me more nervous. There was one spot where there was a mine shaft going up at about a 70 degree angle full of huge boulders and the only thing holding it up was two crossed old beams. We didn't go near it because one fart could bring the weight of the world down on us. No way would I do that now. Very sad story and I feel for the people who died, pretty awful way to go.

John sounds like he fell victim to a darwin award. He was warned by expert tour guides that the monsoon season would surely kill them all.
He then pays very poor people to take him to the village and I'm sure the money was great compared to what they are used to leaving locals no choice.
He then thinks he can swim in a rapid instead of wait things out for a bit.
